Chris Evans Shares Brutally Honest Feelings About 'Avengers: Doomsday'

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors Chris Evans may be content that his work as Captain America is done, but the star of "The Materialists" still has some strong feelings about missing out on the upcoming "Avengers: Doomsday". Speaking to ScreenRant while promoting "The Materialists", Evans said that it was sad not to be included in the new movie. Read More: Ryan Coogler Confirms Denzel Washington Has a Part in 'Black Panther 3' Asked if he had spoken to Robert Downey Jr. and/or the Russo brothers, Evans answered, "Yeah, I talk to them all the time. It's where Pedro [Pascal] is right now. I mean, it's sad to be away. It's sad not to be back with the band, but I'm sure they're doing something incredible, and I'm sure it's going to be that much harder when it comes out and you feel like you weren't invited to the party." Captain America is played by Chris Evans in Avengers: Endgame. His character arc concludes nicely in that film, but rumors are he'll return for Avengers: Secret Wars. Captain America is played by Chris Evans in Avengers: Endgame. His character arc concludes nicely in that film, but rumors are he'll return for Avengers: Secret Wars. Disney It's difficult to blame Evans for feeling like he wasn't "invited to the party." Evans played Steve Rogers/Captain America in the first three "Captain America" films, all four "Avengers" films to date, and made cameos in "Thor: The Dark World" and "Spider-Man: Homecoming". More recently, he reprised the role of Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in last year's "Deadpool & Wolverine". The irony is that as far as the fans are concerned, at least, he would almost certainly be welcomed back to the role if he chose. Evans hardly had time to put down the shield in "Avengers: Endgame" before rumors started flying that he was on his way back to reprise the role, perhaps as a variant from a different corner of the multiverse. So who knows? While Evans may not be invited to the party for "Avengers: Doomsday", there's always the following year's "Avengers: Secret Wars". "Avengers: Doomsday" is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. It is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Robert Downey Jr. More Comics: James Gunn Wants Peacemaker to Fight Batman Captain America: Brave New World Finally Has a Disney+ Free Streaming Date

Disney+ Inks New Deal to Bundle With Crave, TSN in Canada

Disney has expanded its content supply deal with Bell Media in Canada to offer a new streaming bundle that includes Disney+, Crave and TSN, starting later this year. The new Canadian bundle follows a landmark deal between cable giant Charter Communications and Disney to offer Spectrum Select TV subscribers access to Disney+ at no additional cost. More from The Hollywood Reporter New Lena Dunham, Sarah Snook Shows Touted as Universal U.K. TV Labels Execs Talk Sector Cuts Nickelodeon Acquires Animated 'Mr. Crocodile' Series, Based on French Children's Book Locarno Unveils Open Doors Program Projects, Producers for First Edition of Africa Focus Pricing and launch timing on the new Canadian bundles for Bell Media subscribers has yet to be revealed, but the offerings will include original series and content from HBO and Max, the Crave streaming platform in Canada, Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and TSN, the Canadian sports channel. The Canadian deal involving Disney and Bell Media continues an industry trend where streaming services are increasingly combined and marketed to subscribers for savings amid continuing cable cord cutting and consumers and ad dollars shifting online. And Bell Media is looking to offset declining Canadian viewership for traditional linear TV channels with more inroads into the streaming space. 'We're excited to expand our longstanding relationship with Bell Media, through these new offerings, making Disney+ even more accessible across Canada,' Shawn Praskey, vp, content sales & distribution in Canada said in a statement. Bell earlier this year launched new Crave subscription package that bundles in TSN sports content, with pricing starting at CAN$21.99 (US$16.10) a month. And Disney+ is available in Canada starting at CAN $8.99 (US$6.60) a month. The Disney+, Crave, TSN bundle will give subscribers access to original series like HBO's The Last of Us, The White Lotus, Max's And Just Like That and Hacks, Disney+'s Only Murders in the Building and Lucasfilm's Andor. Upcoming series include HBO's A Night of the Seven Kingdoms, the Game of Thrones spinoff, and season 3 of Euphoria. And TSN, which competes north of the border with rival Sportsnet from Rogers, will toss into the bundle NFL, NBA, FIFA World Cup games, F1 races and regional NHL games, among other content.
