Man dies after collapsing during National Day Parade rehearsal in Singapore
SINGAPORE, June 21 — A 47-year-old man from Changi Airport Group's (CAG) Parade and Ceremony contingent died after collapsing during a National Day Parade (NDP) rehearsal at the Padang in Singapore today.
According to a joint statement by the country's Ministry of Defence (Mindef) and CAG, the incident happened at 11.23am, shortly after the end of a component rehearsal.
'He was immediately evacuated to the on-site medical post and arrived at 11.26am, where he was attended by the duty medical officer. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was administered immediately,' the statement said.
Despite efforts to revive him, the man remained unresponsive and was transferred to a standby Singapore Armed Forces ambulance at 11.42am.
'Resuscitation efforts continued en route to hospital,' Mindef and CAG added.
He arrived at Singapore General Hospital at 11.57am and was pronounced dead at 12.19pm.
The man was part of one of 18 civilian contingents preparing for the NDP on August 9, which will mark Singapore's 60th National Day.
Mindef and CAG said they are in contact with the man's family.
'We extend our deepest condolences to the family,' they said.

Kirara posted on X in Japanese on what she called 'baseless speculations' and asked the public to 'not spread false information.' She also denied having ever accepted money for private sexual services, including her encounter with Ju. The influencer claimed that a woman she met at the time, who she inferred to have a crush on Ju, had taken the photos and sold them to Japanese news outlet Shūkan Bunshu. Pictures surfaced online of Ju and Kirara at a private bar in Tokyo on May 29 with some media outlets claiming that Ju had paid the actress for sexual favours. Ju's label One Hundred then announced his departure from the group and the label to which the singer responded online, claiming that the label's dropping of him was a breach of contract and he also pointedly denied the swirling online allegations that he had paid for sex with Kirara. One Hundred replied to his statement with one of its own calling the singer's claims false. In the statement, the agency stated: 'We initially decided to suspend Ju Haknyeon's activities after recognising that the matter at hand could cause significant harm to the group's activities. After we thoroughly reviewed the situation, we made him fully aware that the incident constituted grounds for contract termination under Article 6, Clause 3 of his exclusive contract, which refers to 'conduct that damages the dignity of an artist to the extent that it interferes with entertainment activities.' We then made the decision accordingly.'

KLIA customs dept foils attempts to smuggle drugs worth RM2.65mil

(Custom pic) PETALING JAYA : Customs officers recently foiled attempts to smuggle a total of 30.14kg of drugs worth RM2.65 million through KLIA. KLIA customs director Zulkifli Muhammad said a man was arrested on April 17 for trying to smuggle out 14.65kg of cannabis buds worth almost RM1.44 million in his checked baggage on a flight to a European country. He said the man was subjected to a baggage inspection after his travel was blocked by the Border Control and Protection Agency. 'During the baggage scan, the man attempted to flee but was apprehended by customs personnel. 'The inspection found cannabis buds packed in vacuum-sealed plastic to avoid detection,' Bernama reported him as saying today. Zulkifli said on May 16, customs found 5.31kg of ecstasy worth almost RM900,000 smuggled in through a consignment at the cargo terminal in the KLIA free trade zone. He said the drugs, believed to have originated from a European country, were packaged and declared as laptop components. He said 10.18kg of methamphetamine, worth nearly RM300,000, was also intercepted on May 24. They were concealed in a consignment packed with clothing. He said investigations into the drug shipments are under way but face obstacles as the smugglers usually use fake company names and addresses. 'We have gone to the (premises) declared in the consignment information, but the companies either do not exist or have other addresses,' he said.
