Virat Kohli's sister Bhawna can't keep calm after RCB bulldozed through PBKS to romp into fourth IPL final

Hindustan Times6 days ago

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans erupted in celebration on Thursday evening as their team secured a dominant eight-wicket victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 1 at Mullanpur, booking a place in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final. This will be RCB's fourth appearance in an IPL final and the first since 2016. They ended up second-best on all three occasions.
Among those celebrating the big win was Virat Kohli's sister, Bhawna Kohli Dhingra, who took to Instagram to share her excitement.
Shortly after RCB's emphatic win, Bhawna posted an Instagram Story with a 'Finals' stickeraccompanied by an amulet emoji believed to protect against the evil eye. The post signified her pride and joy over the team's stellar performance and her wish to end the 18-year-long wait for an IPL title.
RCB, who opted to bowl first, dismantled the PBKS top order in the powerplay, reducing them to 48/4. Key contributions came from Josh Hazlewood (3/21), Suyash Sharma (3/17), and Yash Dayal (2/26), as PBKS were restricted to a modest 101 in 14.1 overs.
Despite early setbacks in the chase with the dismissals of Virat Kohli (12) and Mayank Agarwal (19), Phil Salt played a blistering knock of 56* off just 27 balls. Captain Rajat Patidar (15*) supported him to take the team home in just 10 overs with eight wickets in hand.
Suyash Sharma was named 'Player of the Match' for his match-winning spell.
After the match, RCB captain Rajat Patidar hailed Suyash Sharma's performance. 'I think we were clear in our plans, how we have to bowl. I think the fast bowlers used the surface really well. The way Suyash chipped in, the way he bowled his lines and lengths, that was really good. As a captain, I am clear about his bowling. He has to target the stumps, that's his strength. His wrong 'un is difficult to read for the batters. I always want to give him clear ideas, I don't want to confuse him. I am okay if he concedes a few runs (in the process.) We have had a lot of practice sessions throughout the tournament, so one day of not practising won't harm you.'

" RCB Ye, RCB Wo...": Virat Kohli Shuts Down Trolls In Unfiltered Avatar After Clinching IPL Title

There were only a handful of experts who really backed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to go all the way in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Some even questioned the franchise's recruitments at the auction, suggesting it's going to be another season of failure for the franchise. However, with Rajat Patidar at the helm and Virat Kohli as the guiding force, the franchise brought end to an 18-year-long wait and lifted the IPL trophy by defeating Punjab Kings in the final on Tuesday. In a post-match chat with presenter Jatin Sapru, Kohli went into his unfiltered avatar as he hit back at all those who doubted RCB, even mocked those who trolled the franchise for years. "God is great. I'm in a space where the anchor has fallen and I'm just loose with excitement. I just want to sleep properly! I took a lot of stress, listened to a lot of things. RCB yeh, RCB vo. Bohot logon ne bohot troll kiya, bohot mazak banaaya (Lots of people trolled us, made fun of us)," Kohli told Jatin Sapru. Logon ne bahut troll kiya, RCB YE, RCB WO... But that made us STRONGER, Ab main SHANTI SE SONA chahta hun.. #ViratKohli𓃵 #RCBvsPBKS #IPLFinals — ShingChana (@BaanwraDil) June 4, 2025 Despite years of agony, RCB remained one of the most followed franchise, with fans turning up in huge numbers to support the team. Even in Ahmedabad, there were thousands of fans who made the journey from different parts of the country to support RCB. Kohli couldn't thank the loyal fans enough. "But that made us stronger, closer as a team and as a franchise. The relationship between fans and us is strong. I will just sleep peacefully now," Kohli said, as RCB lifted their maiden IPL trophy following a tense six-run win over Punjab Kings. Having taken stress for years, Kohli said that he can now sleep like a baby. "You know, as a sportsman, when you're crying for something, this is a very high-intensity, high-quality tournament, which is of great value in world cricket today. And I'm someone that wants to win the big tournaments, the big moments, and this one was missing. And tonight, I'm going to sleep like a baby," he further said.

"RCB Should Be Sued": India World Cup Winner Slams Bengaluru Stampede Mess, Namedrops Virat Kohli

Former Indian cricketer Madan Lal has strongly criticized the poor planning and crowd management during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) IPL victory celebrations at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where a stampede claimed the lives of at least 11 fans and injured several others. After RCB's long-awaited first IPL title win on June 3 in Ahmedabad, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) had organised a felicitation ceremony in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Thousands of fans gathered outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, hoping to catch a glimpse of their heroes. However, as the crowd swelled, the situation became unmanageable. Police resorted to a lathi-charge to control the crowd, leading to panic and chaos. Seven people were killed in the resulting stampede, while several others were rushed to Bowring Hospital and Vydehi Superspeciality Hospital for treatment. "People will not forget this —or Virat Kohli. While people were dying outside, there was a celebration inside. It's truly shocking and disheartening. The families of the dead should consider suing RCB and the state government for ₹100 crore for this tragic is also shirking responsibility," former Indian cricketer Madan Lal told IANS. Earlier in the day, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah addressed the media after the incident and announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family of the dead. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar defended the arrangements, stating, 'We had arranged for 5,000 police personnel. We couldn't use force on such a young, vibrant crowd.' The authorities have confirmed that the bodies of two persons are at Bowring Hospital and that of four others at Vaidehi Hospital. Six people are being treated in the ICU of the Vaidehi Hospital and three are admitted to the ICU. The government of Karnataka had earlier cancelled the victory parade from Vidhana Soudha to Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium, citing security reasons.

'It's shameful Bengaluru couldn't manage 1km victory parade': RCB gave city pride but poor planning brought it shame

BENGALURU: A perfect storm of giddy, overenthusiastic fans, poor planning by officials, bad stadium management, stretched police force, shortage of time, clueless event management and lack of communication between stakeholders resulted in the tragic and totally avoidable, deaths of 11 RCB fans and left 75 injured. At the crack of dawn, RCB lit up social media with the big news: The champions were flying home with the coveted IPL trophy and would celebrate with a grand victory parade in Bengaluru. It was an announcement that caught the cops unawares as they had no communication about it. But it sent the already-electrified fanbase into overdrive. Then came the colossal collective failure: Cops failed to act swiftly and draw up crowd-control plans. Politicians turned the celebration into a photo-op frenzy, brushing aside warnings in their race to bask in reflected glory. Many brought their families to Vidhana Soudha to pose with the cricketers. "RCB gave the city a reason to celebrate. But police and netas turned that joy into grief with their sheer incompetence. It's shameful that Bengaluru couldn't manage a 1km victory parade," said the grieving brother of one of the victims. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Even senior bureaucrats admitted that the lives could have been saved with proper planning and coordination. "The RCB management did not consult us before announcing a victory parade. We would not have allowed it given the crazy celebrations that unfolded on the streets on Tuesday night. But the political bosses were in no mood to listen, they wanted us to go ahead with bandobust," a senior police officer said. Those who fell were trampled Till mid-afternoon, there was no clarity whether there was a parade and where the events would be held. Senior cops were informed only around 2pm to be at the stadium and the assembly. By which time, the crowds had already gathered. At the cricket stadium, the scenes from early afternoon held bad portents. Fans had started flocking to the gates by noon and it was apparent to any bystander that things would get of control soon. TOI reporters, who could not even get in, found that most gates stayed shut and false rumours of gate numbers led to a huge rush. Naturally, barricades collapsed, metal grills broke down and those who fell — mostly young people and women — were unable to get up and got crushed and trampled.
