Boy, 6, fighting for life after liver ruptured by woman on water park slide
A young boy and his family have had what was supposed to be a fun day out turn into a nightmare when a women hurtling down a slide crashed straight into him.
Six-year-old Gleb was having fun in the pool in a water park in St Petersburg, Russia, he had just come off another ride and his dad was carrying him across the water. But disaster struck, when from a separate slide a woman's feet smashed into his chest. Gleb's dad seemingly ignored all the safety warnings and whistles from lifeguards, walking in front of the exits of the slides when the unsuspecting woman hit the boy.
The shocking moment was captured on CCTV and it showed the moment the woman struck him at the Rodeo Drive Water Park while his father held him in front of the slide just before the impact. It comes after a dad dies in scalding hot bath as family slam hotel management for 'ignoring warnings'.
After the incident the boy was rushed to hospital and taken to the intensive care unit after suffering 'a rupture of the left lobe of his liver and internal bleeding in the abdominal cavity'.
Russian authorities have begun investigating the incident and have opened a criminal case after the severity of his injuries. The case is focusing blame on the boy's father who dragged him across the water, rather than the woman who had no idea what was about to happen.
In a statement they said: 'After sliding down into the pool, the child was picked up by his father, who began walking towards the exit from the slide area,
'Despite warnings from water park staff about the potential danger of a collision with another visitor descending the slide, the man failed to respond. As a result, a collision occurred, and the child sustained bodily injuries and was urgently hospitalised.'
The news comes just days after the The UK's biggest indoor water park expressed its "shock" and "sadness" after a little girl died following an incident on Monday, August 4.
The girl was found in a critical condition and treated poolside in the Lagoon area of Waterworld in Hanley, but despite the best efforts of staff and paramedics the four-year-old girl was declared dead in hospital.
She had been found unconscious at the attraction following the incident, but the circumstances of how she got there are now being investigated.
Staffordshire Police are making enquiries and supporting the girl's family along with the waterpark that attracts up to 400,000 visitors every year.
A Waterworld spokesperson said yesterday: "It is with great sadness that we learned of this young girl's passing later this evening. All our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during these extremely difficult times."

Russian mum stabbed after 'breasts cut off' over complaint son was killed in war
WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT. The mum of a Russian soldier killed in Ukraine was brutally stabbed and had her breasts cut off by a 'friend' when she complained about her son's death A Russian mother horrifically had her lips sewn up and breasts cut off before being brutally killed for reportedly "complaining her son had been killed in the war in Ukraine". The bloodstained body of the woman with multiple stab wounds was found on a roadside as a suspect allegedly tried to move it to a hiding place, before fleeing the scene. A 52-year-old man has been arrested and detained for two months on suspicion of murder in the Arkhara district of Amur region of eastern Russia. Macabre footage showed the scene, as someone in the clip claimed "all" the woman's organs removed. It comes after reports of a dad's desperate phone call moments before explosion kills him and his daughters READ MORE: NATO scrambles warplanes as Russia shoots down West's F-16 fighter jet in Ukraine onslaught The shocking footage caught a person as they said: "Someone killed her and dumped her on our road. They sewed her mouth shut, cut out all her organs, cut off her breasts, and left her there. We've got forensic experts working on it now." The victim had reportedly been drinking with a friend when she mentioned her soldier son had died in Vladimir Putin 's war against Ukraine. A local Russian site said a fight then broke out and the man allegedly tied the woman up before the fatal attack. The woman died at the scene from her horrific injuries. The Russian Investigative Committee said: "Two days later, after waiting until it got dark outside, the suspect decided to get rid of the mutilated body of the deceased to hide traces of the crime. "He dragged the body along the street to a secluded place to hide it, but his actions were noticed by people passing by, as a result of which he abandoned the body and escaped. After some time, the suspect was detained in the village by police officers, the crime weapon was seized at his place of residence." The identities of the suspect and victim have not been revealed but the man was pictured in court on Friday. He was remanded in custody for two months pending further investigations. This comes as the world waits for a face-to-face meeting between Donald Trump and Putin in another attempt to broker a ceasefire in Ukraine. The evil dictator has been largely isolated by Western powers since the 2022 invasion but Trump has repeatedly called Putin on the phone and has sent his special envoy to Moscow. Yuri Ushakov, the Russian leader's foreign policy adviser, said: "The American side has suggested, and we have agreed in principle, to hold a high-level bilateral meeting, that is, a meeting between presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump." Ushakov confirmed the meeting it due to happen but has not confirmed where it could take place.

