My 5-year-old bargain hair straighteners leaves my hair shiny and are now under £30
I bought them about five years ago in the Boots Boxing Day sale and they're still going strong after all this time, keeping my hair silky smooth on days when I fancy straightening it, and the control in my hair usually lasts for as long as I need it to before washing it again.
I also love that with these straighteners they don't take a huge amount of time to kick in, like other similar products such as the Babyliss Straighteners - Rose Blush or the Toni & Guy XXL Advanced Ionic Tourmaline Wide Plate Hair Straightener. For money-saving tips, sign up to our Money newsletter here .
Before these, I'd used some classic Babyliss hair straighteners but had always found that they didn't really keep my hair straight for long enough, or really have an effect unless I smoothed over each section of hair a number of times, whereas the Remington straighteners have an instant effect.
The Advanced Ceramic coated plates on these super smart straighteners are also infused with Moroccan Argan Oil, a natural ingredient renowned for its shine enhancing properties, as well as Vitamin E, conditioners and moisturisers.
When heated, these wonder Micro Conditioners evenly emit through the plates and on to your hair, leaving it intensely glossy and according to Boots, in 88% better condition, softer and straighter.
Before trying them myself I was a bit sceptical about the argan oil element, and wondered whether it would make any difference at all, but I can confirm that the difference is super noticeable and leaves so much more shine, as well as leaving hair feel more well cared for.
With its nine different temperate settings you can tailor the heat to suit your hair type.
For hair that is more sensitised or damaged, you can use lower temperatures, or for thicker hair that needs a boost, you can dial the temperature up for smooth results that last from morning to night.
The floating plates also ensure even pressure on the hair for professional results and its fast 15 second heat up time is great for getting ready in a hurry.
Remington Session Stylist Chris Appleton says: 'Ultra glossy hair is all over the catwalks at the moment, so to achieve hair that positively shimmers and shines definitely recommend the Shine Therapy Straightener.
'With its whole host of sheen enducing ingredients that Remington has infused in the plates, customers agree that it makes hair 94% smoother and sleeker.'
If you want to give your hair an added layer of softness, I would also recommend using a Leave-In-Conditioner - I usually go for the Sheamoisture Hydrate & Repair Multi-Action Leave-In-Conditioner Manuka Honey & Yoghurt which you can currently get for £8.24, reduced from £10.99 at Boots.
You can get the straighteners which are currently on sale at Boots here.

A new workplace trend, 'quiet cracking', is starting to emerge Unlike 'quiet quitting', it's often unintentional and linked to stress or burnout Experts say it's a sign your body and mind are struggling to cope sustainably Spotting early warning signs can help prevent deeper disengagement Speaking up and acknowledging the issue is the first step toward change You've likely heard of quiet quitting, but now a new workplace trend is emerging: quiet cracking. While quiet quitting is a deliberate choice to draw boundaries and stop overextending at work, quiet cracking is different. It happens when stress, burnout, or dissatisfaction begin to wear you down, leading to an unintentional disconnect from your job. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Guy Thornton, Founder of explains: 'Quiet cracking isn't laziness or a flaw in your work ethic. It's often a sign that your mind and body are trying to cope with something unsustainable. 'It's important to talk to people you trust in the workplace and use mental health resources if you start to experience something like this. Even just acknowledging that something is off is an important way to start taking steps in the right direction.' Below, Guy highlights the subtle warning signs of quiet cracking, and what you can do to address them. (Photo: Pexels) | Pexels You're busy, but not getting much done 'You've got back-to-back meetings, six tabs open, and your calendar looks full. But when someone asks what you've achieved today, you're not sure what to say. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'This relates to another workplace trend known as fauxductivity, which is when you appear productive while feeling unmotivated and disconnected. 'It's often an early sign of quiet cracking that can happen when you're overwhelmed or unsure what your priorities are any more.' To combat this: 'Make a list of three to four meaningful tasks to complete each day when you feel most productive. Check in with yourself each afternoon to reflect on how well you've done. These small wins can help rebuild momentum and clarity.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad You spend a lot of time 'researching' but never actually start 'Research has its place, but if it's become your go-to method for delaying the real work, it might be a sign of stress or fear of failure.' To combat this: 'Break up big projects into smaller, more manageable steps. Starting small, writing one bullet point or working on one slide in a presentation can help you push past the block and feel more in control.' Taking time to respond to messages, or ignoring them completely 'If you're ignoring Teams or Slack messages, putting off replying to emails, or dreading every notification, it's worth paying attention to. This doesn't necessarily mean you're lazy or disengaged. Your brain might simply be overloaded. To combat this: 'Give yourself a short reset. Block off 30 minutes in the morning or afternoon to clear your inbox or respond to urgent messages, then take a 10-minute break. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'Avoiding everything altogether isn't going to help and often makes the anxiety worse.' Always handing work in just before the deadline 'Everyone works differently, and some people genuinely thrive under pressure. But if last-minute scrambles have become your norm, it might be a sign you've mentally checked out.' To combat this: 'Ask yourself, are you struggling with motivation, or is the workload too much? Quiet cracking often begins when expectations feel unclear or unmanageable. Reaching out to your manager for clarity or support is a sign of strength, not weakness.' You've stopped working collaboratively and prefer to work alone 'If you're avoiding meetings, skipping team chats or sticking to solo tasks, you might think it's helping you focus. But it could mean you're disconnected from your team. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'Disengagement can be subtle, and you might not even realise it until someone points it out.' To combat this: 'Reconnect with your team in small ways. Reply to a colleague's message with warmth, or ask for feedback on something you're working on. A little interaction can go a long way in helping you feel part of the team again.'

