Nvidia CEO to hold media briefing in Beijing this week
Since 2022, the U.S. government has imposed restrictions on the export of Nvidia's most advanced chips to China, citing concerns over potential military applications.
The U.S. also imposed a ban earlier this year on sales of Nvidia's H20 artificial intelligence chips to the country — which had been Nvidia's most powerful AI chip cleared for Chinese sales.

Huang's latest visit has been closely-watched in both the U.S. and China.
A bipartisan pair of U.S. senators on Friday sent a letter to Huang about his China trip, asking him to abstain from meeting with companies that are working with military or intelligence bodies in the People's Republic of China.
The senators also asked Huang to refrain from meeting with entities named on the U.S.' restricted export list.
China generated $17 billion in revenue for Nvidia in the fiscal year ended Jan. 26, accounting for 13% of the company's total sales, based on its latest annual report.
Huang has consistently highlighted China as a critical market for Nvidia's growth.

Nvidia has faced increased competition from Chinese tech giant Huawei and other makers of graphics processing units — the chips used to train artificial intelligence.
But Chinese companies, including its big tech firms, still crave Nvidia chips due to the company's computing platform known as CUDA.
Nvidia's market value topped $4 trillion for the first time last week, solidifying the chipmaker's position as Wall Street's central player in a race to dominate AI technology.

Trump fortune could get nearly $100M boost as restriction to sell his meme coins are lifted: report
President Trump's push into crypto is proving to be very lucrative. A so-called 'unlock' of Trump meme coins is expected to add nearly $100 million to the president's fortune, according to a report. Starting Thursday, entities tied to the president will be able to sell 90 million of the $Trump tokens – worth nearly $930 million at Wednesday's price of $10.30, according to crypto research site Messari. NurPhoto via Getty Images Trump's share of the coins will add $93 million to his $6.4 billion fortune, according to Bloomberg. His net worth has not previously included the locked coins' value. He also has made about $150 million from trading of the meme coin through mid-June, according to an analysis by crypto-risk modeling firm Gauntlet. The unlock will increase the coin's circulating supply by 45%, after its initial launch in January made 200 million coins available, Bloomberg reported. Advertisement The total amount outstanding will reach 1 billion in less than three years. Of those, 800 million were originally locked and held by Trump-linked entities. A larger supply, however, could sink the meme coin's price. Like all meme coins, the $TRUMP token has no intrinsic value. It's based on an image of Trump and tied largely to his popularity – making it vulnerable to sharp swings. Advertisement Its price soared more than 10% last week after Justin Sun, founder of the Tron blockchain and cryptocurrency, vowed to buy $100 million worth of the coin in a post on X. Sun is already the meme coin's top holder. 3 President Trump speaks during a White House luncheon on Monday. The suit charging Sun with fraud and market manipulation was dropped in February. 3 Donald Trump Jr. speaks during The Bitcoin Conference in Las Vegas in May. The $TRUMP token's website does not state how the coins are split between the LLCs. Following this week's unlock, 510 million tokens will be made available over the next two years. An additional 200 million coins will start to become available in January. Cryptocurrency has emerged as a huge moneymaker for the Trump family, adding $620 million to their wealth since Trump won the election in November. Advertisement A White House spokesperson said that Trump's assets are being held in a trust managed by his children while he serves his second term, and maintains that none of his business ventures present a conflict of interest. Trump's sons, Donald Jr. and Eric Trump, who run the family's Trump Organization, are shareholders in crypto miner American Bitcoin, which will be acquired by Gryphon Digital Mining. The new company could be worth more than $4.5 billion, according to Bloomberg.

