"When the girl became breathless (the survivor mentions in her complaint that she had a panic attack), she was provided the inhaler - not to revive her but to ensure she regained consciousness and they could assault her sexually," public prosecutor Sourin Ghosal told the Alipore court while seeking police custody of the arrested suspects till July 10.
The court remanded prime suspect Mishra and law students Zaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukherjee in police custody until July 8.
Security guard Pinaki Banerjee, arrested on suspicion of abetting the June 25 crime inside the guardroom, will remain in custody until July 4.
Ghosal argued for extended custody on the ground that the suspects, especially Mishra, were "very influential and may influence the investigation".
If granted bail, they might "terrorise" the survivor and tamper with evidence, he said. Police also informed the court that not only did the medical report of the survivor corroborate her statement, technical evidence collected by the special investigation team and circumstantial proof matched her version of how the crime unfolded.

New evidence presented include CCTV footage from the pharmacy where the inhaler was purchased and the mobile location data of the suspects. Police have questioned six of 17 students present on campus that evening.
Investigators are examining why Mishra called the college vice-principal the day after the assault. They also plan to question the college union's general secretary, who left the survivor alone hours before the attack after promising to return.
According to the FIR, the general secretary was with the survivor from 4pm to 7.30pm after Zaib summoned them, claiming Mishra wanted to discuss something regarding the union. The general secretary then left, saying she would return shortly, but never did.
Police quoted Zaib and Pramit as telling interrogators that Mishra planned the assault after repeated rejections by the survivor, whom he purportedly wanted to marry.
The college's governing body has expelled Mishra, who worked as a temporary member of the non-teaching staff while practising law. The other two suspects have been barred from all Bengal educational institutions. The college will petition the authorities to revoke Mishra's law licence.
The college's vice-principal said Tuesday that the perpetrators of the crime should be "hanged".

'Will be next job': Trump proposes deporting US citizens with criminal offenses; says will find out legality
US President Donald Trump speaks during a roundtable at "Alligator Alcatraz" (Image credits: AP) US President Donald Trump on Tuesday floated the idea of deporting US citizens who commit crimes, a proposal that legal experts say could violate the Constitution. During a visit to a migrant detention center in the Florida Everglades, Trump claimed that some immigrants who are now US citizens have committed serious offenses. "They're not new to our country. They're old to our country. Many of them were born in our country. I think we ought to get them the hell out of here, too, if you want to know the truth," Trump told reporters, according to ABC News. "So maybe that will be the next job." Trump admitted he was unsure of the legal basis for his proposal. "We'll have to find that out legally. I'm just saying if we had the legal right to do it, I would do it in a heartbeat," he added. "I don't know if we do or not, we're looking at that right now." The comments come just weeks after assistant attorney general Brett Shumate, a Trump appointee, issued a memo encouraging US attorneys to pursue denaturalisation cases that align with the administration's policy goals. The memo listed individuals involved in crimes such as torture, war crimes, human trafficking and human rights violations as key targets. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trending in in 2025: Local network access control [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo Legal experts have pushed back, warning that deporting natural-born or naturalised citizens based solely on criminal activity could breach constitutional protections, particularly the Eighth Amendment, which bans cruel and unusual punishment, reported ABC News. Amanda Frost, a law professor at the University of Virginia, told ABC News that naturalised citizens can only be stripped of their status in specific cases, such as if they committed fraud during the naturalization process or engaged in acts like treason. 'An unrelated crime could not be the basis for denaturalising and deporting somebody," said Frost. Trump visited the 'Alligator Alcatraz' migrant detention center in Florida. While critics have described the facility as 'inhumane' due to the administration's tough immigration policies, the president leaned into the controversy during the center's official opening.

Sean ‘Diddy' Combs hit with new $10 million lawsuit; dancer claims he was DRUGGED, given an STD
As jurors continue deliberations in Sean Diddy Combs' high-profile federal sex trafficking case, the music has been slapped with a new legal battle. According to a report on Variety, a new $10 million lawsuit has been filed against him in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging sexual abuse, drugging, and intentional transmission of a sexually transmitted disease. The complaint, filed Tuesday night by Edmond Laurent, a former model, actor, and exotic dancer, accuses Combs and several unnamed individuals of assault, battery, sexual battery, civil conspiracy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and aiding and abetting. Laurent, a native of Dominica who performed under the name 'Islander,' claims the abuse began in the late 2000s after he was hired to perform at a private event at a Los Angeles hotel. According to the 32-page lawsuit, Laurent arrived at what he thought was a bachelorette party, only to find a masked man and woman waiting for a private dance. That man, he alleges, was Sean Combs . The suit details multiple alleged encounters in which Laurent says he was manipulated into consuming spiked drinks and forced into non-consensual sexual acts, including one incident where he lost consciousness after drinking orange juice that was allegedly laced with Rohypnol and ketamine. 'When Plaintiff regained consciousness, he was lying naked on the bed, slathered in baby oil, and felt immense pressure and pain in his rectum,' the complaint states. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Laurent alleges that he later contracted condyloma and began experiencing severe health issues, including uncontrollable vomiting and an inability to retain solid food. These complications, according to the lawsuit, led to gastric surgery and a subsequent diagnosis of stomach cancer. The suit claims that Laurent, a heterosexual man once featured in music videos for Britney Spears , Tupac Shakur , Dr. Dre, Lil' Kim, and even an episode of Baywatch, was targeted and silenced by fear and shame for years before deciding to come forward. Combs is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn as he awaits a verdict in a separate federal case involving charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution.
