The Fold Test: Can Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 Handle Over 200,000 Fold And Survive?

News183 days ago
Samsung's new Galaxy Z Fold 7 model has gotten lighter but how does it handle the durable folding test?
Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 version has become lighter and thinner than ever before. The new fold is easy on the pocket (size-wise) and the dimensions make it easy to use with one hand. But has that sleekness come at the cost of durability?
One YouTuber decided to test the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with around 200,000 folds using hands in real time to see if the foldable can last these rough challenges and still work as normal. IT Tech is the channel that has tried out this ambitious test and even decided to tell its viewers how the Fold handles thousands of folds at every interval.
The YouTuber claimed that the Z Fold 7 rebooted between 6,000 and 10,000 folds without giving the exact reason. Then, around 75,000 folds, they noticed a liquid coming out from the hinge mechanism of the foldable which is never a good sign.
The foldable started making a crackling sound by the time the Fold 7 reached 100,000 folds. And just a few thousands of folds later, the crease on the screen started becoming more visible. Having said that, the platform said despite all these issues, the foldable was working in normal condition.
He did notice the speakers on the Fold 7 fail around the 175,000 mark but did notice the device working and surviving the total of 200,000 folds. These tests can be subjective, based on how many folds you handle in a day but the person actually putting it through a real life test shows you the improved durability of the Z Fold 7 which can handle a few years of these folds quite easily.
The new Galaxy Z Fold 7 is priced at Rs 1,74,999 in India and you get it in a shiny blue colour this year. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, gets 120Hz LTPO displays on both sides, and features a new 200MP primary camera. The device has gotten thinner but the 4,400mAh battery will have some people worried about its efficiency in daily usage.

In a first, electric 2-wheelerregistrations decline in Karnataka

Bengaluru: For the first time, Karnataka has recorded a decline in electric two-wheeler registrations. In 2024–25, more than 1.3 lakh e-scooters and bikes were registered — down from more than 1.4 lakh in 2023–24. This dip comes despite zero registration tax on e-two-wheelers and increasing options in the market. In total, more than 12.9 lakh two-wheelers, both electric and petrol, were registered in the state during the year. On average, 3,170 petrol-powered two-wheelers were registered each day, compared to just 370 electric ones. Transport department officials attribute the decline to limited fast-charging infrastructure. "Short-distance urban commuters prefer e-scooters, and we have seen consistent growth. But with slow home charging and few fast-charging options, interest seems to have dipped," a senior official said. "I feel nervous using it in the rain or on bad roads," he added. E-cars & autos grow Even as electric two-wheeler registrations slowed, electric cars continued to rise — from 10,299 in 2023–24 to 12,191 in 2024–25. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like I am closing my jewelry shop forever... Sheryl Duncan Shop Now Undo The state had only 186 registered e-cars in 2019–20, crossing the 10,000 mark for the first time last year. While buyers earlier benefited from a lifetime road tax exemption, a 10% tax was introduced in March 2024 for e-cars priced above Rs 25 lakh. E-autos also saw a sharp increase. From just 68 in 2019–20, registrations crossed 5,000 in 2024–25. Exemption from permit requirements encouraged growth, especially among aggregators and individual drivers. However, the state has now made permits mandatory for all new and existing e-autos. The state's push for public transport electrification has led to growth in e-bus registrations. From just two in 2020–21, the number rose to 731 in 2024–25. The transition is driven by state-run road transport corporations under the electric mobility policy. Despite the current setback in the two-wheeler segment, officials believe improved infrastructure and awareness will help revive interest. "As fast-charging networks expand and confidence grows, numbers are likely to bounce back," a transport official said. —--- Discounts scaled back: Expert An industry expert said the two-wheeler market "remains stagnant, and within it, the EV segment has also seen a slight decline." A major manufacturer that once offered heavy discounts to improve market share scaled them back last year to focus on profitability, he said. "Two other leading players also reduced their discount-led strategies," the expert added. Reduced subsidies have further dented sales. "Buyers earlier benefited from substantial incentives, but these have been cut sharply, leading to a drop in volumes," he said. Charging infrastructure gaps persist, especially the lack of standardised connectors. While Bengaluru faces fewer issues due to higher EV awareness, less mature markets struggle. Most city users plan their travel and charge at home, he said. New models at varied price points and the festive season could boost sentiment and bring an uptick in demand, the expert said.
