Minor detained in robbery at gunpoint in Talawade
According to the police, the victim, Vijay Bhalerao, 36, a resident of Talawade, was returning from his friend's birthday celebration at Marunji along with Praniket Jagtap on Sunday when the duo came across a white-coloured Swift (car) with tinted glasses being rashly driven. Bhalerao tried to overtake the car multiple times but in vain. At one point when he was trying to overtake, the Swift stopped right in front of his car and the driver got out of the Swift and started abusing Bhalerao. Two other persons got out of the car even as the driver proceeded to hold a gun to Bhalerao's head, threatening him. Meanwhile, Bhalerao's friend, Jagtap, too, was hit on the head with a gun. The accused snatched Bhalerao's two tola gold chain and licensed firearm and fled from the spot. Bhalerao was carrying a licensed pistol as he is a businessman with dealings in land, development etc. Later, he filed a complaint against three unknown persons at Chikhali police station.
Vitthal Salunkhe, senior police inspector, Chikhali police station, said, 'As of now, we have detained a minor involved in this case and the search for the other accused is underway.'
A case has been filed at Chikhali police station under sections 109, 309 (6), 127 (2), 352 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS); section 3 (25) of the Arms Act; and sections 3 and 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act. An FIR has been lodged, and the police are on the lookout for the other two accused.

Weeks after man found dead near Karni shooting range in Delhi, 2 arrested for murder
The Delhi Police Friday arrested two men for the murder of a man whose body was discovered on a road near Karni Singh Shooting Range last month. The police said the deceased, identified as Rakesh, 35, from Ambedkar Camp in Madangir, was killed by the accused for his alleged extramarital relationship with the wife of one of them and for his failure to repay a loan owed to the man. On July 11, a banana vendor on his way to work spotted the body on Surajkund Road and called the police. A police team reached the location and found the body with no identification. The South East police formed 12 separate teams to piece together what had happened. The police examined around 500 CCTV feeds from MB Road, Surajkund Road, and Sangam Vihar. They also questioned local residents and passersby but did not find any clues. The police finally identified the deceased by comparison of fingerprints. 'On local inquiry in Madangir area, it was disclosed that the victim earned his livelihood while working as a painter,' said Hemant Tiwari, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South East. Following a post-mortem examination, the police filed a case under sections 103(1) [murder] and 238(a) [causing the disappearance of evidence or providing false information to screen an offender] of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During the police's review of CCTV footage from Madangir, one frame showed a man wearing the same shirt as the victim. He was identified Gaurav, 25, a resident of Madangir. When questioned, the police said, Gaurav revealed that one Vanketesh had assaulted the victim at his house. The police then conducted a raid at Vanketesh's house and his son-in-law Ritik Diwakar, 24, told the police that he had witnessed the assault. 'He said his father-in-law, Vankatesh, and Gaurav had beaten Rakesh at the house using a belt, a plastic rod and later punched and kicked him and hit his head on the wall forcibly,' said DCP Tiwari. The police arrested the accused based on Diwakar's account and later recovered the auto-rickshaw the duo allegedly used to transport and dump Rakesh's body near the shooting range. They also seized the belt and plastic rod that the accused allegedly used in the assault. During the interrogation, Venkatesh confessed that he suspected a relationship between his wife and Rakesh, said the police. They also said Venkatesh claimed to have lent Rakesh money several times, which was never repaid. Venkatesh, 47, has a prior case registered under the Excise Act at the Ambedkar Nagar police station, while Gaurav has a case under the Arms Act at the same police station, said the police.

Aiims-Patna services hit as doctors strike over MLA's conduct enters day 3
Healthcare services at Aiims-Patna remained affected for the third consecutive day on Sunday as resident doctors continued their strike against the alleged high-handedness of Sheohar MLA Chetan Anand. Representatives of the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) have called a general body meeting on Sunday to discuss their future course of action. A delegation of the RDA members met with senior officials of the hospital on Saturday as efforts are being made to break the logjam. "During the meeting, we were given assurances. We demand full transparency and accountability through the immediate public release of the CCTV footage related to the incident. This is essential to ensure truth prevails and justice is served," the RDA said in a statement on Saturday. "The administration assured us of full institutional legal assistance for resident doctors and security staff who have been falsely implicated. The administration also assured us that the process to install CCTV cameras in high-risk areas such as the Trauma Centre, Emergency Department, Labour Room, and ICUs will be initiated within 72 hours," it added. The RDA said that it was demanding the immediate quashing of the "false FIR" against a doctor. "We demand the invocation of sections of the Arms Act in the investigation, considering the grave threat posed by the presence of weapons in a healthcare setting," it said, adding that the strike will continue "until further notice". Emergency, OPD and other services were affected as a result of the strike. The RDA had earlier alleged, "The MLA, his wife and his armed guards forcibly entered the hospital area, physically assaulted security staff, threatened resident doctors with death and brandished a firearm within hospital premises. A hospital guard was brutally injured, and resident doctors were subjected to threats and abuse inside their own workplace." Anand, the RJD-turned-JD(U) legislator, had lodged a police complaint, alleging that staffers ofAiims-Patna misbehaved with him and his wife during a visit to the hospital on Wednesday night. On Thursday, he told PTI that he and his wife were mistreated by hospital staffers when they went to visit a supporter admitted to the facility. "My wife and I went to see one of my supporters admitted atAiims on Wednesday night. I was not allowed to enter the hospital with my security guard. This prompted my wife to intervene," he had said. "At that moment, other staff members came and started misbehaving with my wife. They literally thrashed her. I had to intervene. My wife sustained injuries to her wrist and back. I was also held hostage by the staffers for some time. Finally, we went to the local police station and lodged a complaint," he added. The MLA's mother, Lovely Anand, is the JD(U) MP from the Sheohar Lok Sabha seat. Both sides have filed FIRs in connection with the incident, police said, noting that an investigation is underway.
