Sir Rod Stewart confirms he will bring 'three guests' on stage for Glastonbury
Sir Rod Stewart has confirmed he will be bringing three guests onto the Pyramid Stage for his Glastonbury set.
With just a few weeks to go, and Sir Rod cancelling gigs left, right and centre due to illness, some fans worried the 80-year-old may not be able to make his legends slot performance at the Worthy Farm festival on June 29.
As far as we can tell, Sir Rod is all set for his big Glastonbury appearance – the first since his 2002 headline slot – and the Maggie May singer is dropping further insights into what festival-goers can expect.
After confirming his former Faces bandmate and Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood will be joining him on stage for the coveted slot, now Sir Rod has announced there will be two further guests.
In an interview with the Radio Times ahead of his Las Vegas show cancellations, Sir Rod said of cramming his hits into one short set: 'It's difficult because they only gave me an hour-and-a-quarter slot. So I begged them: can I do another 15 minutes?
'Because usually I play for two hours. It means that there's a lot of songs that people love that I won't be able to play – and I've got three guests coming on,' he added, confirming they are singers.
He went on: 'It is a different gig. It's like when you're playing a cup final: you're trying to treat it like another game. But, of course, it's not. It's special. It'll be glamorous, it'll be sexy. And we've got a little orchestra coming on to play with us. And we may have some bagpipes…'
I'm absolutely thrilled to announce that I'll be playing @glastonbury 2025! After all these years, I'm proud and ready and more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June. I'll see you there! pic.twitter.com/YCeaPRhVUn — Sir Rod Stewart (@rodstewart) November 26, 2024
The singer, best known for songs including Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?, Every Beat Of My Heart, and Maggie May, revealed he always has a 'little gargle' on a rum and coke before going on stage.
'The vocal cords need a lot of looking after. I mean, they're absolute gold. I warm up for an hour, warm down for half an hour. And when I feel I'm losing my voice, I go into what they call 'voice rest' and wear a little card around my neck that says 'I can't talk. Don't talk to me,'' And it's remarkable how your voice will come back,' he said.
Taking to social media on June 7, Sir Rod announced the cancellations of six concerts US as he continues to 'recover from the flu'.
'So sorry my friends,' he said, adding: 'I'm devastated and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans. I'll be back on stage and will see you soon.'
It came after Sir Rod explained he wasn't 'feeling well' so was postponing his gig on Monday June 2 until June 10
While fans have worried about Sir Rod's Glastonbury Pyramid Stage slot given his illness, he's been seen out and about since, seemingly in good spirits.
Posting on social media, following the announcement, Sir Rod said: 'After all these years, I'm proud and ready and more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June. I'll see you there!' More Trending
Alongside legends slot performer Sir Rod, headliners include The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo, with Charli XCX also billed to perform on the Other Stage.
There are a few TBA slots and a secret set from a non-existent band called Patchwork, which many are speculating is Pulp.
Other secret sets are rumoured to be Lewis Capaldi after his emotional performance in 2023 – which was cut short due to physical and mental health struggles – as well as Lorde and US band HAIM.
Glastonbury opens its gates on Wednesday June 25, with performances taking place from Friday June 27.

Penny Lancaster, 54, wows in a floral midi dress as she enjoys a day out with son Alastair, 19, at the first day of Royal Ascot 2025
Penny Lancaster looked incredible as she attended at the first day of Royal Ascot 2025 in Berkshire on Tuesday. The wife of hitmaker Rod Stewart, 54, made the occasion a family affair, as she was accompanied by her son Alastair, 19. She cut a chic figure in a plunging vintage dress from Dolce and Gabbana, teamed with a Annabeth Fenley percher hat. The beauty added a pair of gold heels and toted her belongings in a stylish Lowe bee basket bag, worth a whopping £1,100. Meanwhile son Alastair looked ever the gentleman in a morning suit with a grey top hat. Penny was also joined by book editor Rosie Nixon, Penny showed off her chic sense of style in the fitted floral dress on Royal Ascot's first day. Royal Ascot, the jewel in the crown of the UK racing calendar, kicked off on Tuesday with the Queen Anne Stakes and will run until Saturday. King Charles and Camilla are likely to arrive in the famous carriage procession along the course and past the stands that will welcome hundreds of thousands of punters during the five-day meet. It is a royal tradition that has reached its 200th anniversary this year after it was first held in 1825 during the reign of King George IV. The festival was founded by Queen Anne in 1711 after