Days Gone Remastered
has reignited the fight for survival with the new brutal challenges. The about-to-be-launched remaster game on April 25, 2025, on PC and PS5, introduces 3 brutal new game modes, with each of them offering unique challenges. Whether you are into fighting the 800-strong Freaker hordes or love to race against clocks, the newly introduced modes by Bend Studio will test the survival skills of the players like never before.

Survive Horde Assault Mode's Freaker attacks
The
Horde Assault
mode is the new arcade survival mode in Days Gone Remastered. It throws the players into the massive open area with hordes of approx. 800 Freakers. They are far larger than the biggest swarm of the original game. Unlike the story mode, here you will start with maxed-out weapons, the fully upgraded bike, and 24 gameplay modifiers (Injectors), like the Exploding Freakers (on death, the enemies burst) and Wanted (maximum difficulty right from the start).
The goal here is to survive as long as possible while completing the Side Jobs for some extra XPs and loot. The mode even introduces some new enemies and their types, like Reachers, Rager Bears, and Breakers, right alongside the human ambushers. The success here unlocks at 35 reward tiers, including the playable characters like O'Brian and Skizzo. There are also cosmetics and secret bike upgrades here.
Race against the clock in Speedrun Mode
If you thrive under pressure, the mode adds a real-time tracker. It records the best completion times of yours across all the difficulties. The timer pauses during the cutscenes and ensures fair competition. Bend Studio has designed the mode for the veterans and the newcomers, letting them test their mastery of the Days Gone world.
At your run's end, you will get the detailed statistics breakdown, showing the best splits and your total playtime. The key to your success here is minimal combat delays, efficient route planning, and smart bike upgrades that allow you to save precious seconds.
Enjoy the ultimate survival challenge with Permadeath Mode
It is one of the most punishing additions within Days Gone Remastered. The
Permadeath mode
erases your save file, if the Deacon died, even once. The mode takes inspiration from the fan demand and comes with 2 settings.
Whole Game- where you will have to restart from scratch if you die.
Per Act- allowing you to reset to the start of the act.
Bend Studio has warned that the trees in the mode are the deadliest threat in the mode. To survive the challenge, scavenge constantly while you avoid any reckless fights and give priority to the Tucker's camp early on for better weapons. Moreover, the mode is perfect for players who want true hardcore survival, where all the decisions would mean the game is over.
