Browns WR Isaiah Bond scouting report from Dane Brugler pre-draft

New Cleveland Browns wide receiver Isaiah Bond went undrafted in the 2025 NFL draft, predominantly due to an on-going legal issue. However, there has been no doubting his high-potential talent that he put on tape during his time at both Alabama (with Browns offensive coordinator Tommy Rees) and Texas. While he went undrafted because of his open court case, what did NFL draft analysts think about Bond? Who better to reference in this case than The Athletic's Dane Brugler? He is one of the best in the business for a reason, so let's turn to his scouting report and assessment of the Browns' newest receiver. Here is what Brugler had to say on Bond in his annual draft guide, The Beast, this past April: "A former track star, Bond is a loose, twitchy athlete with big-time speed, which makes him a threat to make a house call every time he touches the ball. Aside from staying healthy, he needs to improve the discipline and rhythm of his routes and break bad habits at the catch point, although he might never have the play strength to win contested targets. Overall, Bond has unquestioned athletic talent and upside, but he will need to prove to be more reliable within the structure of an offense for an NFL coaching staff to trust him. There is a boom-or-bust element to his projection, but the 'boom' will be pretty appealing on Day 2." Brugler went on to give Bond a third round grade in his NFL draft guide. If the Browns get the most out of Bond, that "boom" that Brugler is referencing, he has the chance to be a high-end playmaker in the offense. However, there are obvious reasons why Bond didn't produce at Texas despite the ecosystem he was insulated in with Steve Sarkisian. The tools are there, but can the Browns get the consistency out of Bond?

"They'd come out there and destroy you, win games, but with a big smile" - Tyson Chandler calls Luka Doncic modern-day Magic Johnson

"They'd come out there and destroy you, win games, but with a big smile" - Tyson Chandler calls Luka Doncic modern-day Magic Johnson originally appeared on Basketball Network. Luka Doncic always performs at his best when the lights are brightest. Even when he was criticized for being out of shape, he was still among the best players in the Association. But according to Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Tyson Chandler, Doncic doesn't just deliver in big games. He also stands out in practices. "Luka was one of the best players I've ever seen on the court and in practice. Of course, we all see what Luka does in the game, but I'm speaking about practice, because it's very difficult to impress your peers. Luka does things that I've never seen before. That's difficult. I've been around the game for a long time, and there are very few special players that will show you some things that you've never seen before. And Luka was one of those players," said Chandler. Tyson sees Magic in Luka Chandler had the privilege of watching Doncic up close and personal in Dallas. After helping the Mavericks win the 2011 NBA title, the 2012 NBA Defensive Player of the Year was among the ex-players hired by the franchise under the "Mavs Legends" coaching program initiated by former majority owner Mark Cuban. And although his work as player development coach focused more on big men like Dwight Powell, Kristaps Porzingis and later Dereck Lively and Daniel Gafford, Chandler was in the same gym with Doncic. He saw how hard he worked on a daily basis in practice and said the Slovenian reminded him of Magic Johnson. "I would always call him Luka Magic because he reminded me of a European version of Magic Johnson. This new age, Luka is his own player, but Magic was the older generation of somebody with a smile that was the killer. They'd come out there and destroy you, win games, but with a big smile. He's just such a joy to watch, and I love watching him. Nothing but great things to say about Luka," Chandler Cuban also compared Luka to Magic Not surprisingly, Cuban, who masterminded the draft day trade that brought the Slovenian phenom to the Mavericks, also compared Doncic to Johnson. But aside from his uncanny passing skills and willingness to take the big shots, which reminded him of the Showtime Lakers' point guard, he also likened Luka's aura to Magic. "Millennials just have a different mind about them and different interests. On social media, he lights people up. He lights kids up. Wherever we're playing, he's spending time talking to kids, bringing kids onto the court," Cuban said. "His game's most like Magic Johnson's, but his personality, I think, is almost bigger than Magic Johnson's." Interestingly, fate has brought Luka to Magic's former NBA city, and Doncic now gets to play Johnson's role for his team. The Slovenian recently signed a three-year extension with the Lakers and is expected to double down with a $400 million-plus deal when he becomes eligible in 2028. The organization can only hope he will lead them to multiple championships like Johnson did during the 80s. After all, that's what made the latter story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Aug 18, 2025, where it first appeared.

POSITION PREVIEW: Linebackers

Only one Saturday remains between now and the first game of Texas A&M's season. Today, we're taking a look at one of the most pivotal positions on the football field: the linebackers. Who did we lose? Solomon DeShields represents the biggest loss in production for the Aggies at the linebacker position. Deshields mostly played in a relief role but did make one start last season. DeShields has moved on to the NFL. Who do we bring back? Taurean York and Scooby Williams were starters at linebacker for Texas A&M most of last season, and the Aggies get both back in 2025. They'll be the core of a defense that is expecting big improvements in 2025. Jordan Lockhart and Tristan Jernigan both return for their sophomore seasons, while Daymion Sanford returns for his junior season. Sanford represents quality and experienced depth for the Aggies, while both Lockhart and Jernigan will look to contribute more after playing sparingly in 2024. What other names should we know? Linebacker was not a position group that Texas A&M felt it needed to address in the portal over the course of the off-season. The Aggies did bring in two freshman backers, however. I don't expect Noah Mikhail or Kelvion Riggins to be called on too much, but both could make appearances, given the physical nature of the SEC and the possibility for injury. Overall Grade: B This is a group that brings both solid production and experience back for 2025. Taurean York is the leader of this locker room, and I expect a better season out of him in 2025. If Scooby Williams can stay healthy, this makes for a really solid duo. Behind Williams and York, Sanford's experience helps provide solid depth and familiarity with Mike Elko's system. I also think Lockhart will see a lot of time on the field in 2025. I need to see more playmaking ability out of this group to move them any higher, but Texas A&M should feel good about what they have at the position this season.
