Lewis Hamilton says he's 'useless' and suggests a driver change at Ferrari after teammate takes pole

Associated Press BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Lewis Hamilton called himself 'absolutely useless' and suggested Ferrari should change drivers after he qualified 12th for the Hungarian Grand Prix and teammate Charles Leclerc took pole position. It was a new low in a difficult first season with Ferrari for seven-time Formula 1 champion Hamilton, who qualified outside the top 10 for the second race in a row. "I'm useless, absolutely useless," Hamilton told British broadcaster Sky Sports. 'The team have no problem. You've seen the car's on pole. So they probably need to change driver.' Hamilton had said 'every time, every time' over the radio after he was eliminated in the second part of qualifying. That signified that 'it's me every time,' he clarified to Sky later. Hamilton has yet to finish on the podium in a Grand Prix race with Ferrari, with a best finish of fourth, though he did win a sprint race in China in March. Leclerc is fifth in the standings, only one position ahead of Hamilton, but has five podium finishes in 2005. In Sunday's race, he'll aim to give Ferrari its first F1 win since October. Last week, Hamilton said it was 'crunch time' and revealed he's been holding a series of meetings with Ferrari executives to discuss improvements and ensure he has more of a say in how the team develops its car for the sweeping regulation changes coming in 2026. ___ AP auto racing: recommended Item 1 of 2

36 days till the Arizona Cardinals' 2025 season opener: Who has worn No. 36?

With 36 days till the Cardinals open the season against the Saints, we look at the players who have worn No. 36. We are counting down to the start of the 2025 regular season for the Arizona Cardinals, and we are less than six weeks away. They will open the season on the road against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 7. That is 36 days away. As we count down the remaining days of the offseason, let's look at who has worn that number uniform over the years for the Cardinals. Who has worn No. 36? Cardinals players to wear No. 36 Safety Kitan Crawford, a rookie drafted in the seventh round, wears No. 36. We will see if he can make the team. The Cardinals have had a few solid players with No. 36. Budda Baker is probably the best but is known more for No. 3 now. Sikahema was very good and grew up in Mesa, Arizona. Lane was a good running back and Reaves was also good. And more recent Cardinals fans will remember how fun a player Stephens-Howling was. Insider reveals why Cardinals didn't trade Nolan Arenado

No trade clauses are perhaps the worst thing in Major League Baseball for teams like the St. Louis Cardinals, with players they want to move who are on expensive deals. For Nolan Arenado, that was the problem once again. MORE: According to a recent report from John Denton, that was something that came up during the deadline. Denton reported that the star third baseman and president of baseball operations, John Mozeliak, had a talk before the deadline, and Arenado wasn't willing to change his stance on where he wanted to be traded. "All indications are that 3B Nolan Arenado will remain with the Cardinals through today's deadline, per a source familiar with the negotiations. Arenado met recently with POBO John Mozeliak and there has been no change in the list of teams he would accept a trade to as of now," Denton shared. During the offseason, the Cardinals believed they had a chance to trade him to the Houston Astros. The deal seemed to be done, but Arenado eventually decided to pull his no-trade clause card and denied the deal. Not only is this something the front office has to continue to worry about as they look to trade him, but there are other factors that have to be considered. For instance, consider the Astros, who traded for Carlos Correa during the deadline. Instead of the Astros now being a potential landing spot for Arenado during the winter, that takes him away. Other teams will continue to improve before he's traded with this saga, which could force the Cardinals to hold onto him for the full contract term.
