Maharashtra government approves stamp duty concessions for Dharavi redevelopment project

The Maharashtra cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod to
stamp duty concessions
for lease agreements between the
Special Purpose Vehicle
(SPV) created for the
Dharavi Redevelopment
Project and other agencies.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
An SPV has been established for the integrated redevelopment of Dharavi, one of the biggest slum sprawls in Asia which is located in central Mumbai.

The redevelopment project is a joint venture between the state government and the Adani group.
The redevelopment- rehabilitation scheme has been declared an 'essential urban and special project' and a policy to offer stamp duty concessions or exemptions for such projects has already been finalised, a statement from the Chief Minister's office said.

In line with the policy, a proposal was submitted to provide stamp duty concession for sub-lease agreements between the Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA), New Delhi and the Dharavi Redevelopment Project or the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), Mumbai.
The cabinet approved the inclusion of these documents under the stamp duty concession policy with the objective of accelerating the project, the statement said.
Among other decisions, the cabinet extended the deadline for availing loans from financial institutions -- Asian Development Bank (ADB) and New Development Bank (NDB) -- for
Mumbai Metro
Lines 2A (Dahisar East to D.N. Nagar), 2B (D.N. Nagar to Mandale), and Line 7 (Andheri East to Dahisar East).
A total loan amount of USD 1,075.74 million has been approved by ADB and NDB for these metro projects. Out of this, USD 549.25 million, equivalent to Rs 4,304.43 crore, has already been utilized. The Central Government had initially set a deadline of June 30, 2025, for raising the loan.
Metro Lines 2A and 7 have already become operational, while work on Metro Line 2B is progressing. A total of 96 metro trains were to be procured through the ADB loan, 60 of which have already been received.
With the loan deadline extended to December 31, 2026, the remaining 36 metro trains will also be procured under this arrangement.
Approval was also granted for the first phase (96.41 km) of the Virar-Alibag Multimodal Corridor to be developed under the 'Build, Operate and Transfer' model. The total length of the corridor is 126 km, and it passes through Vasai, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Ambernath, Panvel, Uran, Pen and Alibag.
The project will improve connectivity between major highways including Mumbai-Pune Expressway, JNPT, Mumbai Trans Harbour link and upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport. A provision of Rs 37,013 crore, including Rs 22,250 crore for land acquisition and Rs 14,763 crore towards interest, has been made.

Bhopal: The state govt has decided to procure moong and urad at minimum support price (MSP) in the interest of farmers. Moong will be procured at Rs 8,682 per quintal in 36 moong-producing districts, while urad will be procured at Rs 7,400 per quintal in 13 urad-producing districts, announced chief minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday. Farmers can register for procurement from June 19 to July 6, and procurement will take place from July 7 to Aug 6. Chief minister Yadav shared this information while addressing his ministerial colleagues ahead of the cabinet meeting held at Mantralaya. He also stated that several initiatives are underway in the state to promote investment. The chief minister also noted that Madhya Pradesh witnessed a 19.6% increase in tourism within a year. In 2024, a total of 13.41 crore tourists visited the state, which is 19.6% higher compared to 2023. This included 1.67 lakh foreign tourists. He remarked that Madhya Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a leading state in tourism. He directed the ministers to review welfare schemes being run by their respective departments and to share suggestions to make these initiatives more effective.

Indore: The industries department is planning to showcase potential land parcels, industrial belts and products falling under the One District One Product (ODOP) and Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged items list to industries and investors in the state govt's RISE (Regional Industry, Skill, and Employment) conclave happening in Ratlam in June. The industries department aims to attract investments on the 900-hectare land in Ratlam Investment Region, apart from other industrial belts in the conclave, to be organised on June 27 in Ratlam on the theme 'Successful Entrepreneur, Prosperous Industry, Inclusive Development'. The state govt plans to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) and Walmart during the conclave. Rajesh Rathod, executive director of the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) in Ujjain said, "The objective of the conclave is to focus on improving skill and increasing employment opportunities in the region by attracting investments from industries. Panaji: Over the past few years, bridge and road projects worth over Rs 14,000 crore have been funded by the Union ministry of road transport and highways in Goa. However, some of these infrastructure projects could soon cause losses to the ministry running into hundreds of crores. Contractors of three major projects have already gone in for arbitration in three separate cases, claiming that losses of Rs 300 to Rs 500 crore each have been caused to them due to delay in the projects, sources said. The contractors have said that the delays in the project execution occurred because Goa govt was unable to complete land acquisition for the road or bridge works within the required time. 'Three separate cases are already in the process of arbitration for road and bridge stretches in Cortalim, Mormugao, and Salcete. A fourth contractor is also in the process of taking the same route for work carried out in Pernem. The contractors have said that delays in land acquisition and changes to scope of work caused due to protests have caused them losses of around Rs 400 crore each,' said the source. The contractors have said that their machinery lying idle due to the delay in the works are some of the causes for the losses to them.
