Man shot dead by friend after being mistaken for wild boar
Sri Aman District Police Chief Superintendent Dennis Bunyam said initial investigations found that the suspect, a 46-year-old man and hunting companion of the victim, fired a shot at the victim thinking he was a wild boar.

According to Utusan Borneo, he mentioned that the 40-year-old victim was confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel who arrived shortly after the incident.
'Investigations revealed that the suspect did not possess a valid firearm license to conduct hunting activities in that area,' he said in a statement yesterday.
The police also seized the shotgun used in the incident.
The suspect is now remanded until May 30 to assist in investigations under Section 304A of the Penal Code for causing death by negligence, and is also being investigated under the Firearms Act 1960 for possession of an unlicensed firearm.
'The public is advised to always comply with laws related to firearm ownership and usage, and to ensure hunting activities are conducted with valid permits and licenses from the authorities,' said Dennis.

KOTA KINABALU: The legal team representing the family of Zara Qairina Mahathir has welcomed the Attorney-General's Chambers (A-GC) decision to charge several suspects in connection with her alleged bullying case. The team, led by Hamid Ismail, said the decision aligns with recommendations they submitted to the A-GC on Aug 14. "Our proposal at the time was based on disclosures by the Director of Bukit Aman's Criminal Investigation Department, which revealed evidence pointing to bullying prior to the incident involving Zara Qairina. However, the lawyers noted that they have yet to be informed of the identities of those who will be charged in court. Earlier, the Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, when contacted, confirmed that five teenage girls would be charged in connection with Zara Qairina's death. Dusuki said the five would be charged at the Kota Kinabalu Juvenile Court on Wednesday. The A-GC said the decision was b ased on police investigation papers.

Six men remanded over armed assault outside nightclub
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have remanded six men for four days after a 29-year-old man was assaulted by a group of armed individuals outside a nightclub in the city. Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said the suspects, aged between 25 and 29, were arrested following a report lodged at 9.33am yesterday. A 28-second video of the incident has since gone viral, showing the victim being attacked and sustaining injuries to his back. "The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for possessing weapons during a riot, and Section 326 for voluntarily causing grievous hurt," he said in a statement today. He added that police obtained a four-day remand order for all suspects under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code, until Thursday.

Six men arrested over armed riot at KL nightclub
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested six men suspected of being involved in an armed riot at a nightclub in the capital on Sunday (Aug 17), which left another man injured. Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said the arrests followed a police report lodged by a 29-year-old man at 9.33am on Saturday. The victim claimed he was assaulted by a group of unidentified men while leaving the nightclub, sustaining injuries to his back. "Acting on the information, six suspects aged 25 to 29 were arrested. All are remanded for four days until Aug 21," he said in a statement on Sunday (Aug 18), adding that the case was being investigated under Sections 148 and 326 of the Penal Code.
