Jamshedpur: The maiden entry of
Jamshedpur Football Club
(JFC) to the summit clash of the
Kalinga Super Cup 2025
has generated a buzz of excitement among the fans in Jamshedpur. The keen '
Men of Steel
' fans are eagerly waiting to take on the one-time champion Football Club (FC) Goa at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Adding to the excitement is the preparation being done by JFC to ensure that its fans watch the thrilling contest live on a giant screen. "We are putting up a giant screen at the community centre ground in Dhatkidih for our soccer fans to watch the final match live," JFC media in-charge Amit Kumar said.
The crowd, which is expected to come in large numbers from across the city, can enjoy food and soft drinks from stalls set up at the ground to make the most of the eventful evening. Moreover, the hospitality sector is also planning to live telecast the match on big screens.
Hotelier Raja Singh said he would show the final match live on a big screen at their hotel-cum-resort, located on the Tata-Ranchi NH-33. "IPL matches are being screened live on our big screen, but tomorrow's football match of JFC is important and will be shown live to our guests," Raja Singh said.

The Mocha Cafe and the Bar Bistupur manager, Priya, said the live screening of the final match has been planned. "The final match is eagerly awaited. It will be an exciting evening for our customers," Priya said.
Amid the escalating frenzy and excitement, the enthusiasts believe the Kalinga Cup final has come as an opportunity for the Khalid Jamil boys to make up for the semi-final defeat in the India Super League (ISL) 2024-25. "There's no stopping our boys. Determined to win their first-ever Super Cup and make up for the ISL semi-final loss," said JFC fan, 28-year-old Aditya Pathak.
Bank executive and JFC fan Shailesh Tiwary said in the previous two editions, JFC failed at the semi-final stage. "In the current edition, the Khalid Jamil boys are completely focused and resilient."
Further, on the back of the show of unwavering support and affection for Javi Hernandez, Stephen Eze, Rei Tachikawa, and Javier Siverio, there's a word of caution coming from the JFC fans for the match against
FC Goa
, also known as the Gaurs. "The Gaurs are not an underdog but favourites. Our players have to do their best," said JFC supporter and school football coach, Sanjay Mahato.

Cricket, connections & courtship: How Rinku Singh met SP MP Priya Saroj
LUCKNOW: Cricketer Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj first crossed paths through one of Priya's friend's father, who is also a cricketer. The connection eventually blossomed into a relationship, supported by both families. According to Priya's father, Tufani Saroj, SP MLA from Kerakat in Jaunpur, the two had known each other for some time before formally announcing their intent to marry. The couple's engagement is scheduled for June 8 in Lucknow, followed by a wedding ceremony on November 18 at Hotel Taj in Varanasi (Kashi). Confirming the dates, Tufani Saroj said on Sunday that preparations are already underway to host grand celebrations. Prominent political leaders, especially from the Samajwadi Party, along with cricket stars, film personalities, and industrialists are expected to attend the events. In January, Tufani Saroj publicly announced the upcoming marriage between his daughter and the T20 cricket sensation after the two families held initial discussions to formalise the alliance. Like Rinku, who rose to fame by smashing five sixes in the final over during an IPL 2023 match against Gujarat Titans—completing the highest-ever last-over chase of 29 runs for Kolkata Knight Riders—Priya too had a spectacular rise. She became one of the youngest parliamentarians in the country by winning the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Machhlishahr (reserved), a constituency previously represented three times by her father before he shifted to contest from the Kerakat assembly seat in 2022. With Rinku focusing on the T20 series against England and the IPL, and Priya involved in her political campaign, both families agreed to decide the wedding dates only after the couple could sit together post-elections and tournaments. Now, with the dates set, the families are preparing to celebrate the union of two rising stars in cricket and politics.

