A Greater Manchester Police (GMP) statement read: 'After receiving a report on Monday 4 August 2025 of a rape, we have arrested a 24-year-old man.
'It's alleged that the incident occurred on Wednesday 23 July 2025 at a premises in Manchester. The man has since been bailed pending further enquiries. The victim is being supported by officers.'
The PCB confirmed the provisional suspension on Thursday, stating the governing body had been notified of a GMP investigation involving Ali.
The PCB said the alleged incident is reported to have occurred during Pakistan A's five-match tour of England, which took place between July 22 and August 5.
A PCB statement read: 'In line with its duty of care and responsibility to ensure the welfare and legal rights of all its players, the PCB has ensured that Haider Ali has received appropriate legal support to protect his rights throughout this process.
'The PCB fully respects the legal procedures and processes of the United Kingdom and acknowledges the importance of allowing the investigation to run its due course.'
The governing body of cricket in Pakistan added Ali's suspension is 'effective immediately' and pending the outcome of the investigation, and said it reserves the right 'to take appropriate action under its Code of Conduct' once the legal process has concluded and 'all facts have been duly established'.
Ali made his international debut for Pakistan in 2020 and has since played 35 T20Is and two ODIs. He was a senior player on tour for Pakistan A — the nation's second-tier international cricket team — this summer, playing in all five matches on the tour.

🎶 Pop predicts Premier League 25/26: Picture Parlour (Everton) 🔮

The new Premier League season is almost upon us and to celebrate, we have enlisted the help of some football-loving pop stars to preview and predict the coming campaign. Click here to read all of the interviews! Today we've got Katherine Parlour and Ella Risi from the band Picture Parlour, who are Everton fans! Hi Picture Parlour. What are you hoping to see from Everton in the 2025/26 Premier League season? To get into the top 8, especially with the new signing of Jack Greaslish, and the rest of the new arrivals. I also think the women could potentially win the league. Their new home at Goodison will bring them that extra bit of luck. What is your hottest take or boldest prediction for Everton's 2025/26 Premier League season? To qualify for Europe and hopefully win a trophy. Maybe the FA Cup like Crystal Palace did last season. If you were going to bet your life savings on something definitely happening to Everton in the 2025/26 season, what would it be? Stay in the Premier League, or I've only got £3.50 and the pies are £6.20. The whole club is going to improve with the new ground and new players. Other than your own, which team or player are you most excited to watch in the 2025/26 season? Definitely not the Reds! To see what Chelsea's Cole Palmer is going to achieve and to see how well our women's team does in their new ground at Goodison. What do you predict will be the first managerial change of the 2025/26 season? Tough one. Maybe the Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, or one of the other promoted clubs. Who will turn out to be Everton's signing of the summer? Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Who will finish as the Premier League's Player of the Season? Cole Palmer for Chelsea. Who will win the Golden Boot? Erling Haaland for Man City. Which club will win the Premier League title? Everton…. or Man City. Finally, which three clubs will be relegated? Leeds, Burnley, Sunderland. Derby County vs Coventry City - team news, lineups, predictions

Derby County and Coventry City face each other this Saturday at the Pride Park Stadium for matchweek two of the EFL Championship. The match will be broadcast live at 12:30 on Sky Sports +. Derby County have 0 points to their name this season and occupy 23rd position in the table. In their last game, John Eustace's team drew 1-1 with West Bromwich (Carabao Cup 2025/26). Coventry City have won 1 point to date and are placed in 14th position. In their last match, Frank Lampard's team prevailed 1-0 against Luton Town (Carabao Cup 2025/26). The last meeting between the two teams ended with Derby County winning 2-0. The Fan Zone : Derby have been poor in their opening two games of the season and will head into the season's home opener wanting to right the ship. The Rams opened the season with a 3-1 loss away at Stoke, with two Stoke goals coming in the dying minutes. Derby picked up a result in the League Cup away at West Brom but were fortunate with a sublime free kick from Joe Ward and luck went their way in the penalty shoot-out. The Rams home form over the past several season's has been fantastic and has been a catalyst on which to build. However, as manager John Eustace has said, this is no where near a full-strength team. Injuries will continue to be a theme in the opening weeks and months of the season and fans will not see, what would be considered, a full-strength XI until at least October. Until then, Derby will need to be tough to beat and with a Coventry City side that seem to have promotion aspirations, it will be a tough ask. Derby need to dig in and get points on the board as soon as possible. Hopefully, the great home form can provide the spring board need to provide just that. Carlton Morris will be the main man up front. The veteran scored on his debut and will the be the main goal getter again. It'll be interested to see John Eustace's team. The team against WBA was completely different than it was against Stoke and he'll have some tough decisions to make on players returning to fitness. The hope is Derby can remain defensively solid and pick up a point to get their season up and running! Prediction: 1-1 Unavailable Derby County Curtis Nelson - Injury Sondre Langas - Knee Surgery Patrick Agyemang - Injury Owen Beck - Injury Rhian Brewster - Injury Kane Wilson - Knee Surgery Corey Blackett-Taylor - Injury Coventry City Last starting XIs Derby County ( vs West Bromwich 2025-08-12): Josh Vickers, Jake Rooney, Dion Sanderson, Craig Forsyth, Joe Ward, Kenzo Goudmijn, David Ozoh, Callum Elder, Bobby Clark, Andreas Weimann, Dajaune Brown Coventry City ( vs Luton Town 2025-08-12): Ben Wilson, Kaine Kesler-Hayden, Jake Bidwell, Bobby Thomas, Miguel Brau, Raphael Rodrigues, Victor Torp, Jamie Allen, Kai Andrews, Haji Wright, Ellis Simms

Keith Andrews: Yoane Wissa unavailable for Brentford's Premier League opener due to disrupted summer

Brentford head coach Keith Andrews has said he has decided Yoane Wissa will be unavailable for Brentford's Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest due to the forward's uncertain future. The Athletic reported in July that Brentford rejected a £25million bid from Newcastle for Wissa, while Forest also had an approach knocked back. The 28-year-old forward subsequently withdrew from Brentford's training camp in Portugal, and he has not featured in any of the club's pre-season fixtures. Advertisement 'I have made a decision he is not (available),' Andrews said at a news conference on Thursday. 'It has been a very disrupted pre-season and the interest in Yoane is very clear. 'As a head coach, I want Yoane to be in the building and be a part of the first team and the squad. I see that. But I am very understanding of his situation. 'I have a very good relationship with him, and that will persist. But we have to focus on the players who are ready. But we have to focus on the players who are ready, and I don't think Yoane's in that space. He won't be involved.' Andrews said he 'would like Wissa to be part of the first team squad' but it is 'very hard to know' what will happen in relation to the forward's future. Wissa scored 20 goals last season — 19 in the Premier League — and was also the subject of interest from Forest in January, with Brentford rejecting a £22m bid. The west London club's valuation of the Democratic Republic of the Congo international is over £50m. Last season marked his strongest goalscoring return for Brentford since signing from French side Lorient in 2021. Wissa's contract expires in June 2026, but his existing terms include an option for a further 12 months. Brentford's opening Premier League match away at Forest on Sunday will mark Andrews' first competitive match as head coach, after succeeding Thomas Frank in a summer of widespread change at the club. Their other 20-goal forward, Bryan Mbeumo, departed in a £71m deal to Manchester United, while captain Christian Norgaard left for Arsenal. Spot the pattern.
