Patna: One criminal was shot in the leg and five others were arrested in a joint operation by Patna police and the Special Task Force (STF) in the Bikram police station area of the district on Thursday evening.
Police said the arrested men are wanted in several criminal cases in Bikram and other police station areas.
According to officials, police received a tip-off on Thursday night that a gang was planning a major crime. While conducting vehicle checks near Nisarpura village in Bikram, officers spotted six men on two motorcycles who attempted to flee. Police managed to detain three suspects from one motorcycle. The others opened fire, prompting police to return fire, injuring one suspect in the leg.
He and another accomplice were then arrested.
One criminal managed to escape.
City SP (west), Sarath RS, said, "The arrested criminals were found with four pistols, two magazines, two cellphones and two motorcycles. The arrested people were identified as Ankit Kumar from Bihta, Jitendra Kumar from Parsa Bazaar, Sonu Kumar from Khagaul, Shubham alias Reyansh Kumar from Phulwari Sharif, Ritik Kumar Yadav alias Sujeet Kumar from Patna and Vishal Kumar from Bikram."
Except for Sonu Kumar, all of the arrested have prior criminal records, including charges of murder and robbery, and have served time in jail. Investigations suggest they were operating as an organised gang.
"They gathered to execute another major crime, but the police were alerted in time. There is a possibility that their network extends to the prison, which is also under investigation. The police are working to apprehend the one criminal who is still at large," the SP added.

Meghalaya honeymoon murder: Raja Raghuvanshi killed after 3 failed attempts, wife Sonam's role revealed by police
Meghalaya Honeymoon Murders: As shocking details emerge in the murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi, Meghalaya police have disclosed that the Indore-based transporter was killed on the fourth attempt after three previous failed plots by the accused, including his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi and her alleged boyfriend Raj Kushwaha. The murder took place during the couple's honeymoon in Meghalaya, revealing a sinister conspiracy that unfolded over several months. Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem stated in a press briefing that the first attempt to kill Raja Raghuvanshi was made in Guwahati, followed by two unsuccessful attempts in Meghalaya's Sohra (also known as Cherrapunji) region. The killers finally succeeded at Weisawdong Falls. 'They wanted to get rid of him in different places earlier. They also wanted to get rid of Raja's body somewhere in Guwahati, but it did not materialise,' Syiem explained. The conspirators had planned to eliminate Raja Raghuvanshi at various locations, including Nongriat and between Mawlakhiat and Weisawdong, but these plans failed to materialise until the fatal attack at Weisawdong. The murder was premeditated, with the accused having reached Guwahati on 19 May, ahead of Raja and Sonam, who had come to visit Kamakhya after their marriage. The initial plan to kill Raja in Guwahati was abandoned as Sonam Raghuvanshi planned to travel to Shillong and Sohra, prompting the conspirators to adjust their scheme accordingly. "Sonam and Raja reached Guwahati to visit Kamakhya after marriage. The killers had already reached on 19 May. Their initial plan was to kill Raja in Guwahati, but Sonam had planned to go to Shillong and Sohra. Therefore, this plan was shelved," the SP added. In the wake of the sensational murder case, family members of Raj Kushwaha, accused of being Sonam's boyfriend and the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, have come forward to assert his innocence. Raj's grandparents and extended family from Fatehpur district in Uttar Pradesh vehemently denied any romantic involvement between Raj and Sonam, according to a News18 report. Raj's grandmother, Ram Lalli, told News18, 'My grandson is innocent. He had nothing to do with that woman. He's being trapped. Big people can do anything." She added, 'My grandson can't kill, he gave away his slippers to the poor, how can he be a murderer." Raj's grandfather, Darbari Singh, emphasised Raj's dedication to his family and lack of any romantic history: 'He's been working hard to support his mother and three sisters ever since his father passed away five years ago. What Sonam, what affair? He only minded his own business." The family also clarified that Raj and Sonam were merely colleagues at a factory owned by Sonam's brother in Indore. 'Talking at work doesn't mean an affair," said Ram Lalli. Raj's maternal uncle, Ranjeet Singh, vouched for his character, stating, 'If even one person in the village says Raj has ever done anything wrong, hang him. But he is innocent". Police investigations have revealed that the Raja Raghuvanshi murder plot was hatched well before Raja and Sonam Raghuvanshi's marriage, with Raj Kushwaha identified as the mastermind and Sonam complicit in the plan. In police custody, Sonam has claimed that she killed her husband under pressure from Raj, while Raj has insisted that Sonam planned and executed the murder herself, manipulating him into involvement. The accused had considered various methods, including making Sonam disappear and even killing another woman to pass her off as Sonam, but these plans did not come to fruition, according to police statements. All five accused, including Sonam, Raj Kushwaha, and three others, have have been arrested. The murder was not a contract killing but carried out as a favour to Raj, according to police statements.

Sonam Raghuvanshi says she was forced into marriage; cops reveal Raja Raghuvanshi was killed in fourth attempt
SHILLONG: Raja Raghuvanshi was murdered in the fourth attempt by his wife Sonam and three other assailants between Guwahati and Sohra, police said on Thursday after interrogating the five accused, who have all confessed to the murder of the Indore transporter. 'Though we want more about how actually the whole murder took place, she said that she was forced to marry Raja, which she said was the reason,' East Khasi Hills superintendent of police Vivek Syiem said. 'As of now at this juncture it is very clear that it is a love angle which has happened. Raj is the mastermind,' Syiem said, adding that all the five accused _Sonam, Vishal Chauhan, Raj Kushwaha, Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi _ said the plan was hatched in Indore 11 days before Raja and Sonam's wedding. 'They were all friends and one of them was Raj's cousin. It was not a contract killing. They committed the crime as a favour to Raj,' said the SP. 'They wanted to get rid of Raja in various places. First, they tried to eliminate him somewhere in Guwahati, which did not materialize. They then wanted to eliminate him in Nongriat. But they didn't find a place to dispose the body. They then wanted to do it between Mawalakhyat and Weisawdong but that also didn't happen. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Versátil como sempre. Mais autonomia que nunca. MINI Saiba Mais Undo Finally, they did it in Weisawdong falls,' the SP said. Investigations revealed how the suspects planned Sonam's disappearance back in February, way before Raja and Sonam tied the knot. The three people involved in the crime arrived in Guwahati way before Sonam did, the SP said. 'The initial plan was to eliminate Raja in Guwahati itself. Since they were unable to execute the plan in Guwahati, Sonam decided to travel to Shillong and then to Sohra. Later, they decided to execute the plan in Nongriat,' Vivek Syiem said. 'All the accused took turns to hack Raja Raghuvanshi. Then they threw the body into the gorge. They left the place immediately after. Akash discarded his shirt and put on the raincoat Sonam was wearing.' The police claimed that in February Sonam and Raj had initially thought of ways where Sonam would disappear and probably escape the marriage with Raja. 'One plan was to make her get washed by ariver. Another plan was murder somebody, put it on a scooty and burn that person's body and later claim to be that of Sonam's,' the SP said. But when these ideas could not be implemented, they focussed on eliminating Raja after the wedding, police said. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here .
