Asia Cup: Sony sets top ad rates for India-Pakistan clash
Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has set ad rates for the Asia Cup, with the India-Pakistan match commanding ₹14-16 lakh per 10-second slot. Sponsorship opportunities are also available, with co-presenting sponsorships priced at ₹18 crore for television and ₹30 crore for digital platforms.
Agencies India vs Pakistan (File Photo) Mumbai: The ad inventory for India's upcoming Asia Cup matches, including the high-profile clash against arch-rivals Pakistan, has been priced at ₹14-16 lakh per 10-second slot, according to the ad rate card issued to advertisers by official media rights holder Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI).SPNI, which secured the Asia Cup media rights till 2031 for $170 million, will air the tournament on Sony Sports Network and stream it on SonyLIV.
For television, co-presenting sponsorship is pegged at ₹18 crore, while associate sponsorship is priced at ₹13 crore. A spot-buy package covering all India and non-India matches is priced at ₹16 lakh per 10 seconds, amounting to ₹4.48 crore.On the digital side, SonyLIV is offering multiple sponsorship options. Co-presenting and highlights partner packages are priced at '30 crore each, while the co-powered-by package is at '18 crore. Digital ad inventory will be evenly distributed across matches, with 30% reserved for India games.
"Asia Cup will see good demand since it's happening in the pre-festive season and the India-Pakistan match is a big draw. This year, Diwali is coming early, so a lot of advertising activity will begin in September," said Navin Khemka, president-client solutions, WPP Media.
The Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the T20 format, featuring eight teams and 19 matches, including three India-Pakistan encounters.Rates for digital spots across all matches are ₹275 per 10 seconds for pre roll ads, ₹225 for midrolls, and ₹450 for Connected TV (CTV) ads. For India matches, these rise to ₹500 for pre rolls, ₹400 for midrolls, and ₹800 for CTV ads. The India-Pakistan game commands the highest rates at ₹750 for pre rolls, ₹600 for midrolls, and ₹1,200 for CTV ads.Meanwhile, sources say the Asian Cricket Council has signed sponsorship deals with title sponsor DP World; global sponsors Wonder Cement, Spinny, and Groww; and official partners Royal Stag Packaged Drinking Water, Haier, Daikin, and Ozone.Media agencies estimate the sponsorship values at between ₹10 crore and ₹20 crore.

Talks on border issue: Chinese FM Wang Yi to visit India next week; EAM Jaishankar to hold bilateral talks
NEW DELHI: Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi will visit India on Monday for talks with national security advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval under the Special Representatives (SR) mechanism on the boundary issue, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) confirmed on Saturday. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "At the invitation of national security advisor Shri Ajit Doval, Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi will visit India on 18-19 August 2025," the MEA stated in a release. "During his visit, he will hold the 24th round of the Special Representatives' (SR) Talks on the India-China boundary question with India's SR, NSA Doval," it added. Wang and Doval are the designated SRs for the talks. The MEA also confirmed that external affairs minister S Jaishankar will meet Wang for bilateral discussions. Wang's visit comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's planned trip to Tianjin, China, to attend the annual Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. Doval last visited China in December 2024 and held SR-level talks with Wang. The meeting followed the decision by Prime Minister Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan, Russia, to revive various dialogue mechanisms between the two countries. In recent months, both sides have taken steps to improve relations that were strained after the June 2020 clashes between their militaries. PM Modi is expected to travel to China later this month for the SCO summit. Last month, India also resumed issuing tourist visas to Chinese nationals. The military standoff in eastern Ladakh began in May 2020, and the Galwan Valley clashes in June that year worsened ties between the two countries. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi To Visit India On Monday
Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister Wang Yi is set to visit India on August 18 (Monday) for the 24th Round of Talks Between the Special Representatives of China and India on the Boundary Question, Beijing confirmed on Saturday. "From August 18 to 20, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs and China's Special Representative on the China-India boundary question Wang Yi will visit India and hold the 24th Round of Talks Between the Special Representatives of China and India on the Boundary Question at the invitation of the Indian side," the Chinese Ministry for Foreign Affairs said in a statement. The visit is scheduled to take place shortly before Prime Minister Narendra Modi travels to China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit scheduled to take place at Tianjin, from August 31 to September 1. The Chinese side also welcomed PM Modi's participation in the SCO Summit. At a briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said, "China welcomes Prime Minister Modi to China for the SCO Tianjin Summit. We believe that with the concerted effort of all parties, the Tianjin summit will be a gathering of solidarity, friendship and fruitful results, and the SCO will enter a new stage of high-quality development featuring greater solidarity, coordination, dynamism and productiveness." According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, leaders of over 20 countries, including all member states of the SCO and heads of 10 international organisations, will attend relevant events of the summit, which, Jiakun said, will be the "largest summit in scale since the establishment of the SCO." This will be PM Modi's first visit to China since the Galwan clash in 2020, which severely strained bilateral ties. The breakthrough in bilateral talks, first after the Galwan Valley face-off between the soldiers of the two countries at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in June 2020, was made possible after India and China reached an agreement on patrolling along the nearly 3500-km LAC to end the four-year-long border confrontation. In July, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visited China to attend the Meeting of the Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Tianjin. He also held discussions with his Chinese counterpart on the sidelines of the meeting. He also called on Chinese President Xi Jinping, along with his fellow SCO Foreign Ministers. Earlier in June, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited China to attend the SCO Defence Ministers Meeting. India had refused to endorse the joint declaration at the SCO Defence Ministers' meeting, citing the exclusion of concerns around terrorism as a key reason. India stated that it wanted concerns about terrorism reflected in the document, which was not acceptable to one particular country; therefore, the statement was not adopted. During his visit, Singh met his Chinese counterpart, Admiral Don Jun, and the two leaders had a "constructive and forward-looking exchange of views" on issues related to bilateral ties. In June, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval also visited China to attend the 20th Meeting of the SCO Security Council Secretaries. In his intervention at the meeting, he highlighted the need to shun double standards in the fight against terrorism and take decisive actions against UN-proscribed terrorists and entities like LeT, JeM and their proxies and dismantle their terror eco-systems.
