ASEAN Ministerial Meetings Endorse Vision 2045 Report Ahead Of 46th Summit -- Wisma Putra

KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 (Bernama) -- Ministerial meetings in preparation for the 46th ASEAN Summit have endorsed the Final Report of the High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and agreed to submit the Vision document for adoption by ASEAN Leaders, said the Foreign Ministry.
In a statement today, Wisma Putra said the 36th ASEAN Coordinating Council (ACC) Meeting, chaired by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, also noted five substantive reports and endorsed six reports for submission to the leaders.
It said these reports underscore the wide-ranging work undertaken across ASEAN's three community pillars.
'The Meeting provided an important platform to review ASEAN's progress under ASEAN 2025 vision and align priorities towards 'ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future'.
'The Meeting also discuss status of reports for submission to the Summit and Timor-Leste's progress toward full ASEAN membership,' Wisma Putra said in a post on X.
The ministry said the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN 2045, to be signed by ASEAN Leaders on May 26, 2025, will mark a strategic milestone that will guide the region's next phase of community-building and regional leadership.
Meanwhile, Mohamad expressed appreciation to all Member States, the co-chairs of the High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Community Vision (HLTF-ACV), and the ASEAN Secretariat for their contributions.

BANGKOK: (Bernama) Thailand has unveiled plans for a landmark "Thailand Entertainment Complex' project, aimed at boosting economic growth, attracting international tourists and strengthening its global competitiveness. Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat said the project was part of efforts to position Thailand as a premier destination for world-class attractions. "The complex is envisioned as a new economic engine, fostering tourism revenue and creating innovative industries to ensure sustainable economic growth,' he said in a statement on Thursday (June 5). The entertainment complex is anticipated to generate 12 to 40 billion baht in annual tax revenue while creating thousands of jobs, he said. Julapun said the government has submitted a draft bill to the House of Representatives to establish a regulatory framework for the complex. Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, Suksit Srichomkwan, said the complex will include a casino, which will operate under strict legal conditions and anti-money laundering measures. It will also feature concert halls, large convention and exhibition centres, amusement parks, museums, Michelin-starred restaurants, and green spaces for outdoor activities. Relations between the two rivals have soured in recent weeks, with both sides accusing the other of violating a trade truce that brought down tariffs from massive highs. With the fresh conflict threatening the fragile détente, market analysts were hopeful the conversation would pave the way to a trade off-ramp. Stocks rose on news of the call, with the S&P 500 extending gains into a fourth straight day. The phone call between the leaders marks their first known formal contact since Trump took office. The last conversation between Trump and Xi took place in January before the US president's inauguration. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said the call was initiated at Trump's request. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Rare earths have emerged in recent days as a key flashpoint. The US has accused China of reneging on a promise to relax export controls on such metals needed for cutting-edge electronics. Beijing has been frustrated by fresh US restrictions on the sale of chip design software and plans to start revoking visas for Chinese students.
