The Adani Group 's Annual General Meeting (AGM) for FY26 began on Tuesday, with chairman Gautam Adani commenting on India's resilience amid ongoing global conflicts, bribery allegations, and key updates across the conglomerate's businesses, including its energy, airport, and other segments.Industrialist Gautam Adani has been ranked the 25th richest person in the world, according to the latest Forbes Real-Time Billionaires List. As of now, his net worth stands at $63.1 billion, a significant recovery from the lows seen in early 2023.Adani, the chairman of the Ahmedabad-headquartered Adani Group, oversees a vast empire with interests spanning ports, airports, power generation and transmission, and green energy. The group began as a commodities trading firm in 1988 and has grown into one of India's most influential conglomerates, often seen as aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's infrastructure push. The billionaire's financial standing suffered a major blow in January 2023 after US-based Hindenburg Research accused the Adani Group of stock manipulation and accounting fraud. While the group denied any wrongdoing, the fallout led to a sharp fall in the value of its listed companies. However, the tide turned a year later when India's Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Adani Group, effectively clearing the way for renewed investor confidence. Since then, the group's market value has rebounded significantly, contributing to Gautam Adani's climb back into the top 30 richest people globally.Adani is currently India's largest airport operator and controls Mundra Port , the country's biggest commercial port located in Gujarat. His infrastructure expansion continues to attract both global investment and regulatory scrutiny.Despite volatility, Gautam Adani remains a central figure in India's economic landscape, and his net worth trajectory reflects both the ambition and fragility of rapid industrial growth in emerging markets.

Indian Railways to raise ticket prices for passenger trains from July 1

Suburban train travel and second-class travel for up to 500 km have been spared from any fare hike. However, 0.5 paise per kilometre hike will be implemented for distances more than 500 km New Delhi Indian Railways is set to increase ticket prices for passenger trains starting July 1, The Times of India reported, citing sources. Fares for non-AC mail and express trains will rise by 1 paisa per kilometre, while AC classes will see a 2 paise per kilometre increase, according to the news report. This will be the first hike in passenger train fares since 2020. Meanwhile, suburban train travel and second-class travel for up to 500 kilometre have been spared from any fare hike. However, 0.5 paise per kilometre hike will be implemented for distances more than 500 kilometres, the report added. This comes after the Railway Ministry earlier this month announced that Aadhaar authentication will become mandatory for booking Tatkal tickets online via the IRCTC website and mobile app starting July 1. From July 15, Aadhaar-based OTP verification will also be extended to Tatkal tickets booked at reservation counters and through authorised agents. 'Tatkal tickets shall be available for booking through computerised PRS (Passenger Reservation System) counters of Indian Railways/authorised agents only after authentication of a system-generated OTP, which shall be sent through the system on the mobile number furnished by the users at the time of booking. This shall also be implemented by 15/07/2025,' the ministry said. The ministry said that the new authentication measures aim to curb misuse and ensure that Tatkal ticketing benefits genuine passengers. As part of this, authorised agents will also be restricted from booking Tatkal tickets during the first 30 minutes of the booking window—between 10 am and 10.30 am for AC classes, and 11 am to 11.30 am for non-AC classes.

Ashok Leyland sees single-digit growth in medium, heavy vehicle segment

Industry growth is expected to be driven by the government investment in infrastructure and tailwinds such as the good performance of core industries, Sanjeev Kumar, President - M&HCV said Press Trust of India New Delhi The medium and heavy commercial vehicles segment in India is expected to grow in the single digit this fiscal, recovering from a decline of 3 per cent in FY25, a top official of Ashok Leyland said on Tuesday. The Chennai-based firm is planning to grow ahead of the industry this year and is focusing on expanding its presence in North India, the largest market for commercial vehicles (CVs), Sanjeev Kumar, President - M&HCV at Ashok Leyland Ltd, told reporters here. "When you look at last year, the industry volume came down by 3 per cent. Our understanding is that this is the fourth year running. So we expect the industry to grow, at least in single digit," he said when asked about the industry outlook. Commenting on the significance of the North Indian market, he said, it is the largest market for the CV sector and contributes to more than a third of the total industry volume. "We want the North (market) contribution to go at least 30 per cent. Right now, its contribution is a bit low...," Kumar added. Further, he said, "We have gained nearly 6.5 per cent market share in the last three remain dedicated to strengthening our presence in Northern India." Evera Cabs secures $4 mn from Mufin Green Finance to speed up EV expansion

Amid plans to accelerate its electric vehicle (EV) fleet expansion, Evera Cabs, a homegrown all-electric, app-based cab service, has secured $4 million in funding from Mufin Green Finance. The capital is secured through a hybrid structure comprising convertible debentures and debt. As its fleet size increases, supported by the acquisition of a portion of BluSmart's vehicle inventory, Evera is looking to double down on its airport network expansion. The company, which previously operated only from Terminal 3 of the Delhi airport, now plans to expand its services to Terminal 1 while also strengthening its base at the existing terminal. The Delhi-based startup has already acquired over 220 EVs—a mix of Tata Tigor, Citroën and MG ZS EV models. In total, Evera plans to acquire 1,000 BluSmart cars. The investment reflects growing investor confidence in the green mobility space. Commenting on the development, Nimish Trivedi, co-founder and chief executive officer of Evera, said: 'Our strategic partnership with Mufin Green Finance marks a pivotal step in scaling sustainable electric mobility. Their backing empowers us to accelerate the deployment of EVs and strengthen our operational backbone. Our recent acquisition of BluSmart's fleet and driver network further enhances our capability to help corporate multinational corporations (B2B) meet their carbon reduction targets and to deliver no cancellation and no surge airport transfer services for individuals (B2C).' 'Evera's vision for scalable, customer-first electric mobility perfectly aligns with our mission to democratise access to green transportation. Our investment goes beyond capital—it represents a strategic collaboration to strengthen India's EV ecosystem. By supporting Evera's all-electric fleet and robust service model, we are actively enabling the shift towards cleaner, smarter and more sustainable urban transit,' said Kapil Garg, founder and chief executive officer of Mufin Green Finance.
