Teej begins at sunrise as women dress in red or green sarees, wear bangles and mehendi, and prepare for the day with traditional shringar. An idol of Goddess Parvati is placed on a decorated platform with offerings like flowers, sweets and coconut. The puja starts with lighting a diya and chanting devotional songs. Vrat (fast without food) is performed by married women for their husband's well-being and by unmarried girls for a good life partner. The day is filled with folk songs, dancing, and swinging on decorated jhoolas. The puja ends with evening aarti and prasad, marking a celebration of devotion, strength and womanhood.

Chowrangee's ‘Monsoon Dreams' enthrals audiences
Hyderabad: Chowrangee, Hyderabad's innovative art and culture platform, recently presented 'Monsoon Dreams', an evening of exquisite dance ballet performed by the Tanusree Shankar Dance Company at Taramati Baradari on Sunday. Tanusree Shankar is a renowned dancer and choreographer of international acclaim, as well as a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. The first half of the evening featured her classic choreographic pieces, including Ganesh Vandana, Shiva, Serenity, Court Dance, Cloud, Wrishya Vihar, and Amity. These performances explored a wide range of themes, such as spirituality, peace, grandeur, monsoons, the environment, and feminism. Many of the dance pieces were accompanied by the unique and distinctive melodies of the legendary modern composer Ananda Shankar, Tanusree Shankar's late husband. Lucknow: Women and young girls gathered in traditional attire at the Sangeet Bhawan Academy on Sunday to celebrate Hariyali Teej. The festivities showcased a vibrant blend of tradition and cultural performances, with participants adorned in green sarees, traditional bangles, intricate henna designs, and ethnic jewellery. The cultural programme began with students presenting classical dance performances set to traditional ragas. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony. Smita, Shirsha, Ameeya, and Sonia clinched the first prize, while Aradhna and Arnavi secured second place. Mihika and Shikha were awarded third prize for their performances.
