Aaron Judge ties A-rod on yankees' all-time home run list at 351 in win over braves
Aaron Judge hit the first home run of his MLB career the day after Alex Rodriguez retired. Now the two are tied on the Yankees all-time home run list. Judge hit his 351st career homer in a 4-2 win over the Braves on Sunday, moving into a tie with A-Rod for sixth place in Yankees history. 'Just an incredible honor, especially you know, growing up watching A-Rod for so many years and watching what he did in pinstripes,' Judge said. 'He's a legend. One of the best ever players.' Judge trails Yankee greats Babe Ruth (659), Mickey Mantle (536), Lou Gehrig (493), Joe DiMaggio (361), and Yogi Berra (358) in career homers for New York. Judge's homer on Sunday was his 36th of the season. He is two behind MLB leader Cal Raleigh of the Mariners, who won the Home Run Derby in Atlanta on Monday. Judge hit a solo shot in the first inning that traveled 409 feet to right field off Grant Holmes, giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead. It was his eighth home run in his last 17 games. The Yankees travel to Toronto to face the AL East-leading Blue Jays in a three-game series starting Monday.

Blue jays beat giants 8-6, complete series sweep and match franchise record of 10 straight home wins
Addison Barger hit a two-run home run, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer added solo shots, and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the San Francisco Giants 8-6 on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep and match a franchise record with their 10th consecutive home win. Toronto also won 10 straight at home July 21–August 3, 1985. Toronto's current streak began with a four-game series sweep of the Yankees from June 30 to July 3, overtaking New York for the AL East lead. The Blue Jays followed that with a three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Angels. The Yankees and Blue Jays open a three-game series in Toronto on Monday. Since a three-game sweep of San Diego in late May, the Blue Jays have won 22 of 26 at home. Guerrero reached base three times and drove in two as Toronto improved to 12-3 in July. The series sweep was their eighth of the season. Toronto's José Berríos (6-4) allowed four runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings and won for the fourth time in six starts. Alonso (Hand) sits for Mets, putting team-record consecutive games streak in jeopardy
Pete Alonso didn't start Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds because of a right hand contusion, putting in jeopardy the New York Mets All-Star first baseman's team record for consecutive games played. Manager Carlos Mendoza said Alonso – whose 353 consecutive games played are the second-most in the majors behind Atlanta first baseman Matt Olson (717 games) – told him he felt the discomfort in his hand following his second at-bat Saturday when Alonso flew out in the third inning of New York's 5-2 loss. 'He got jammed a couple times and it just got worse,' Mendoza said Sunday. X-rays on the hand were negative, and Alonso had treatment before the series finale. Mendoza said he hoped Alonso, whose streak of 205 consecutive starts dating back to May 31, 2024, ended, would be available off the bench. 'When you're dealing with a hand injury, we thought it was best to get ahead of ourselves here because it can linger,' Mendoza said. 'Hopefully he's a player for us.' Alonso hasn't missed a game since June 17, 2023, the final day of a 10-day stint on the injured list because of a left wrist bone bruise and sprain suffered when he was plunked by the Atlanta Braves' Charlie Morton. Mark Vientos started at first base, his first appearance at the position since July 14, 2024. Alonso, who remained on the free agent market last winter until signing a two-year deal worth 54 million with an opt-out following this season on Feb. 12, is hitting .276 with 21 homers and a team-high 77 RBIs. But he is batting just .223 with four homers and 14 RBIs in his last 30 games, during which the Mets have gone 10-20 to fall out of first place in the NL East. Alonso has 247 regular-season homers, five shy of Darryl Strawberry's team record.
