Walmart (WMT) Recalls 850,000 Bottles After Reports of Permanent Vision Loss
The product's black screwcap lid can forcefully eject when opened, creating what the agency called a serious impact and laceration hazard. Another consumer reported a separate injury linked to the defect. The bottlesmarked with model number 83-662were manufactured in China and sold exclusively at Walmart stores and online for about $15.
Consumers are being urged to immediately stop using the bottles and return them to Walmart for a full refund. The company has not yet responded publicly to the incident.

Justice Department ethics chief says he was fired
The Justice Department has fired at least a dozen employees in recent weeks who at one time worked with former special counsel Jack Smith, ranging from a senior ethics official to low-level support staff, sources familiar with matter tell CNN. The firings indicate that the Trump administration is still searching high and low for any person who had a hand in the special counsel's work, which resulted in two federal indictments against Donald Trump. Both cases were dismissed once he was reelected. Trump has long said that Smith's investigations amounted to a political 'witch hunt,' and vowed to go after anyone who led or helped in that effort. Several career prosecutors on the cases have already been fired. Joseph Tirrell, who until last week was responsible for advising Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche directly on ethics matters, posted a short letter advising him of his dismissal that did not provide a rationale for the termination. Tirrell had been director of the departmental ethics office since July 2023, according to DOJ. 'Until Friday evening, I was the senior ethics attorney at the Department of Justice responsible for advising the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General directly on federal employee ethics,' Tirrell wrote on LinkedIn. 'I was also responsible for the day-to-day operations of the ethics program across the Department.' He added: 'My public service is not over, and my career as a Federal civil servant is not finished. I took the oath at 18 as a Midshipman to 'support and defend the Constitution of the United States'… That oath did not come with the caveat that I need only support the Constitution when it is easy or convenient.' The Justice Department and Tirrell have not responded to CNN's requests for comment.

As If The C8 ZR1X's 1,250 Horsepower Isn't Enough, Chief Corvette Engineer Hints At An Even Wilder Model
We've hardly had a chance to wrap our heads around the absurdity of the 1,250-horsepower, 233 mph-capable Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X after it was unveiled last month, and Corvette's chief engineer Tony Roma is already hinting at the possibility of an even wilder C8. The Corvette ZR1X and its hybrid V8 powertrain may be the quickest, fastest, and most powerful performance car that Chevrolet has ever produced, but the latest hints add the wonderful qualifier of ...for now. In an interview with Top Gear, Roma said, "the ZR1X is not the end of the story, it's just the latest chapter." He goes on to say that the C8 Corvette's mid-engine platform is proving to be very capable, and that the engineering team is on board with pushing the Corvette's limits even further. The ZR1X uses a twin-turbocharged version of the 5.5-liter LT7 V8 found in the already very powerful Corvette Z06 to drive the rear wheels, and a front axle–mounted electric motor sending power to the front wheels. Its electric motor is slightly more powerful than the front axle motor in the Corvette E-Ray, the other high-performance version of the C8. Read more: These Are The Most Annoying Things About Your Cars Ford and its bonkers Mustang GTD usurped the title of fastest American car around the Nürburgring from the 2017 Dodge Viper ACR last year, with a blistering 6:52.072 lap time, and Chevrolet is itching for its chance at that title. Roma said, "Having the crazy lap times and ridiculous acceleration is part of what makes these cars what they are, so I think we are going to continue to make the car faster for those bragging rights, because our customers appreciate that. It's the same with any performance car manufacturer – we push each other with Nürburgring lap times for that reason. We've done some testing, and all I can say is... stay tuned. We want to be the fastest American car - that's an accolade we'd love to have." Whenever new mention is made about a more powerful Corvette, the internet sets ablaze with speculation that it might be the rumored Zora. Zora Arkus-Duntov was known as "The Father Of The Corvette" because he convinced Chevy that a proper performance car and halo car was a necessity for the brand in the sixties, and he championed a mid-engine design. The world has waited for an "ultimate Corvette" named after Zora for many years now, but such a model has yet to exist. Before the ZR1X's name was announced but it was known that a new and more hardcore Corvette was in the works, it was assumed to be the Zora, but those hopes faded once the ZR1X's name was made official. It is possible, though, that this latest rumor could finally be the fabled Corvette Zora, so we certainly will stay tuned and keep our fingers crossed. Want more like this? Farmer killed in water buffalo attack, Oklahoma police say
JONES, Okla. (AP) — A farmer in a rural suburb outside of Oklahoma City was fatally attacked by a pair of water buffaloes he purchased at a livestock auction a day earlier, police said. Bradley McMichael, a farmer in the small town of Jones suffered deep lacerations in the attack Friday night, Jones Police Chief Bryan Farrington said in a statement. The animals were so aggressive that first responders couldn't get to the victim at first, he said. One water buffalo was euthanized immediately and the other was put down after it became increasingly agitated and threatening, Farrington said. Police say they believe McMichael had purchased the two animals a day earlier and became trapped inside in an enclosure while he was tending to them. McMichael's former wife, Amy Smith, said caring for livestock was his passion. 'The cattle farming, that's his thing,' Smith told television station KFOR. "He's been here his whole life, and he's done that his whole life. 'So he's an experienced cattle handler and a farmer.' Although water buffalo are not commonly raised in the U.S., they are known for their milk production and lean cuts of beef, according to the Arkansas Farm Bureau.
