Love Island and The Traitors go head-to-head in huge awards clash

Daily Mirror07-07-2025
All the reality shows that have been nominated for this year's annual National Reality TV Awards have been announced and Love Island and The Traitors will be vying for one of the top prizes
Two of Britain's biggest reality juggernauts, Love Island and The Traitors, are set for a fierce showdown at this year's National Reality Television Awards (NRTA).
The fourteenth annual ceremony for the NRTAs will take place at London's Porchester Hall on July 30. Both Love Island UK (Season 12) and The Traitors UK (Series 3) have landed nominations in the coveted Best Reality Competition Show category, going head-to-head against other audience favourites including Strictly Come Dancing, The Apprentice, Celebrity Big Brother 24, and The Great British Bake Off.

The public has the power to decide this year's winner via online voting at www.telephonos.com until July 26. The NRTA has cemented its reputation as the only awards show where both nominations and final results are entirely determined by the public.

The awards show received a record-breaking 2.7 million submissions this year. Organisers say this figure reflects the continuing dominance of reality television across streaming services, broadcast networks, and the booming creator economy.
In a nod to the changing landscape, the 2025 NRTA has introduced several new categories celebrating the rise of streamed content and digital creators.
Those include Best Streamed Reality Series, Best Platform for Reality Streaming Content, and Best Reality-Based Streamer, which acknowledge the influence of platforms like Twitch, TikTok Live, and YouTube Live on modern entertainment consumption.
Meanwhile, the high-profile Celebrity Personality of the Year award is shaping up to be another hotly contested category. Nominees range from reality TV royalty like Rylan Clark (Rob & Rylan's Grand Tour) and Angellica Bell ( Celebrity Big Brother 2025) to household names Amanda Holden and Oti Mabuse. Former I'm a Celebrity winner Danny Jones is also in the running.
The NRTAs have also seen nominations for docu-series such as Louis Theroux: The Settlers, lifestyle hits like A Place in the Sun, and dating favourites including Married at First Sight UK and Virgin Island.
Podcasts are also getting their time to shine, with Steven Bartlett's The Diary of a CEO and Mo Gilligan's Beginning, Middle & End among those vying for Best Podcast 2025.
This year's ceremony will be broadcast live on VooVix TV, so that fans across the globe can tune in for reality television's big night. Attendees can also get VIP tickets to watch the event live at https://ticketrepublic.org/event/national-reality-television-awards-2025/127

Maya Jama shows off her incredible figure in plunging swimsuit as she soaks up the sun in Ibiza

Maya Jama showed off her incredible figure as she shared a series of photos from her trip to Ibiza. The Love Island host, who has been celebrating her 31st birthday, wore a plunging swimsuit in the update. The two-piece, by Chanel, featured multi-coloured stripes and a zip front top with matching bottoms. Maya later changed into turquoise set which featured a strappy top, that tied around her waist and a matching pleated skirt. Posing for photos, she styled her hair into beachy waves and added a winged eyeliner to complete her look. The presenter captioned the update: 'Never ending Leo season.' Earlier his week Maya put her incredible bikini body on full display as she shared a series of holiday snaps from her quick trip to Ibiza with pal AJ Odudu. The Love Island host was wearing a leopard-print bikini as she lounged on a sunbed beside a fruit platter and a bottle of Moet champagne and Don Julio tequila. Keeping herself cool, she wore a baseball hat but otherwise kept the attention on her jaw-dropping bikini body while soaking up the sun. Revealing that she was only briefly on the Balearic island with AJ, 37, following the end of her ITV2 hosting duties, Maya wrote: '24hrs to play.' The pair hit a club together and were all smiles as they posed on the dancefloor fanning themselves. Meanwhile it was reported ITV bosses are pulling out all the stops to keep Love Island host Maya with a mega deal worth almost £2million on the table. The TV favourite has become the jewel in the crown of the dating show since taking over in 2023. And executives are determined not to lose her to rivals such as Netflix and Amazon. Earlier this week Maya put her incredible bikini body on full display as she shared a series of holiday snaps from her quick trip to Ibiza with pal AJ Odudu Under the proposed deal, Maya would pocket more than £800,000 to front the flagship summer series, the same again for the winter All Stars version, plus a hefty sum for hosting After Sun. The presenter's mix of star power, wit and her jaw-dropping style is thought to have made her one of ITV's most bankable names. A source told The Sun: 'Maya is a massive hit with fans and bosses. ITV are desperate not to lose her. 'They're acutely aware that she's being offered lucrative work with other companies such as Netflix. She's hugely in demand.' They added: 'It is still early days but bosses are preparing an extremely good package for Maya that she would find hard to turn down.' The Daily Mail contacted ITV and Maya's representatives at the time. Bristol-born Maya, currently dating Manchester City ace Ruben Dias, 28, has been linked to a new Amazon Prime entertainment show, rumoured to come with a huge pay cheque. She's also branching into acting and has landed herself a role as a gangster's wife in Guy Ritchie's Netflix hit The Gentleman.

