HBO Max drops new trailer and sets premiere date for 'Mare of Easttown' creator's new crime thriller — and I can't wait to stream it

HBO Max has just given us another look at "Task," the next show from "Mare of Easttown" creator Brad Ingelsby, and it looks intense.
I was already ready to stream the new crime thriller when HBO dropped the first "Task" teaser back in May, and the full trailer only has me more intrigued. Check it out below:
Task | Official Trailer | HBO Max - YouTube Watch On
Set to Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here", the new "Task" trailer feels like it amps things up massively.
The former teaser mostly felt like an introduction to our two main men — Mark Ruffalo and Tom Pelphrey — but here, we get way more of a taste of what's in store.
It's a trailer stuffed with conflict. There's violence, there's emotional stakes, brawls, shootouts, and much more. And seeing as all this is spread across just seven episodes, it looks like "Task" is about to be an intense watch when it arrives in the fall.
If you're as keen to stream "Task" as I am, you'll be pleased we don't have to wait much longer. Alongside this new trailer, we've also gotten a release date — and it's streaming soon.
Previously, we only knew the new show was coming to our screens in September, but HBO has now confirmed "Task" premieres Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 9 p.m. ET.

New episodes will debut on a weekly basis, meaning the finale should air on October 19 (unless plans change).

If you're not up to speed on the forthcoming show, "Task" is a crime drama that takes us back to Philadelphia for another story set within the city's suburbs.
Here's the series logline from HBO Max: "Set in the working class suburbs of Philadelphia, an FBI agent (Mark Ruffalo) heads a Task Force to put an end to a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man (Tom Pelphrey)."
In addition to Ruffalo and Pelphrey, the "Task" cast also includes Emilia Jones, Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Thuo Mbedu, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, Raúl Castillo, Silvia Dionicio, and Phoebe Fox.

Taylor Swift Reveals ‘Life of a Showgirl' Release Date, Album Cover & Track List Featuring Sabrina Carpenter

All Swiftie eyes were on Taylor Swift's social media accounts Wednesday (Aug. 13), as the pop star finally revealed details about her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, after days of teasing. As shared by the pop superstar promptly at 7 p.m. ET on Instagram, her 12th studio LP will arrive Oct. 3, featuring a collaboration with former Eras Tour opener Sabrina Carpenter on the title track. The only producers on the credits are Max Martin and Shellback, the team behind some of Swift's biggest 1989 and Reputation hits. The full-length opens with a song titled 'The Fate of Ophelia,' 'Elizabeth Taylor,' 'Opalite,' 'Father Figure,' 'Cancelled!' and more. 'And, baby, that's show business for you,' Swift wrote in her caption. The announcement dropped at the same time as a countdown ended on the musician's website, which now has four different variants of Life of a Showgirl available to order: the 'Sweat and Vanilla Perfume' edition, the 'It's Frightening' edition, the 'It's Rapturous' edition and the 'It's Beautiful' edition. Each version features different artwork and photo cards as well as a jewelry box with a different collectible charm bracelet. Also at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Swift's guest appearance on an episode of boyfriend Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast premiered. The installment — on which the pop star spoke about the new album, finishing her Eras Tour and reclaiming her masters — arrived just two days after the Kelce brothers first started teasing that Swift would guest on New Heights by sharing a photo of a blacked-out silhouette with a glittery orange background. '92%ers, we're coming back early for a special episode with a VERY special guest,' they wrote on social media Monday (Aug. 11). At 12:12 a.m. ET the following morning, Swift confirmed that she had a new album on the way through a New Heights teaser video that dropped on socials, in which she shared the LP's title. 'So I wanted to show you something,' she'd said in the clip from the episode, holding up a blurred-out copy of her new LP as Travis beamed beside her. 'This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl.' The Life of a Showgirl will mark Swift's first full-length since 2024's The Tortured Poets Department, which spent 17 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. See the announcement below. Did Jack Antonoff, Aaron Dessner work on Taylor Swift's album? Who is Max Martin?

It's a big day for Swifties: TS12 is coming. Taylor Swift officially announced she is releasing her 12th studio album, "The Life of a Showgirl," in a "New Heights" podcast teaser, released at 12:12 a.m. ET Aug. 12. In her recent eras, Swift has worked with producers Jack Antonoff and Cincinnati native Aaron Dessner. So did they have any involvement in this upcoming record? Here's what we know. Did Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner produce Taylor Swift's new album? This could not be 100% confirmed, as of Aug. 12, although rumors and speculation point to Antonoff and Dessner being absent from this album, and Max Martin and Shellback taking over producing duties. Swift also launched a Spotify playlist Tuesday titled "And, baby, that's show business for you," which has 22 of her songs that were all produced by Max Martin and Shellback, according to Billboard. That's not to say, even if Dessner and Antonoff aren't listed on the initial tracks, that Swift could not release surprise or deluxe songs with her longtime producers. Who is Max Martin? Who is Shellback? Martin is a producer who has worked on numerous pop hits with the likes of Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Celine Dion, Ariana Grande and NSYNC. In 2024, he broke the record for most No. 1 songs by a producer in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Martin co-wrote and produced songs on Swift's "Red," "1989" and "Reputation" albums. Shellback is also a producer who has worked with pop superstars, including Swift, Adele and more. He has won four Grammy awards and also worked on "Red and "1989." What Taylor Swift albums did Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner produce? Antonoff has worked on every Swift album since (and including) "1989." Dessner has been part of "Folklore," "Evermore," the 3am edition of "Midnights," "The Tortured Poets Department" and various vault tracks.
