SIO condemns Gaddar Film Award for ‘propaganda' movie
According to SIO, under the guise of cinema, this project, produced and promoted by BJP leaders, not merely distorts but creates ahistorical 'facts' to vilify the Muslim community of Hyderabad. 'It is a direct attack on the - past and present - communal harmony and coexistence represented by Hyderabad. It presents an ahistorical and inflammatory portrayal, vilifying an entire community while overlooking historically documented large-scale episodes of violence,' said Mohammed Faraz Ahmed, State President SIO Telangana.
He further said, 'This decision by the Congress-led government under the CM not only endorses but legitimises these dangerous propaganda narratives of fascist forces, thereby showcasing an open betrayal to the existence of heterogeneity in the state. Moreover, the use of 'Gaddar' in favour of a movie crafted to inflame communal sentiments with deeply anti-Muslim narrative is an insult to the memory of the revolutionary Gaddar, who stood for justice, equality and resistance to oppression.'
SIO Telangana urges the state government and key stakeholders to immediately revoke this recognition and disassociate from such divisive narratives. We call upon all justice-driven organisations and individuals to act against this growing normalisation of hate.
'We also appeal to the citizens, especially the youth, to turn to verified, scholarly established historical narratives rather than accepting fabrications shaped through propaganda peddled by the Sangh,' he added.

Omar Abdullah (File photo) SRINAGAR: Chief minister Omar Abdullah decried Friday the practice of tying terror attacks to J&K's political fate and asserted that Pakistan should not be allowed to influence it through terrorism, a day after Supreme Court observed that 'incidents like Pahalgam' must be considered when deciding on statehood. 'Will the killers of Pahalgam and their masters in the neighbouring country decide whether we will be a state?' Omar said in his Independence Day speech, his first since taking office last Oct and the first by a CM since Article 370's abrogation and J&K's conversion into a Union territory Aug 2019. Speaking at Srinagar's Bakshi Stadium, Omar termed SC's reference to Pahalgam 'unfortunate' and asked: 'What kind of justice is it? 'Me and my colleagues will use these eight weeks to go to each constituency,' Omar said. In his speech steeped in lament, the CM cited reports in various quarters about an 'announcement this Independence Day from Delhi' -- an allusion to restoration of statehood. 'I had hoped that in some corner of today's (PM Narendra Modi's) speech, there would be an announcement for J&K. We were told the papers are ready and it's only a matter of time. But nothing happened.' Expressing his anguish further, Omar said he wished no one became the CM of a Union Territory with an assembly -- like J&K --comparing the National Conference (NC) govt he leads to 'a horse asked to run with two front legs tied'. 'It has nothing except pain and anxieties. I have been chief minister of the state and now of the UT. The system of dual governance is not for success but for instilling defeat.' Hyderabad: Former minister T accused the Congress govt of burdening the public by increasing taxes, contrasting it with the previous BRS administration which, he claimed, had reduced the tax load. He pointed out that the Transport Department alone had imposed an additional 2,000 crore burden on citizens by hiking service tax, vehicle service tax, road tax, and motor vehicle tax. "The recent hike in life tax on vehicles by the Congress govt is nothing short of a ruthless blow to poor and middle-class families in . Without any justification, the govt issued GOs 53 and 54, increasing life tax on new vehicles and placing further financial strain on the poor and middle class," said Harish. The BRS leader noted that, in today's economy, even a two-wheeler costs over 1 lakh. Farmers, small traders, and daily wage workers depend on such vehicles for their livelihood. Raising the life tax from 12% to 15% on two-wheelers priced above 1 lakh amounts to extortion, he alleged. He further criticised the govt's plan to increase market values for property registration and its proposal to open more liquor shops in every mandal.