Preity Zinta's Jersey Surprise For Cheering Fans Feels Like A Match-Winning Six
Last Updated: Preity Zinta is one of the co-owners of the Indian Premier League cricket team Punjab Kings alongside Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia and Karan Paul. When it comes to winning hearts off the field, Preity Zinta is clearly an all-rounder. The actress, who is one of the co-owners of the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket team Punjab Kings alongside Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia and Karan Paul, recently gave her fans a moment they won't forget. During one of the team's matches, Preity surprised the crowd by personally distributing the team's jerseys to the fans cheering for Punjab Kings at the stadium. A video of the event shows Preity tossing the jerseys towards the fans on every side to make sure no one misses out on grabbing one. Before she left, Preity sealed the moment with a sweet flying kiss to her fans. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Viral Bhayani (@viralbhayani) Though she was busy spreading joy in the stands, Preity didn't hold back when it came to speaking up for her team after a loss. Punjab Kings faced Delhi Capitals but lost the game by six wickets which brought a big blow to their chances of qualifying in the top two. The defeat came after a controversial decision by the third umpire that went against Punjab Kings. The moment came in the 15th over of Punjab Kings' innings. On the last ball, Shashank Singh hit a powerful shot that went over the boundary which looked like a six. The crowd and players seemed convinced it was a clear maximum. Moreover, Karun Nair, who was fielding right near the boundary rope, signalled that the ball had crossed the fence after trying to stop it. But when the third umpire reviewed the footage, he found no clear evidence that Nair's foot had touched or crossed the boundary line during his catch attempt. Due to this, the shot was not counted as a six. Instead, Punjab Kings were awarded just a single run. Replying to a fan's tweet on X, Preity revealed that she had spoken to Karun Nair who said that the ball had clearly crossed the boundary fence. 'In such a high profile tournament with so much technology at the Third Umpire's disposal such mistakes are unacceptable & simply shouldn't happen. I spoke To Karun after the game & he confirmed it was DEFINITELY a 6 ! I rest my case ! #PBKSvsDC #IPL2025," she wrote. Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham - Preity Zinta, Nita Ambani's Contrasting Emotions Sum Up IPL 2025 Thriller
Punjab Kings reached the IPL 2025 Final after 11 years as the Shreyas Iyer -led side registered a sensational win over Mumbai Indians on Sunday. Shreyas led by example as he slammed an unbeaten 87 off just 41 deliveries to guide his team to a 5-wicket victory. It was a brilliant show from PBKS after they were completely outplayed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1. The two teams will face each other once again in the IPL 2025 Final and it is confirmed that one of the sides will lift their maiden title. Following the match, there were contrasting emotions in both camps as PBKS co-owner Preity Zinta could not hide her excitement while MI owner Nita Ambani was left distraught. Punjab Kings Owner Preity Zinta meets Shreyas Iyer & Ricky ponting after the match at Ahmedabad.!!! — MANU. (@IMManu_18) June 2, 2025 Preity Zinta was seen jumping in excitement and she hugged both Shreyas and PBKS head coach Ricky Ponting after entering the ground. The mood in the MI camp, however, was that of complete shock as the owners were left stunned while captain Hardik Pandya broke down following the defeat. Mumbai Indians player reaction Neeta Ambani Rohit Sharma Hardik Pandya Jasprit bumrah #MIvsPBKS — Avesh Gautam (@avesh905791) June 2, 2025 Iyer, who led KKR to IPL title last year, played one of the finest knocks under pressure in a high stakes knock-out game to chase down a target of 204 in just 19 overs. Asked about his secret recipe, Iyer replied: "I don't know to be honest, I love such big occasions. I always say to myself and to my colleagues in the team that the bigger the occasion, the calmer you are, you get the big results," Iyer said during the post-match presentation ceremony. Bc that reaction from Nita Ambani — RSB (@13Ranny_tweets) June 2, 2025 "Today was a right example where I was focusing more on my breathing rather than sweating out there," he added. He was happy that each and every player showed intent. "All players need to be assertive and show that intent from ball one. The intent was stupendous and even for me, I had to take some time. Nita Ambani — (@redflagphupha) June 1, 2025 "From the other end, the batsmen were striking pretty well. I know the more time I spend on the field, the better I get and my vision also gets better." Even MI skipper Hardik Pandya agreed that Iyer took the game away from them. "The way Shreyas batted, took his chances and some of the shots he played were really outstanding and I think they definitely batted really well." Pandya did admit that execution on part of MI bowlers was off the mark. "I think it was par, but it needed some great execution as a bowling unit which I think in these big games it really matters and as I mentioned they were really calm, put us under pressure and I think we were not able to execute the way we wanted. "I will not put it on the wicket, if we had to something better it was maybe someone bowling right lengths or maybe right bowler at the right point, the result could have been a bit different."
