Bhagwat: Panch Parivartan must reflect in conduct
Agra: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (
RSS
) chief Dr
Mohan Bhagwat
on Monday said the five-fold change envisioned in
Panch Parivartan
must go beyond speeches and be reflected in the conduct of every volunteer. He was speaking on the final day of his five-day visit to Aligarh.
"Panch Parivartan isn't just something to talk about. It must be practised. Volunteers should adopt these changes in their own lives for the message to truly impact society," he said, urging shakha members to internalise the idea.
He said the first change calls for promoting
social harmony
by eradicating caste-based discrimination. Volunteers must set an example by visiting homes across communities and hosting people from different backgrounds. He stressed that only through personal example can true harmony be achieved.
Speaking on family awareness, he said families are the foundation of society and should come together to eat, pray, and celebrate. Volunteers, he added, should lead the way in reviving these bonds.

Bhagwat said a mindset rooted in
Swadeshi
was essential, urging people to use indigenous products and view self-reliance as a matter of pride and self-respect. He added that Swadeshi is not just about products but a broader commitment to national dignity.
On environmental responsibility, he said nature must be respected and protected through tree planting, pollution control, and cleanliness of water bodies. He also encouraged making provisions for birds and animals.
Calling for responsible citizenship, Bhagwat stressed awareness and practice of civic duties, saying volunteers must help build a society that honours its responsibilities to the nation.
Paying tribute to Dr B.R. Ambedkar, he described him as a symbol of harmony and a visionary behind the Indian Constitution. "Dr. Ambedkar's contribution to social unity will always be remembered," he said.
Bhagwat concluded by urging volunteers to move forward with preparation, conviction, and commitment so the ideals of Panch Parivartan resonate across the country.

'Fake arena': Ahead of Maharashtra civic polls, UBT strongman Chandrahar Patil joins Shinde camp
THANE: Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde took a pointed jab at the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) faction on Monday, referring to it as a 'fake arena' and reminded his supporters how he floored his political rivals during the 2022 rebellion. Shinde was speaking late Monday at an induction event in Thane, where two-time Maharashtra Kesari winner and prominent UBT leader Chandrahar Patil from Western Maharashtra joined the Shiv Sena along with several supporters from western Maharashtra. The defection comes ahead of key municipal elections, adding to the list of high-profile exits from the UBT camp. 'Today, you've stepped out of a fake arena and into the real one. You've left behind the company of the cunning for that of the sincere,' Shinde told Patil. 'Though I am not a wrestler, in 2022 I floored my opponents so thoroughly that they still haven't got back on their feet,' he added, in a veiled reference to the UBT leadership. Recalling the period following his rebellion, Shinde said, 'I was targeted with daily accusations and insults. He emphasised that the Sena under his leadership remains committed to the ideals of Balasaheb Thackeray. 'This is not a party of mockery and arrogance. It's a party built by and for grassroots workers. Balasaheb treated his colleagues as equals, but after him, some began treating workers like subordinates. They forgot that pride doesn't last forever.'

Left, Dalit groups protest over police torture
Rajamahendravaram: CPI, CPM, CPI (ML) New Democracy, and various Dalit rights organisations organised a protest here on Monday, condemning the police assault on Dalit and minority youth in Tenali. The protest began with floral tributes at the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. Speaking at the protest, CPI leader Tatipaka Madhu and CPM leader T Arun recalled past instances of police brutality under the previous YSRCP government, including the cases of Dr Sudhakar and driver Subrahmanyam. They stated that such incidents were a key reason people voted out the YSRCP and elected the alliance government. However, they alleged that despite a change in government, Dalits still remain unprotected, citing the latest Tenali incident as proof. The leaders said that even if the three youths were found using ganja or involved in any wrongdoing, they should have been arrested and produced before the court in accordance with the law. 'Police have no authority to beat people in public. Such acts are unconstitutional and inhuman,' they said. They strongly criticised Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha for not condemning the incident and instead defending the police action. 'It is outrageous that Dalit youth were stomped on with boots and beaten up on a road,' they said. Questioning Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's silence, the leaders said, 'He was quick to respond to remarks made against Amaravati women. Why is he silent now when Dalits are being brutally assaulted?' Dalit organisation leaders Korukonda Chiranjeevi, Jangam Subbarao, and S Vijay Kumar urged the alliance government to respect the Constitution and the rule of law. They reminded that the Supreme Court and human rights bodies have ruled against custodial torture. Chikatla Venkateswara Rao, district assistant secretary of New Democracy, demanded the immediate suspension of the Tenali CI and SI and called for a thorough investigation into the incident. Several prominent leaders, including CPI district assistant secretary K Rambabu, city secretary V Kondala Rao, assistant secretary Sappa Ramana, CPM district leaders B Pavan Poornima Raju, New Democracy leaders K Sattibabu and V Chittibabu, and CPI leaders P Lavanya, K Srinivas, and T Nageswara Rao, participated n this protest.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat bats for 'Swadeshi' products – ‘our country's money should stay within our borders'
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has called on students, businessmen, and the public to reflect on how they can contribute to the country's development by pledging to use 'Swadeshi' products—those made within India— in their daily lives. Bhagwat emphasised that only a deep sense of patriotism in everyday life can propel both individuals and the nation forward, enabling comprehensive progress. 'Can we resolve to use domestically-produced goods in our personal lives?' Bhagwat asked while addressing students and businessmen of Shiksha Varg camp in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh on 10 June. 'Let this resolution begin with the self, expand to our families and neighbourhoods and ultimately inspire the nation. Our country's money should stay within our borders and be used for our own progress,' he said. "This resolution should start with our own lives and spread through our families, localities, cities, and states. The money earned in our country should remain in the country and be used for its development. We must conduct our lives with this mindset," Bhagwat said. The RSS chief's remarks echo Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to reduce dependence on foreign goods and use domestically made products instead, saying it is vital to India's goal of becoming a developed nation and the world's third-largest economy by 2047. Modi's remarks came in the wake of a four-day conflict with Pakistan, triggered by Pahalgam terror attack. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor – the precision attack on terrorist camps across the border. The RSS is idealogical mentor of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The RSS chief called upon students to become ideal professionals and inspiring examples for others in their fields. He also highlighted the important role society plays alongside the army and government in ensuring national security. "We should all think about what we can do for the benefit of the country," he said. Our country's money should stay within our borders and be used for our own progress.