Boots £35 anti-ageing serum sold more than 4 million times slashed to £10 today only
Users have noticed an 'amazing difference' in their wrinkles, and can now save £24.95 on the 'supercharged' serum that has been 'clinically proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by up to five years' An anti-ageing serum that's sold millions of times since its launch in 2018 has been slashed to £10 for one day only. The No7 Laboratories Line Correcting Booster serum is usually £34.95, but has been reduced as part of Boots' weekly £10 Tuesday deal. The potent formula is said to be 'clinically proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by up to five years', with the new price saving shoppers £24.95 on the RRP. The sought-after serum is 'supercharged' with Matrixyl 3000+ which is a peptide blend that supports the skin's 'natural springs' to deliver elasticity and bounce. It contains seven times the amount of the powerful ingredient than the brand's previous clinically proven serums. As such, it can reportedly target 'even the deepest, most stubborn lines and wrinkles'. 47 Skin's 'life-changing' skincare products for spot-prone teens are now 10% off L'Oreal anti-ageing skincare bundle with 'magic in a jar' cream is now £47 off Dermatologist approved, the serum is designed to target the six key wrinkle zones; forehead, crows feet, lip, between brows, under eyes and nasolabial folds. Simply apply the product directly to lines and wrinkles for 'fast, visible results where you want them most'. Elsewhere, a number of retailers have similar options available. Medik8 stocks the Liquid Peptides Advanced MP for £79. The wrinkle reduction serum contains a 30% multi-peptide complex that's proven to deliver results in as little as 10 minutes. Meanwhile, FaceTheory has the Retinol Ester 2% Renewing Serum for £22. The firming 2% retinol ester serum contains vitamin C and hyaluronic acid, which work to brighten and hydrate. The popular No7 product. however, has sold more than four million tubes, with the wrinkle-busting hero boasting a rating of 4 out of five on the Boots website. One customer wrote: 'I've been using this for just 2 weeks and I can see an amazing difference in a deep frown line on my forehead. The product feels lovely to apply and most importantly it really works.' Another commented: 'I've been using this for a couple of weeks now and have noticed an improvement in deep lines, particularly smile lines. Purchased during £10 Tuesdays so fantastic value for money. Would repurchase at full price.' But not everyone has seen the results that they were hoping for. One shopper left a lukewarm two star review which read: 'Been using this a few weeks now religiously morning and night as part of my No7 routine. I'm sad to say I'm not really seeing a difference. Didn't expect it to work on deeper lines (gosh polyfiller wont even help me there) but I expected to really see a difference on fine lines. Normally a huge fan of No7 but sadly not on this occasion.' While a fourth commented: 'I've used the No7 Laboratories line corrector for several years now. The first and most noticeable difference was to my forehead lines. However over two or three weeks I noticed the lines/wrinkles on my cheeks were definitely less obvious. I'm very happy with the results and even happier when the Line Corrector is available on Boots £10 Tuesday.' It's not the only deal worth taking a look at on Boots £10 Tuesday, though, as other deals include money off products from Olay, L'Oreal, Huda Beauty and more. Shoppers can explore the £10 Tuesday deals on the Boots website, or buy the No7 Line Correcting Booster Serum here.