You can now stream select Xbox games you own to PC, no Xbox required—but there's a catch
You can now play select Xbox games you own on your PC by streaming them through the Xbox PC app—if you're an Xbox Insider with a Game Pass Ultimate subscription. This is a big deal because it includes some games which are not part of the Xbox Game Pass program, so it's the first time subscribers can stream these games via the Xbox PC app. And since you can also purchase games through the app, you don't even need to own an Xbox to buy and play these games. So in a sense, this is Xbox taking another step down the path towards being a console-agnostic game streaming service à la Nvidia's GeForce Now. Xbox Game Pass is already one of the best cloud gaming services around, and this new feature makes it just a little bit better. Of course, you currently have to sign up for the PC Gaming Preview portion of Microsoft's Xbox Insiders program to test it out. The news comes courtesy of an Xbox Wire blog post published yesterday (July 15) in which Microsoft's Anu Reddy explains that Xbox Insiders who have joined the PC Gaming Preview and also subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate ($20/month) can now stream some Xbox games they own via the PC app in the 28 countries (including Australia, the U.S. and the U.K.) where Xbox Cloud Gaming is available. It's basically an expanded version of the "stream your own game" feature Xbox introduced late last year, and since then the list of supported games has quintupled to over 250. The list of supported games is available to peruse on Xbox's website, and while it doesn't include many Xbox exclusives (no Blinx 2 or Lost Odyssey, for example) it does include Xbox 360 games like Saint's Row 2. And to be clear, you're not actually streaming anything from your Xbox when using this feature. The "stream your own game" branding can be misleading, because when you stream one of these games via the Xbox PC app you're actually streaming it via xCloud directly from Microsoft's servers, so your Xbox isn't necessary. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. This can be confusing because the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X also have a Remote Play feature that lets you stream games you own directly from your console to your PC, TV, smartphone, tablet or Meta Quest headset using your Xbox. None of this is hugely surprising since we've long known (thanks in part to reporting from The Verge ) that Microsoft is pushing to expand its game streaming capabilities as part of something internally branded Project Lapland. The company has been working to beef up its technical capabilities and get developers and publishers to sign off on allowing their games to be streamed remotely, which is presumably why the list of supported games has been steadily growing since last November. ASML: Strong Quarter, Uncertain Guidance
Key Points ASML beat top- and bottom-line expectations, growing sales by 24% and earnings per share by 47% in the quarter. The company continues to see solid demand for its high-end lithography equipment used to make the powerful chips needed for AI data centers. Tariffs and trade policy are clouding ASML's near-term outlook, leaving the company unable to say whether it will grow in 2026. 10 stocks we like better than ASML › Here's our initial take on ASML's (NASDAQ: ASML) fiscal 2025 second-quarter financial report. Key Metrics Metric Q2 2024 Q2 2025 Change vs. Expectations Net sales 6.2 billion euros 7.7 billion euros 24% Beat EPS 4.01 euros 5.90 euros 47% Beat New units sold 89 67 -25% n/a Net bookings 5.6 billion euros 5.5 billion euros -2% n/a ASML Management Is Unsure About 2026 Growth ASML is the world's go-to supply of high-end lithography equipment used to manufacture microchips, with its most expensive systems selling for nearly $400 million each. The company stands to be a major beneficiary of the AI boom, which is fueling demand for more chips and the machines that produce them, but the high price of its systems tends to result in quarter-to-quarter choppiness. ASML posted revenue and earnings up 24% and 47% year over year despite selling fewer systems this quarter. Lithography equipment varies in price based on the sophistication of the device, implying that the company is seeing strong demand for its newer, cutting-edge technology. Net bookings in the quarter came in flat at 5.5 billion euros, of which 2.3 billion euros was for higher-end systems. The company generated a gross margin of 53.7% in the quarter. But the company is worried about storm clouds on the horizon. ASML's semiconductor customers have been dealing with heightened uncertainty due to trade restrictions and tariff policies, creating questions about orders heading into 2026. CEO Christophe Fouquet said, "AI customers' fundamentals remain strong," but ASML is seeing "increasing uncertainty driven by macro-economic and geopolitical developments." Fouquet said that while ASML is still preparing for growth in 2026, "we cannot confirm it at this stage." Immediate Market Reaction Investors were focused on the commentary about 2026, and not the second-quarter results. ASML shares were down 8% in premarket trading ahead of the New York Stock Exchange open. What to Watch Although ASML's cautious guidance about 2026 is weighing on investors post-earnings, the long-term growth story is still intact. The company is a vital piece in the supply of arguably one of the most important components of the global economy, and with AI spending and other digital efforts likely to continue to build for years to come, there should be solid demand for semiconductors and the machines needed to make them. The geopolitical situation is rapidly changing. Just this week, the U.S. reversed a ban on Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) selling its H20 chips in China. In a recorded interview posted on ASML's website accompanying earnings, the company's chief financial officer, Roger Dassen, attributed the second-quarter beat in part to tariffs having a "less negative" impact than anticipated. If that trend continues, ASML's caution about 2026 could prove to be overly conservative. Helpful Resources Full earnings report Investor relations page Should you buy stock in ASML right now?
