Tributes pour in after drummer Daniel Williams and music agent Dave Shapiro named as victims in San Diego plane crash

Yahoo23-05-2025

The former drummer of a Christian rock band and a music agent were among those identified as victims of a deadly plane crash in a San Diego neighborhood before dawn on Thursday.
The fiery crash occurred around 3:47 a.m. when the small Cessna 550 abruptly crashed into the Murphy Canyon neighborhood, igniting cars and homes, and injuring eight people on the ground.
The exact number of victims, and the number of people on board the plane is still unknown, though it is believed that at least three were killed. Here's what we know about them so far.
Dave Shapiro the owner of Sound Talent Group, was the first person identified among the deceased, as confirmed by his company.
Shapiro, 42, was an avid pilot with over a decade of flying experience, though it was not immediately clear if he was flying the plane or if he was a passenger. He was also known in the music industry as a 'daredevil,' according to a Billboard report.
'We are devastated by the loss of our co-founder, colleagues and friends,' a spokesperson for Sound Talent Group told Billboard. 'Our hearts go out to their families and to everyone impacted by today's tragedy. Thank you so much for respecting their privacy at this time.'
'From BASE jumping to aerobatic flying, Helicopters to twin engines, flight instructing to furthering his own education, doesn't matter to Dave as long as he gets to be in the sky,' Shapiro's aviation website reads.
Shapiro, who worked with bands including Sum 41 and Pierce the Veil, was also a staunch supporter of independent music. He launched his own agency in 2018 with Tim Borror and Matt Anderson.
Daniel Williams was the former drummer of metal-core band The Devil Wears Prada, and was identified as a victim of the crash by his family, according to TMZ.
The outlet reported that the drummer's father, Larry Williams, said he had not received official confirmation from authorities, but that he was confident his son had been on the plane.
The Devil Wears Prada also posted a tribute to Williams on its official Instagram page. Sharing several pictures of him the band wrote 'No words. We owe you everything. Love you forever."
Just prior to the crash Williams had posted a photo of himself online in the copilot's seat of the small plane, with the caption 'Hey ... look at me ... I'm the (co) pilot now.' However, his father told TMZ that his son did not have a pilot's license.
In a post on X, podcast State of the Scene wrote: 'Heart goes out to Dave Shapiro and Daniel Williams' family and friends. What a f****** tragedy this week has been.'
Another fan shared a picture with Williams on X, describing him as a 'great guy' who 'always had the time of day to talk or take a pic in the probably 15 times I saw Prada between 06 and '13.' TDWP 'still remains my favorite band to this day. The drums on Plagues blew my mind when it came out & nothing's changed,' the fan added.
Another fan also described him as 'an inspiration'. 'This one hurts, man. Daniel Williams (founding drummer for The Devil Wears Prada) was one of my biggest drumming inspirations back in high school.'
'I looked up to him a lot and met him multiple times - he was always such a humble dude. Life is too short.'

Michelle Williams on ‘Dying for Sex,' finding the perfect role and embracing pleasure: ‘Can you leave shame at the door?'

Michelle Williams was pregnant when she first realized she wanted to be the one to tell the real life story of Molly Kochan, a young woman with Stage 4 terminal cancer who choses to make the most of her final years by exploring her unmet sexual desires. But there was an obvious roadblock. 'I couldn't do this job and have a baby in my stomach,' Williams shared with Gold Derby. So she reluctantly put the Dying for Sex aside and enjoyed a two-and-a-half year acting hiatus during which she welcomed her third child. More from GoldDerby Critics hail Celine Song's 'Materialists' as an 'exquisitely made' modern love story - not a 'glossy romantic comedy' Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro reunite, tease 'Meet the Parents 4' 'Heartwarming' yet 'bloated': Film critics are mixed on 'How to Train Your Dragon' live-action remake A five-time Academy Award nominee and Emmy winner, Williams has a knack for picking roles worthy of critical acclaim; and she kept coming back to Molly, telling Gold Derby 'I couldn't shake her.' Eventually, she inquired about the current status of the show to discovered it was yet to be cast after all that time — and she knew why. 'This was for me, this must be for me,' she said. 'I had such a strong connection with the material originally. That all this time had passed and it had gone unmade reinforced my magical feeling, my belief that this part and I were meant for each other.' Sarah Shatz/FX Williams was joined on stage in a post Dying for Sex screening panel by her costar Jenny Slate, who plays Molly's real-life best friend Nikki Boyer — Boyer, a producer on the series, was also in attendance along with Rob Delaney ['Neighbor Guy'] and writers and cocreators Kim Rosenstock and Liz Meriwether at the Dying for Sex FX presentation at Disney FYC Fest. Dying for Sex is based on Kochan and Boyer's Wondery podcast of the same name, so the cast was aware of where each boundary-pushing episode may take them as they explored everything from BDSM to animal role play and even golden showers, leaving Williams to wonder each time she received a new script, 'What situations am I going to find myself in?' But the actress admits there was no hesitation with the material, 'There's no 'Oh gosh, I don't want to do that,' or 'I feel uncomfortable.' It's just, I cannot believe that I get to do this crazy mash up of experiences and emotions.' Despite the physical exposure and vulnerability that was necessary in portraying these wild sexual adventures, Delaney says the real work was in examining the emotions behind the behavior. 'The emotional stuff you've really got to strip away and be honest and open. I'll speak for myself but I found that a lot harder than getting [literally] kicked in the balls.' For Williams, in telling Molly's story her own ideas around sex changed. 'Can you feel pleasure without shame?' She personally pondered while speaking with Gold Derby. 'Can you accept what you want and try and leave shame, which seems to be some sort of cultural inheritance as women, but can you leave shame at the door?' Despite her fearless and raw exploration of personal pleasure and sexual desire, when pressed for her conclusion she laughed. 'Working on it!' Drew Scott & Linda Phan Gave a Super-Rare Glimpse Into Making the ‘Back-To-Back Birthday Parties for Piper & Parker'