Restaurant owner turns detective after police refused to investigate break-in
A restaurant owner has claimed he was forced to do his own detective work after police failed to attend a break-in at his business. Ankit Vaghela was told by police to email them his evidence of the burglary because no officers were available to visit his city centre restaurant after the early morning raid. Thieves ransacked the business around 4am and Mr Vaghela had to pick up the pieces, which were scattered on the road nearby. He said he was advised by the 999 call handler to send any CCTV footage in an email to police, who would then pick up the case. The businessman was on annual leave when his staff alerted him to the break-in at his Indian restaurant on July 31. A group of men were captured on CCTV smashing into Padharo in Southampton, Hants, and fleeing a few minutes later, according to Mr Vaghela. 'I got to the restaurant only five or 10 minutes after my staff called me,' he said. 'I watched the CCTV and followed the group's tracks down the street where I saw some of the stolen liquor bottles. 'I then discovered my broken till drawer further down, heading towards Hoglands Park. ' This is something the police should have done when I called them, but it was me. 'The police did not come down; they only wanted to see the CCTV.' Mr Vaghela said he told the 999 call handler he was happy for police to visit him later in the day, but was again told to email evidence to the force. 'The damage is done' The thieves escaped with about 20 bottles of alcohol and the till, which had £150 cash inside. Mr Vaghela will have to spend more than £1,000 on repairs to the glass door and £500 on a new till system. 'There was no help from police at the time of the incident, but they said someone could come down within five days. No one did,' he said. 'It means nothing now, the damage is done. Officers were not willing to visit the restaurant.' Although the front door was smashed and the interior heavily damaged, the restaurant could not afford to stay closed. A spokesman for Hampshire police said: 'We don't underestimate the significant impact business burglary has on victims and we do take cases very seriously when reported to us. 'Every deployment decision is based on informed risk assessments to make sure the most serious cases are prioritised, and officers are on scene where there is an immediate threat to life or there is crime in action. 'On this occasion, based on the initial information we were given regarding the offenders no longer being at the scene, our investigation could get under way without any immediate attendance. 'That investigation is progressing with lines of inquiry identified, such as CCTV.'

Tourist warning as more than a dozen go blind and drop dead at popular resort
More than a dozen tourists have died after buying 'fake' homemade alcohol at a popular resort in Russia which turned them blind before causing kidney failure More than a dozen tourists have died from methanol poisoning after unknowingly buying fake alcohol at a popular resort. It is thought many of the people were buying the homemade alcohol from a local market, which led the victims to turn blind before an agonising death - and authorities are fearing the death toll will continue to rise. All the tourists who have currently been identified made a trip to the popular resort of Sochi in Russia - Vladimir Putin 's favourite tourist spot. Among the dead are Maxim Smetanin, 37, and his wife Darya, 35, who bought the bootleg alcohol thinking it was the popular grape liquor grappa. It comes after a woman claimed 'my husband seemed confused on Christmas holiday - then he died in front of me'. Darya had small sips of the deadly drink on the long-distance train home, but soon started to feel unwell, with a report stating: 'First she went blind, and then lost consciousness.' Noticing something was seriously wrong, she was rushed to the hospital but died soon after. Unusually, her husband initially felt okay, but not long after Darya passed away, his condition took a turn, going blind and falling into a coma as his kidney collapsed. While Methanol and ethanol are both alcohols, methanol is significantly more toxic than ethanol and is highly poisonous. It is more commonly used as a fuel or solvent for paint strippers. Soon after, three members of a family of four were also killed after drinking a deadly cocktail bought from a market. All four began feeling ill, putting it down as a bad hangover, but according to reports in the Kub Mash telegram channel, in the evening they 'were unable to stand or speak, and began losing consciousness". All four were taken to the hospital, but only one of them survived. Another tourist went blind and died from kidney failure after drinking some fake Chacha - similar to Grappa- while two more female tourists died from methanol poisoning after arriving home. Following a national guard raid of what is thought to be the dodgy market stall, two people identified only as Olesya, 31, and Eteri, 71, have appeared in a Sochi court suspected of distributing the fake alcohol. Russian Interior Ministry spokeswoman Maj-Gen Irina Volk issued an urgent warning to Russians not to drink 'alcohol-containing products of unknown origin'. 'Preliminary findings indicate that the detainees were selling homemade alcoholic beverages at the local Kazachiy market,' she said. 'Efforts are currently underway to identify the producer of the life-threatening alcohol and others involved in the illegal activity.' Methanol poisoning has been on the rise in recent years as party-goers look for cheap booze and opt for local homemade drinks. This hit headlines last year when six people, including a British lawyer, died after drinking fake alcohol in Laos in South East Asia.
