This Morning presenter Josie Gibson was presenting from Wakefield for a special VE Day episode - but fans were quick to correct her after she made a blunder on-air
Viewers of This Morning were a tad distracted on Thursday as host Josie Gibson made a blunder just moments into the VE Day special episode.
Celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day, presenter Josie, 40, visited Wakefield for a unique celebration and street party, complete with locals in costume and vintage-themed food spreads.
Yet, when Josie interacted with a youngster clad in a period costume, she remarked: "You look so cute, you're a little refugee, so they would have shipped little refugee off to maybe Cornwall, down the South Coast."
She then asked: "Can we have a little look at your gas mask, oh look at him, oh look how cute is that!"
Social media was abuzz quickly after, with some pointing out that Josie had incorrectly identified the child as a 'refugee' rather than an 'evacuee.'
One person said: "Ffs Josie, he's dressed as an evacuee not a frigging refugee…#thismorning", a different account put: "#ThisMorning @thismorning that little kid in Wakefield is not a refugee, he's dressed as an evacuee" while another added: "Refugee? REFUGEE, Josie??! That's not the right word."
In other parts of Thursday's show, presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley enjoyed a musical treat from the incredible British Army Music brass trumpet band, who delivered moving wartime tunes throughout the programme.
The episode also featured a special segment with Friday host Dermot O'Leary, who took to the skies in a memorable Spitfire plane experience, reports Wales Online.
Ben, 50, shared an Instagram post prior to the VE Day special writing: "Very special VE day show ahead #veday" along with a heart emoji.
Eighty years ago today (8 May), millions of Britons took to the streets to celebrate the defeat of Nazi Germany and the end of World War 2.
News that the war had ended in Europe was broadcast by the BBC over the radio to a delighted public late on May 7.
Brits were told the following day, May 8, would be a national holiday called Victory in Europe Day.
On VE Day, Winston Churchill made a national radio broadcast and later appeared in central London in front of huge cheering crowds.

EastEnders teen Joel Marshall (Max Murray) is arrested after committing a shocking assault next week. As the BBC soap's dark incel plot gathers pace, the newcomer is questioned by police after inappropriately touching a passenger on the tube. Since arriving in Walford with his dad Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) and his partner Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) earlier this year, Joel has exhibited some disturbing behaviour. 'Anyone who's lost a parent, you feel these brief spurts of emotion, from time to time. "He had colon cancer. I wear the blue ribbon for that, and I say a prayer every night for people who have been affected by cancer. 'It's a horrible, horrible thing. He got that diagnosis last year, and it wasn't good. "Over the past few months before his passing, you could see it was starting to take a toll. So it's emotional, but honestly, I know he's in a better place. 'He was beginning to suffer, and that's something no one ever wants to see. "Although I wish he was still here with us, there's a sense of peace among our family. And I hope he's at peace as well, because it was hard. 'And for me, I have a 15-month-old daughter now, and the last few months, I feel like in a way I've gone from a boy to a man, and like matured as a person and as a dad.'
