Jakob Breum to Celtic transfer bid 'rejected' as asking price revealed for Danish star

Brendan Rodgers is on the hunt for wide men with Kuhn sold and Jota out injured until 2026 but they will have to up the ante
Celtic have reportedly had a £1.5million bid rejected for Go Ahead Eagles star Jakob Breum.

Brendan Rodgers is on the hunt for wide men and is said to be interested in the young Dane.

Nicolas Kuhn has joined Italian side Como and Jota is sidelined until next year which has left Celtic short, with Antwerp's Belgian winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha also on their radar.

However, The Celtic Way report that the Scottish Premiership champions have failed with their opening bid for the 21-year-old.
Breum moved to the Dutch side from Odense in his homeland. And the report states that Celtic's offer 'for right sided attacker Breum fell well below the Dutch club's valuation of £5million'.
The Eredivisie side's club director Jan Willem van Dop spoke earlier this month of interest in Breum and an offer from a 'foreign club', said to be Celtic.
He said: 'The only thing that is going on and as far as we are concerned are the unsuccessful moves. There has been a bid for Jakob Breum from a foreign club
'We are so far apart there. You have to stand your ground. He may have to realise that it could be very good to stay with us at least until the winter break.

'We think that Breum and Antman should be allowed to leave for more than £5million. If that doesn't happen with this club, then maybe another one will come.
'And if not, then we hope that with all the positive feelings they have, they will stay with us and go into Europe. Then we will see during the winter break.'

Mikel Arteta explains why Arsenal were so determined to finally complete Viktor Gyokeres deal

Viktor Gyokeres has sealed his move to Arsenal as the Gunners completed a deal £63.7million to finally land Mikel Arteta a goalscorer and continue a busy summer of business Mikel Arteta has lauded the signing of Viktor Gyokeres after Arsenal confirmed the £63.7million transfer. The Sweden international has signed a long term deal with the Gunners after participating in one of the transfer sagas of the summer. ‌ Gyokeres, 27, went on strike in order to try force Sporting CP into accepting a lower transfer fee that he claimed they had agreed today. This led to the Portuguese club's president Frederico Verandas releasing a stunning statement saying he would not be blackmailed. ‌ Ultimately, Gyokeres' agent Hasan Cetinkaya — a key figure in the disagreement — decided to waive his fee so that Arsenal could come to an agreement with Sporting. ‌ But Gyokeres offers the north London side something they have seemingly lacked for much of Arteta's tenure in charge — a goalscorer. The ex-Coventry and Brighton forward bagged 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting and Arsenal will hope he can replicate that kind of form in the Premier League. "We're absolutely delighted to welcome Viktor Gyökeres to the club," Arteta said. "The consistency he has shown in his performances and availability have been outstanding, and his goal contributions speak for themselves. 'Viktor has so many qualities. He is a quick and powerful presence up front, with incredible goalscoring numbers at club and international levels. He brings a clinical edge with a high conversion rate of chances into goals, with his intelligent movement in the box making him a constant threat. 'We're excited about what Viktor brings to our squad and are looking forward to start working with him. We welcome Viktor and his family to Arsenal." Sporting director Andrea Berta offered a similar number of superlatives for their new signing. The Italian outlined three areas that makes Gyokeres an ideal addition to Arsenal's vision and believes the forward will have an impact on and off the pitch. ‌ "We are so pleased with the excellent deal we have completed to bring Viktor Gyökeres to the club," he said. "Viktor is an exceptional talent and has consistently demonstrated he has the qualities and winning mentality required of a top-level centre-forward. His physicality, intelligence and work ethic make him a perfect fit for our vision. 'We are confident Viktor will have a major impact on the pitch and become an important figure in our dressing room. Welcome, Viktor!'

Martin delivers verdict on Curtis' Rangers display vs Middlesbrough

The Ibrox club were 2-0 down at the break after first-half strikes from Neto Borges and Dael Fry. Danilo got one back for [[Rangers]] just after the hour mark, before Curtis stepped up with a close-range finish to level things up on 79 minutes. It was the winger's second goal in as many games after he scored in his side's 2-0 Champions League qualifying win over Panathinaikos midweek. Read more: Martin was asked about the 18-year-old's contribution vs Middlesbrough post-match: "Yeah, he showed good instinct today," he said. "And he got better on Tuesday as the game went on, and he showed some good stuff today, some good timing, some good bits. So, just a really good learner. "And I thought Nico [Raskin] was brilliant next to him today as well. Best Nico's played since we've been here, so I'm really pleased with Nico's contribution because I think having Max Aarons and Nico on your side of the pitch will definitely help Findlay. "And he just needs to keep listening, keep learning. Good instinct today, good character, good attitude. As long as he keeps doing that, he'll be fine."

Newcastle United plot move for £50m Chelsea striker to replace Alexander Isak

Newcastle United are interested in a deal to sign Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson as a replacement for Alexander Isak, according to reports. Eddie Howe's side have ramped up plans to sign a new forward after Isak told the club he wanted to leave St James' Park in the summer window. Isak has been strongly linked with a move to Premier League champions Liverpool, who are believed to be plotting a massive offer for the Swede. Newcastle are considering a number of players to replace Isak and have now added Jackson to their list of potential options, the Daily Mail report. Jackson, who scored 10 Premier League goals in 30 games last term, has also attracted interest from Manchester United ahead of the new season. The 24-year-old Senegal international has been at Stamford Bridge since June 2023, with the Blues paying a £32m fee to sign him from Villarreal. It's believed that Chelsea want around £50m in order to let Jackson leave the west London club, with the player under contract until 2033. Jackson has played a total of 81 games for Chelsea to date across all competitions, producing 30 goals and 12 assists. It was reported in June that Italian side Juventus had made contact with Jackson's representatives and were considering a bid for the player. Arsenal have also been linked to Chelsea striker Jackson this summer – and the same is true for AC Milan – as well as Aston Villa. Chelsea have brought in two new strikers this summer with Liam Delap arriving from Ipswich and Joao Pedro coming in from Brighton. That has called into question their plans for Jackson, who now faces a lot of competition up front and may well have fallen down the pecking order. It should be noted, though, that Jackson is not the only striker Newcastle are looking at as a potential replacement for wantaway star Isak. More Trending Ollie Watkins is thought to be a possible option for Newcastle, although it remains to be seen if Aston Villa would allow him to join a top-flight rival. Newcastle are also weighing up a move for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa, who scored 19 Premier League goals in 35 games last season. The Magpies have made an enquiry for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko too.
