There is a lot of speculation going around about the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in one-day cricket.
The duo, who had already announced their retirement from T20Is (after winning the World Cup in 2024) and from Test cricket before the ongoing England tour, have sparked debate over their ODI future.

However, in his Test retirement note, Rohit had mentioned that he will continue to play in the ODIs. Virat too recently mentioned that he wants to play ODI cricket till the 2027 World Cup in South Africa.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla, speaking to reporters in London, has maintained that the duo are available for ODIs.
"I want to make it very clear once and for all," said Shukla.
"
Hum sabko bhi Rohit aur Virat ki kami hoti hai (We also miss Rohit and Virat). Lekin Rohit aur Virat ne khud ye faisla liya hai
(But Rohit and Virat have taken this decision on their own).
"
BCCI ki ye policy hai ki hum kabhi kisi player ko nahi kehte ki kab aur kis format se retirement lena chahiye
(BCCI has a very strict policy that we don't tell any player when or from which format they should retire).
Ye player ke upar hota hai, in dono ka khud ka faisla tha
(It is up to the players, and the duo made their own decision to quit Test cricket).

'I no longer want to be here': Micah Parsons officially confirms trade request in emotional message to Dallas

Micah Parsons officially confirms trade request in emotional message to Dallas (Image via Getty) Micah Parsons has asked the Dallas Cowboys to trade him. He made this clear in a long message posted on X on August 1, 2025. In that message he wrote, 'I no longer want to be here,' thanking Dallas but saying he feels the team has ignored his contract needs. That is the most important part right at the start. Micah Parsons requests trade from Dallas Cowboys after talks fall apart Micah Parsons said he asked to be traded from the Dallas Cowboys on Friday, August 1, 2025, while training camp in Oxnard, California was underway. He posted a heartfelt note on X that started, 'Thank you Dallas.' In that note he said he spoke with the Cowboys earlier about a new contract, including a meeting in March 2025 with owner Jerry Jones, but the team never entered formal talks when his agent tried to get involved. Micah Parsons said no one from Dallas has had a contract discussion with his agent, David Mulugheta, yet. This led Parsons to file a trade request directly to team COO Stephen Jones. He added: 'I no longer want to be here.' He stayed quiet at first but felt pushed by media narratives and lack of respect. 'My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally.' Micah Parsons and Jerry Jones' contract talks, agent left out and rising tension Micah Parsons, born May 26, 1999, was drafted by the Cowboys in 2021 and has become one of the NFL's top defenders with multiple All-Pro, Pro Bowl, and Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. He is now 26 and playing under the team's fifth-year rookie option, set to earn around $24 million in 2025. But he is pushing for a record deal beyond that. Also Read: Cowboys Star Micah Parsons Drops Cryptic 'One Last Time' GIF Amid Contract Standoff According to league sources, tensions rose when Jerry Jones publicly downplayed Mulugheta's role, saying he didn't even know the agent's name, even though Mulugheta is highly respected. Dallas claims the spring talks counted as a handshake deal, but Parsons' camp disagrees and says the team refuses to negotiate further. As a result, he refused to join full on-field drills at camp. Some former Cowboys like Dez Bryant have said the team should focus on football and stop the drama, warning that it could hurt team trust and performance. Other teams are expected to ask Dallas about Micah Parsons, but so far the team says it has no intention to trade him at this time. Bumrah released from squad: Will he play Asia Cup or next lot of Tests in India?

London/New Delhi: Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was on Friday released from the national squad after completing his quota of three Tests in the five-match series against England and stakeholders in Indian cricket have already started discussing his next international assignment. The 31-year-old Bumrah bowled 119.4 overs across three games and took 14 wickets. However at Manchester, Bumrah conceded more than 100 runs in a single innings for the first time in his career. Live Events Bumrah now has 219 wickets in 48 Tests. Prior to India's departure, chairman of selection committee Ajit Agarkar had confirmed that the pace ace won't play more than three Tests keeping his workload management in mind. Which format will Bumrah feature next? India's next international assignment is Asia Cup T20 tournament and it would be a surprise if Bumrah opts to play the tournament considering that the next Test series against West Indies will start in less than a week's time after the event in the UAE. The Asia Cup will conclude on September 29 and the first Test against the West Indies will start in Ahmedabad on October 2 followed by the second match in New Delhi from October 10-14 . Then in November there are two Tests against South Africa. "It will be a tricky call but Bumrah loves Test cricket and there are World Test Championship points at stake. As far as T20 is concerned, he can play the series against New Zealand in January, which will be a dress rehearsal for the T20 World Cup," a BCCI source abreast with Indian selection process told PTI on conditions of anonymity. "If Bumrah plays Asia Cup and suppose India plays the final, no way can he play against West Indies at Ahmedabad. Obviously the question arises, do you need Bumrah against West Indies or he plays Asia Cup after a month's break and plays the two Tests against South Africa. That call, Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir will have to take," the source added. Bumrah is not expected to play many ODIs till the T20 World Cup at home.

Prasidh Krishna (Pic credit: Sahil Malhotra/ in London: India pacer Prasidh Krishna downplayed his on-field exchange with Joe Root, calling it 'just good banter' after a fiery second day in the fifth and final Test at The Oval on Friday, where India clawed their way back into the contest thanks to an inspired bowling performance. Live Score: India vs England 5th Test Krishna, who returned to the playing XI, starred with figures of 4 for 62 as India bowled England out for 247, restricting their lead to just 23 runs after the hosts were cruising at 129/1. Among the key moments was a heated exchange between Krishna and Root, who uncharacteristically had to be separated by the umpires. "It was a small thing, a competitive edge. Good banter… we are good friends off the field," Krishna clarified at the end of play. Greenstone Lobo predicts result of India vs England fifth Test | What's in the stars? Krishna also addressed questions about the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and his own role in the side. 'Jasprit Bumrah playing or not playing… we know what our roles are,' he said. 'I have been picked here because I can do the job. Me not playing games can make me go to the drawing board. Here to do the job for the team. It's a process, not a performance for me.' Poll What did you think about the on-field exchange between Prasidh Krishna and Joe Root? It was just banter It was unprofessional It shows competitive spirit England had earlier made a flying start, with Zak Crawley (64) and Ben Duckett (43) adding 92 in just 13 overs. But the momentum shifted quickly after Akash Deep dismissed Duckett. Root was eventually trapped lbw by Siraj for 29, while Krishna's spell accounted for Crawley, Jamie Smith, and Overton in quick succession. Brook's enterprising 53 ended when Siraj bowled him to wrap up the innings. Woakes, nursing a shoulder injury, did not bat. India ended the day at 75/2 in their second innings, leading by 52, with Yashasvi Jaiswal unbeaten on 51.
