H-NEW holds anti-drug awareness programme
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) organised an Anti-Drug Awareness Programme at the Keshav Memorial Educational Society in Narayanaguda on Wednesday. During the event, H-NEW DCP YVS Sudheendra enlightened students about the detrimental effects of drug abuse and strategies to resist such influences within educational settings.
The awareness programme was specifically designed to educate students on the dangers posed by narcotic substances and to champion a drug-free lifestyle.
During the session, the DCP elaborated on how drug abuse can ruin students' promising futures and underscored the severe legal ramifications they might encounter. Additionally, the DCP urged students not to succumb to drug addiction and to steer clear of friendships that encourage substance abuse. The college Principal commended the initiative by H-NEW and HCSC, stating that such programmes are vital in empowering students to make informed choices, comprehend the consequences of drug abuse, and cultivate healthy lifestyles.
Both the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and the Anti Narcotics Forum of HCSC reiterated their dedication to conducting regular awareness campaigns in educational institutions. Their aim is to safeguard youth from the menace of drugs and contribute towards making Hyderabad a drug-free city.
C Venkata Ramulu, Sub-Inspector of Police, Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and his team, along with KGSS Srikanth, Joint Secretary, Anti-Narcotic Forum, HCSC, and G Satyanarayana, Project Manager of HCSC, were also present at the programme.

Two women Maoists killed in Abujhmarh in Bastar, 414 cadres killed in 18 months
RAIPUR: Two women Maoists were shot dead during an encounter with security forces in Narayanpur district of Bastar division in Chhattisgarh on Thursday. This is the first encounter that recorded casualty this monsoon. The identity of the Maoists would be known once the forces are back to base. Police officials said that the search is underway and exchange of fire has stopped. Collector flags off anti-drug awareness rally
Madurai District Collector K.J. Praveen Kumar flagged off the anti-drug awareness rally here on Thursday on the occasion of International Drug Awareness Day. The rally, participated by school and college students, emphasised the importance of creating a drug free Tamil Nadu. About 300 participants who took out the rally carrying placards and banners informed public about the ill-effects of consuming drugs and other related substances. On behalf of Madurai City Police, Commissioner J. Loganathan flagged off the awareness of students of Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College. The 'Anti-Drug Club' of the institution along with Prohibition Enforcement Wing of city police went on a rally which involved taking oaths against drug consumption.

Congress questions bail granted to two people arrested on charges of manipulating NEET marks
Alleging that the National Testing Agency (NTA) has become a 'national corruption agency', the Congress on Wednesday (June 26, 2025) questioned the grant of bail to two people who were accused of taking money to manipulate scores in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The NTA conducts the examination, which is used for entrance to undergraduate medical programmes. On June 23, a Mumbai court granted bail to two people, Salim Patel and Sandeep Shah, who were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on June 10. The CBI accused them of deceiving NEET-UG 2025 aspirants and their families by claiming they could manipulate scores, charging ₹90 lakh per candidate for this purpose. 'Once again, questions have been raised on the transparency of NEET and the agency [NTA] which conducts the test. We are not raising these questions. The questions have risen from the CBI's FIR. The CBI registered an FIR in Maharashtra, in which two arrests were made under the Anti-Corruption Act,' Mr. Kumar said. 'The CBI is saying that no NTA official is involved in this case. If so, why action was taken under the Anti-Corruption Act… Is it possible that such a big scam happens in the exam without the connivance of any official?' Mr. Kumar asked.