Having kids born close together is a logistics nightmare. When their birthdays are only days or weeks apart, it can be exhausting (and expensive!) to celebrate each child separately. And as a twin, Drew Scott knows the importance of making your kids feel special. That's why he and his wife Linda Phan came up with the coolest party hack to celebrate the 'back-to-back' birthdays of their kids Parker, born on May 4, 2022, and their daughter Piper, born on May 21, 2024. 'Linda and I threw back-to-back birthday parties for Piper and Parker last month, and let's just say…the kids weren't the only ones having a blast! 😄' the Property Brothers star captioned a new post on Instagram. He shared that he and Phan had a great time dressing up and making their own multi-purpose decorations. 'When it comes to hosting, we love getting the kids involved with DIY crafts, finding new ways to repurpose decorations, and keeping things fun and festive without the fuss. (Linda's creativity never ceases to amaze me!) Swipe for inspo➡️🎂,' he added. In the first photo, the couple smile next to a wagon covered in cardboard to turn it into a 'sea lab.' 'Making props with cardboard and paint is a fun way to get kids involved,' Scott explained. His first tip: 'start with a theme.' For Parker's 3rd birthday, the theme was 'under the sea,' and for Piper's first, it was 'French Pâtisserie.' Next, they made cute signage and rhymes to go with the party and set up a photo booth backdrop. For Parker, they put up blue and orange streamers; for Piper, they made a display with flowers and pastries. 'Try décor you can eat!' he suggested. Next up: 'attention to detail.' They wrapped blue paper sharks around paper cups and set up a table with pink glasses and blue-striped napkins. To save money, Scott recommends 'invest[ing] in décor you can reuse multiple times,' like mini disco balls that worked for both parties, and setting up a play and reading area with things they already had around the house. 'Put on a show' was next, as Scott shared photos of Phan, him, and others dressed up to do a puppet show for Parker's party and a live band to play music for Piper's party. Last but not least, have a fabulous cake! Parker's was in the shape of waves with toy sea animals to fit the theme, and Piper's had edible flowers that made for 'beautiful and easy decorations.' They definitely made the whole back-to-back party thing look easy! People praised these nice, yet relatively simple birthday parties in the comments. 'Kiddos parties are the best – love it! ❤️,' one person wrote. Someone else said, 'This is too cute for kids party 🎉 ideas enjoyed the pics' Last month, Scott shared adorable updates about his kids on their birthdays. For Piper, he shared a sweet video montage of one of her favorite things: dancing! 'POV: Your toddler dances to anything and everything,' he wrote over the video, adding in the caption, 'Happy 1st birthday to our little dancing queen! ❤️' When his son Parker turned 3, he wrote a little bit about what his toddler is into right now. 'To my walk and talk compadre, my dino wrangler, my coffee connoisseur, and my little foodie,' the HGTV star wrote on Instagram. 'You've made the past 3 years the best I could have imagined.' He added, 'I love you Parky!! Happy bday.' It may be challenging to celebrate two kids in the same month, but Scott is doing it with style — and he seems to be truly enjoying every minute with his little of SheKnows 27 Times Katherine Schwarzenegger Proved She's the Sweetest Mom 32 Celebrities Who Froze Their Eggs or Embryos From Free-Range to Fully Offbeat, These Celebs Embrace Unconventional Parenting Styles
