Jeremy Clarkson 'devastated' as Diddly Squat farm struck by TB

Jeremy Clarkson's Diddly Squat Farm has been rocked by the 'bad news'
Jeremy Clarkson has announced his Diddly Squat Farm has been struck by a bout of TB. Staff at the Oxfordshire farm are 'devastated' by the 'bad news' the former Top Gear host said on X today. Clarkson, 65, said: 'Bad news from Diddly Squat. We've gone down with TB. Everyone here is absolutely devastated.

'The offending animal is pregnant with twins.'

The Amazon Prime star then clarified it's Bovine TB that has been detected, and he further tweeted: 'I should clear this up really. It's bovine TB that we have. It doesn't affect people, just our poor cows.'

One X follower questioned the condition of Clarkson's prize-winning Aberdeen Angus bull, Endgame, and the presenter replied: 'His test was 'inconclusive'. I couldn't bear it if we lost him.'
Bovine tuberculosis (TB) in cattle can often mean infected animals are destroyed to prevent the spread of the disease.

Last year Clarkson was visited by officers from Thames Valley Police over claims by activists that he'd been blocking setts on his estate, which is illegal. He later said he'd told police he shot the badgers instead so had no need to block the setts.
He revealed at the time: "Mercifully, however, I had the perfect excuse: "I've shot all the badgers on the farm so why would I want to fill in their setts? And yes, before you ask, it was all legal."
Clarkson has spoken out about the risk of TB outbreaks on the farm in the past and in one episode of Clarkson's Farm, he ranted about 'b*****d' badgers, which he found impossible to prevent.

He said: 'We thought, 'What do we do?' because if you want to make a popular show you have to say, 'Oh, look at the little cuddly-wuddly badgers.' But I thought: no, it's a farming show, and you'd lose your core audience, the farmers, if you went around, saying, 'Look at these sweet little animals'.
"So, I actually called them b*****ds and showed people what they actually do. It's truthful.

"These are not nice animals. Do not be fooled by Brian May. This is what badgers do. This is how much heartache they're causing to people who've worked for generations to build up a farm that's been wiped out by badgers."
Kaleb Cooper, Clarkson's co-star on the Amazon Prime show, also addressed the disease as he revealed three of his own 21 dairy cows had contracted bovine TB. Visibly emotional, he said on Instagram in 2023: "Now today's a bit stressful. Today I've just found out the place where I have my dairy cows – the 21 cows that I bought – has got three reactors to TB.
"I don't really know how to describe the emotion. I know I mean it's not all my cows and I don't know how he [the other owner] feels – but it's hard."
An episode in season two focused on the presence of badgers and the threat they posed to cows due to carrying the bacteria that causes TB.

Alex Jones confirms return of her The One Show co-host after lengthy break

The One Show host Alex Jones confirmed the return of her co-host after a lengthy absence from the BBC programme. Alex Jones has disclosed that one of her previous co-presenters is making a comeback to The One Show next week. ‌ At the end of Friday's (August 1) programme, the Welsh host, who recently provided an update to her followers, i nformed BBC audiences that Ronan Keating was returning to the iconic green sofa following an extended absence. ‌ As the episode ended she announced to viewers: "That's all we've got time for tonight! a big thank you to our guests. ‌ "Now, Ronan Keating is back with me on Monday, with guest's Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Ade Edmondson and Helen George." The revelation follows the Boyzone singer's disclosure back in 2023 that he would be presenting fewer programmes owing to his musical obligations, reports Wales Online. In a statement released at the time, Ronan explained: "I'll be doing less shows this year due to my performing and recording schedule but I'm still very much part of the family." ‌ Meanwhile in the episode, presenters Alex and Clara Amfo admitted they felt anxious about one specific guest they would be interviewing. As Friday's programme began, BBC viewers witnessed Clara and Alex reveal who would be appearing later in the show. ‌ Initially they mentioned Vicky McClure would be performing live later in the programme with Jon McClure's band Reverend and the Makers. Nevertheless, it was actor Sam Claflin who left the pair feeling nervous about welcoming him onto the programme. ‌ Clara said: "We're equally excited by somebody else who knows a thing or two about rock'n'roll, actor Sam Claflin blew us away in Daisy Jones and The Six. "Honestly, myself and Al were obsessed with this show, we're a bit worried that he's going to be scared of us later, but we carry on!" Despite this, it appeared Sam was entirely comfortable whilst chatting to the duo, as they discussed his part in the Amazon Prime programme. ‌ Playing Billy Dunne in Daisy Jones and The Six, Clara didn't hesitate to enquire whether viewers might anticipate another series. The star responded: "I can't speak for everyone, I can speak for myself. I think we'd love to. It's just not in my hands! It's not my decision unfortunately. "I think getting six actors together with our schedules-obviously, if we were a band, our schedules would be aligned. "But, we're all actors, we all have families, we're all from different parts of the world. The desire is there, but it's out of my hands." The One Show is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

‘It focuses the mind': Jeremy Clarkson on Diddly Squat's TB outbreak

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed the 'enormous' extent of the disruption caused by a 'bloody awful' bovine tuberculosis case on his farm. He said the unexpected TB diagnosis, the first for the television presenter, had thrown operations at Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire into disarray, admitting that he was on a 'very steep learning curve'. It has been a bad week for Clarkson, who also revealed that one of the 12 puppies in a litter by his dog Arya had died. His partner, Lisa Hogan, named the puppy on social media as 'Mr Grey', saying: 'Sad news this morning. Mr Grey has gone to fur and feather land.' TB testing on Thursday had found it was 'probable' that one cow at the farm had the respiratory disease, Clarkson said, and two other cows were suspected to be possible cases. His farm, made famous in the Amazon Prime series Clarkson's Farm, has what he calls a 'tiny herd' of nine cows, seven calves and one bull.
