Emmy odds check-up: ‘The Pitt' prognosis is positive as it creeps up on ‘Severance'
By March, the Max medical procedural had jumped up to sixth place in Gold Derby's odds, and by April it was in the top four. Now, as word of mouth continues to grow, The Pitt has achieved its highest placement yet at No. 2, behind only the long-standing predictions leader, Severance.

The Pitt stars Emmy frontrunner Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, a senior attending physician who works a 15-hour shift at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital. Each episode unfolds hourly in real time. Robby's fellow staff members include Taylor Dearden's Melissa "Mel" King, Katherine LaNasa's Dana Evans, Patrick Ball's Frank Langdon, and Shawn Hatosy's Dr. Jack Abbott.
While The Pitt gives viewers a nostalgic throwback feel to traditional broadcast dramas, Severance is celebrated for its originality and fully embraces its sci-fi weirdness. Adam Scott stars as Mark Scout, aka Mark S., an employee for the mysterious Lumon Industries who agrees to separate his work mind from his home self. His fellow severed workers include Zach Cherry as Dylan G., Britt Lower as Helly R., and John Turturro as Irving B.
Three other genre shows appear in Gold Derby's top eight: zombie apocalypse drama The Last of Us in third place, Star Wars spin-off Andor in seventh place, and survival horror series Squid Game in eighth place. Is it possible they could all split the sci-fi/fantasy vote, thereby ensuring a classic drama like The Pitt ekes out a victory on Emmy night? Be sure to give us your take in our TV forum.

Party on, Jon Jamón: Jon Hamm spotted at Bad Bunny concert in Puerto Rico
When Jon Hamm touches down in PR, he's far from a "Turista." The Emmy-winning actor, who's made it no secret that he's a Bad Bunny superfan, was spotted attending the reggaeton superstar's concert residency in Puerto Rico over the weekend. Bad Bunny kicked off the hotly anticipated string of shows, titled No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí, on July 11 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico, the island's largest indoor arena. Hamm, also known by his fan alias "Jon Jamón," was seen dancing to the Grammy-winning singer's energetic set throughout the concert. The "Mad Men" alum, 54, also channeled the tropical inspiration of the Puerto Rican landscape with his show attire, which included a short-sleeved, island-style shirt with matching bottoms and a bucket hat. As seen in concert footage, Hamm had one of the best seats in the house. The actor was spotted in Bad Bunny's "La Casita," a VIP section modeled after a traditional Puerto Rican home. Hamm waved and blew kisses to nearby fans, and he gyrated to the music as Bad Bunny made his way through the crowd. Hamm isn't the only celebrity who's partied it up at Bad Bunny's casita. Actor Austin Butler, who went viral for his dance moves at the singer's residency, raved about the concert experience during an Aug. 12 interview on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." "I'm just like, so proud of him," Butler recalled. "I'm watching him going, 'Oh my God, look how much you mean to everyone here.' I'm like, falling in love with Puerto Rican culture and the dancing, and everybody is so sexy and amazing." Bad Bunny is expected to continue his residency performances every weekend through Sept. 14, followed by a world tour that commences in November. 'My brain is in two movies': Austin Butler recalls trippy Bad Bunny concert after taking edible Jon Hamm explains his love for Bad Bunny During an April 10 appearance on the "Today" show, Hamm opened up about his love of Bad Bunny's work. "You can't listen to his music and not smile," Hamm told host Savannah Guthrie. "I just love his story. He's a really nice guy. He's funny. He's an 'SNL' guy, too. They love him over there." Hamm and Bad Bunny performed together for the 50th anniversary special of "Saturday Night Live," during which Hamm received the nickname "Jon Jamón" from "SNL" alum Amy Poehler as a play on his surname (Jamón translates to "ham" in Spanish). Bad Bunny setlist: All the songs on his No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí residency Hamm also shared his excitement about his plans to attend the No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí residency, praising Bad Bunny for staying true to his Puerto Rican roots. "It's really cool that he's going back to his home, to really kind of give back to the fans," Hamm said. "He's reserving the first four, five or 10 shows, or whatever it is, for only residents of Puerto Rico, which is so cool."

The Penguin: This Could Be the Best News for Season 2 on HBO
While HBO has yet to officially green-light a sequel installment for the Colin Farrell-led Penguin series, the entertainment juggernaut's latest deal with Lauren LeFranc suggests that Season 2 might just be on the cards. The Penguin showrunner recently extended her collaboration with HBO by signing an official contract with the company, raising hopes for the continuation of her DC series in the process. The Penguin showrunner's latest deal with HBO boosts Season 2 chances On August 19, Variety reported that Lauren LeFranc has inked a two-year overall deal with HBO and HBO Max. Additionally, she has also launched her own production banner, under the title of Acid and Tender Productions. Many have taken this as a promising sign for the future of The Penguin series, with LeFranc's extended association with HBO suggesting that Season 2 could happen in the near future. 'I am thrilled to continue my creative partnership with HBO,' LeFranc noted. 'They have been unwavering in their support of my work on The Penguin and beyond. My company, Acid and Tender Productions, comes from a sincere desire to shepherd bold stories and perspectives from singular voices and artists I love. I came up in writers rooms, and when they're working, there's nothing better. My hope is for Acid and Tender to become that kind of haven for writers and filmmakers who seek to tell authentic, off-kilter, character-driven stories, no matter the genre,' she added. The deal between LeFranc and HBO comes after The Penguin's staggering performance in the award season. The series received 24 Emmy nods, becoming the second-most nominated show this year, trailing only Apple TV+'s Severance. Despite the aforementioned update, The Penguin Season 2 has yet to receive official confirmation from its makers. In a recent interview, Warner Bros. Television Group Chairman/CEO Channing Dungey teased fans that while a sequel is certainly possible, the immediate focus remains on getting Matt Reeves' The Batman Part II out.
