Mini Crossword
NYT
The NYT Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper's larger and long-running crossword. Most days, there are between three and five clues in each direction on a five by five grid, but the puzzles are sometimes larger, especially on Saturdays.
Unlike its larger sibling, the NYT Mini crossword is free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you'll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives.
The NYT Mini is a fun daily distraction that usually takes no time at all. I try to beat the standard weekday grid in less than a minute. But sometimes I can't quite figure out one or two clues and need to reveal the answer.
To help you avoid doing that, here are the NYT Mini Crossword answers (spoilers lie ahead, of course):
ACROSS
1) The "A" of MoMA - ART4) Like steak tartare and carpaccio - RAW5) Attire for wizards and judges - ROBES7) Warm shade of yellowish-orange - AMBER8) Most populous country in the Caribbean - HAITI9) Messy room, so to speak - STY
DOWN
1) Noted features of bakeries and candle shops - AROMAS2) What a magician might pull out of the [circled letters]

NYT
Another puzzle with a few circles in it today, making for a rather clever magic-based clue. Besides that, I didn't know that Haiti was the most populous country in the Caribbean in this puzzle, but I guess that's why we do these, huh? My colorblindness didn't help me with amber, certainly, but the robes, sty, sri and art clues were easy enough.

A Bunch Of Drag Queens Got The Opposite Reaction To Trump At The Kennedy Center

Donald Trump had a big night out at the Kennedy Center on Wednesday. Just to recap: Trump is now the head of the organization since he fired the old director, fired the board, and replaced them with his supporters. The President was there for one of his favorite musicals, Les Mis. How romantic! Things weren't all that great for the President, though. There was that whole boo'ing thing: .⁦@realDonaldTrump⁩ gets cheered and booed at the Kennedy Center. — Jeff Mason (@jeffmason1) June 11, 2025 jeffmason1/Twitter: @jeffmason1 Though to be fair, there was that "U-S-A" chant too. Sooo, a bunch of drag queens were also in attendance. They got the opposite reaction. New York Times reporter Shawn McCreesh captured the moment when the queens came into the theater: At the Kennedy Center, half the theater just started clapping when a group of drag queens showed up to find their seats at opening night of Les Miserables, which Trump, Melania, Vance and their top allies have all come out to see. — Shawn McCreesh (@ShawnMcCreesh) June 11, 2025 ShawnMcCreesh/Twitter: @ShawnMcCreesh People in the replies are lovin' it: "This is an outstanding moment." Another person commented, "Protest can be as simple as being seen." "Trolling Trump, but make it slay," another person wrote. And this person has the best comment with: "America has no king, just Queens."

NYT ‘Connections' Hints For Friday, June 13: Clues And Answers For Today's Game

Find the links between the words to win today's game of Connections. Each day's game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before we get to today's Connections hints and answers, here are Thursday's: Hey there, Connectors! The weekend is right around the corner, so let's make sure we roll into Saturday while keeping our streaks intact. I try to keep this column light and positive for the most part, but I have to be honest: I've found it hard to focus this week. I suspect you may know the reasons why. This isn't quite the right arena to delve into those. However, I have similar feelings as one of my colleagues, who is perhaps the finest writer I've had the pleasure of working alongside and deftly distilled those. Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It's a fun hangout spot, and you're more than welcome to hang out with us. Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don't look at the comments or Twitter much. You can also read my weekend editions of this column at my new newsletter, Pastimes. Today's NYT Connections hints and answers for Friday, June 13 are coming right up. Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on the NYT's website or Games app. You're presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part. There's only one solution for each puzzle, and you'll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them. Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay. Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you're incorrect, you'll lose a life. If you're close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you're one word away from getting it right, but you'll still need to figure out which one to swap. If you make four mistakes, it's game over. Let's make sure that doesn't happen with the help of some hints, and, if you're really struggling, today's Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it's easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats. If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the publication's Connections archive. This includes every previous game of Connections, so you can go back and play any of those that you have missed. Scroll slowly! Just after the hints for each of today's Connections groups, I'll reveal what the groups are without immediately telling you which words go into them. Today's 16 words are... And the hints for today's Connections groups are: Need some extra help? Be warned: we're starting to get into spoiler territory. Let's take a look at one word for each group. Today's Connections word hints are… Today's Connections groups are... Spoiler alert! Don't scroll any further down the page until you're ready to find out today's Connections answers. This is your final warning! Today's Connections answers are... ONE WEEK (by the Canadian icons themselves, Barenaked Ladies) and CLOSING TIME (Semisonic) made the blues instantly clear. Well, clear enough. I knew that IRIS (The Goo Goo Dolls) was from around that same time, but it took me a minute to remember the song TOO CLOSE by Next to complete that group. Things were fairly straightforward for me from that point. POINT OF VIEW was my entry point into the yellows, and the greens were pretty obvious from the jump. Given that I was pretty confident about those two groups, I'm not entirely sure why I didn't go for the purples before either of those (then again, the reverse rainbow was already off the table). That connection wasn't too tough to figure out, after all. But hey, we'll take a perfect game all day long with no complaints. That extends my streak to 108 wins! Here's my grid: 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 That's all there is to it for today's Connections clues and answers. I'll be back with you all here on Monday. In the meantime, you can check out my weekend editions of this column in my newsletter, Pastimes. P.S. I had another recommendation in mind, but I'll shove that back into my pocket until probably Tuesday because every one of the songs mentioned in the blue group is great. I'm just going to drop them all in right here for your listening pleasure: Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and others! Call someone you love! Please follow my blog for more coverage of NYT Connections and other word games, and even some video game news, insights and analysis. It helps me out a lot! Sharing this column with other people who play Connections would be appreciated too. You can also read my weekend editions of this column at my new newsletter, Pastimes.