she declared Ascot ideal for 'horses fit for kings' and it is now a major social event and sporting attraction. It comes after Sir Rod Stewart, 80, put on a very animated display as he posed next to his glamorous wife Penny at the Mission: Impossible 8 premiere in London last month. The couple joined plenty of famous faces on the red carpet in Leicester Square to celebrate Tom Cruise 's eighth and final instalment, The Final Reckoning. The film, which has faced multiple delays, finally hit cinemas on May 23 2025. Penny looked effortlessly chic in a yellow satin dress, while Rod bared his chest in a white ruffled shirt and rocked a trendy jacket. The loved-up pair, who have have been married since 2007, were joined by two young gentleman at the premiere. The Maggie May hitmaker, 80, has eight children with five different women, two of whom are sons Alastair, 19, and Aidan, 14, which he raises with third wife Penny, 54. Rod also has Liam, 30, and Renee, 32, with his second wife, model Rachel Hunter, 55, while Kimberly, 45, and Sean, 44, are from his first marriage to actress Alana Stewart, 79. Daughter Ruby, 37, is from a former relationship with model Kelly Emberg, 65 and Rod's firstborn child is Sarah Streeter, 61, who was raised by her adoptive parents Gerald and Evelyn Thubron. Rod's daughter Kimberly showed off her growing baby bump as she made a surprise appearance at the American Music Awards. The model and her siblings Sean, Ruby, Renee, and Liam surprised their famous dad on stage at the ceremony as he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Kimberly announced in March that she was pregnant with her second child, which will be her famous father's fifth grandchild. Los Angeles based Kimberly is already a mum to 13-year-old daughter Delilah Genoveva Stewart, who she shares with her ex-flame Benicio del Toro. She looked radiant in a figure-hugging black dress in a snap shared on Instagram as she joined her family at the star-studded event at BleauLive Theater at Fontainebleau Las Vegas on Monday. Kimberly did not reveal who the father of the baby was, only that she was expecting a son. Singing icon Rod was so shocked to see his family at Monday's ceremony that he dropped an F-bomb that was edited out of the broadcast. 'I'm so f***ing overwhelmed that you're here,' he said lovingly to his kids, according to reporter at the ceremony. However, the version that aired on CBS featured a clumsy cut away from Stewart during his cursing to a bizarre shot of audience members, who were holding up their phones to film his speech. Instead of beeping the profanity, CBS appeared to just snip out the offending word, resulting in a jarring return to his speech mid-word. Rod said he was 'absolutely flabbergasted' because he had no idea that his children were going to be attending the ceremony, much less giving him a warm introduction. 'I thought you had recorded it earlier!' he said of their introduction.

Glastonbury bosses tell Sir Rod Stewart to cut short his show as he reveals the staggering cost to perform at the festival
He has penned over 195 songs and sold 120million records worldwide throughout his 60-year career. But Glastonbury Festival have denied Sir Rod Stewart an extra 15 minutes on stage for his coveted Legends slot next Saturday at Worthy Farm, despite him losing £180,000 to play there. The 80-year-old said: 'It's difficult because they only gave me an hour-and-a-quarter slot. 'So I begged them, 'Can I do another 15 minutes? Because usually I play for two hours.' 'It means that there's a lot of songs that people love that I won't be able to play and I've got three guests coming on.' The Maggie May singer, who has not performed at Glastonbury since 2002, confirmed that his Faces co-star and Rolling Stones guitarist, Ronnie Wood, will be making an appearance. Sir Rod currently has a Las Vegas residency and has completed 217 shows, but because Glastonbury organisers asked him to perform, he is missing some shows at a hefty price. He told the Radio Times 'It was about eight months ago when I was asked to do it. Maybe a little longer, but it didn't fit with my schedule because I've got to bring everybody back from America. Factoring in the price of shipping over the equipment and staging, the father-of-seven said: 'It's going to cost me £300,000 to do it and they only pay you about £130,000. 'So, it's going to cost me.' But Sir Rod insisted 'it doesn't matter' and that he was not scrimping for the sake of his team and confirmed his dancers and band would be flying Premium Economy from Vegas to the UK. He added: 'We've got a little orchestra coming on to play with us and we may have some bagpipes. 'I've got the band all decked out in proper outfits. They all wear white jackets and black ties and the girls wear sequins. 'It's a bit more Las Vegas than it's been before because obviously, I'm doing my residency.' The You Wear It Well singer is set to perform next Sunday at the coveted teatime Legends slot but fears are mounting if he will be well enough to perform after he had to cancel or postpone six of his June concerts in the US because he was suffering from flu.