Tommy Fury opens up on 'tricky' dynamic with Molly-Mae Hague over parenting

Tommy Fury spoke about co-parenting his daughter Bambi with Molly-Mae Hague in the second episode of his new BBC Three series Tommy: The Good. The Bad. The Fury Former Love Island star Tommy Fury has revealed that he has a different approach to parenting compared to Molly-Mae Hague. He's said that their daughter Bambi "knows she can't get away" with anything when she's with her mother. ‌ The boxer, 26, spoke about being a parent in his reality TV show Tommy: The Good. The Bad. The Fury, which launched on BBC Three earlier tonight. In the second episode, filmed towards the end of last year following his split from Molly-Mae, now 26, he opened up about co-parenting whilst living separately from the content creator and Bambi, now two. ‌ Tommy, who has since reconciled with Molly-Mae, said that it had proved "tricky" to co-parent since she moved out of the home they shared with their daughter. He then teased that Molly-Mae offered more discipline as a parent than him. ‌ Amid scenes of Bambi staying at Tommy's house with him, he said on the show: "Obviously it's tricky because Molly's at her house and I'm here at the minute. When Bambi's here, it's all me, and when she's there, it's all her, so it is tricky." Tommy continued by saying: "I'm wrapped around her little finger ten times so I'll literally do anything for her. But at least with Molly she knows she can't get away with it But with me, she definitely can. She can get away with murder." The release of the episode comes after Molly-Mae has spoken about challenges as a parent in recent months, with her suggesting recently that Bambi is "testing boundaries" at the moment. She was seen in tears in one vlog, released last month. She told fans at the time: "I feel like I need to keep my camera running all day so you guys like actually just see ... it's like every single thing is a huge problem. Like [Bambi is] screams and can't even get like socks and shoes on." ‌ Molly-Mae also addressed the suggestion that she's "out of touch," after complaining about struggling with parenting lately, in the same vlog. She said: "I don't care who tells me I'm out of touch with reality or like all this stuff that's going on on TikTok at the minute. [...] I don't care like I'm not gonna not talk about it." In the second episode of his show, Tommy also spoke about hoping to live with Molly-Mae and Bambi again in the future. He said: "You just dream of one day, y'know, them coming back and the house to be filled with joy again. Y'know, I hope that one day everything can sort itself out and we can live here as a family again." ‌ And in the first episode, Tommy spoke about them having moved out as he once again dismissed previous speculation that cheating had led to him splitting up from Molly-Mae. He said: "The reason for our end in the relationship was alcohol." He said that he had been "drinking a lot" whilst unable to train after injuring one of his hands. Tommy later said that he didn't expect Molly-Mae to leave him. He went on to say that he was "drunk" when his fiancée and Bambi left their home, adding: "So I don't actually remember it that well, which was even more upsetting." Tommy: The Good. The Bad. The Fury continues on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer next Tuesday from 9pm. The first six episodes are available through BBC iPlayer now.

Maya Jama sparkles in rainbow swimming costume after swapping Love Island for Ibiza

MAYA Jama reaches for the skies in a rainbow swimming costume after swapping Love Island for the Party Isle. The presenter, who turned 31 last week, posed in the sun during a getaway trip to Ibiza. 2 2 Alongside the image, which she posted on her Instagram site, she referenced her star sign by writing: 'Never ending leo season.' We recently revealed how ITV chiefs hope to tempt Maya Jama into staying on as Love Island presenter with a deal reputed to be worth nearly £2million. Impressed execs are desperate to keep the glam 30-year-old amid reports she is being courted by suitors such as Netflix. Sources say ITV are willing to offer her more than £800,000 to host the main series in the summer, and the same amount to host the All Stars version of the show in the winter. And there would be extra cash for her role on the After Sun show which goes out on ITV2 after the main Love Island programme. A source said: ' Maya is a huge hit with fans and the bosses. 'ITV are desperate not to lose her. 'They're acutely aware that she's being offered lucrative work with other companies such as Netflix. 'She's hugely in demand. 'Maya is proud to be part of Love Island and bosses want her to continue with the series for the All Stars and summer format. 'It is still early days but bosses are preparing an extremely good package for Maya that she would find hard to turn down.' The Bristol-born star began hosting the steamy series in 2023 after taking over from Laura Whitmore.
