Barack Obama to be interviewed live on stage at London and Dublin events

Former US president Barack Obama is to be interviewed live on stage for two events in London and Dublin.
The 63-year-old, who became the first black US president when he took office in 2009, will be interviewed by TV historian David Olusoga for the event at London's The O2 on September 24, before chatting with Irish journalist Fintan O'Toole at Dublin's 3Arena on September 26.
An Evening With President Barack Obama will see the former president speak about his experiences in the role and the future for the US.
Stuart Galbraith, chief executive of Kilimanjaro, and Alex Fane, chief executive of Fane Group, the groups organising the events, said in a joint statement: 'We are incredibly honoured to bring President Obama to the UK and Ireland for these truly special events.
'His message of unity and progress resonates deeply, and we anticipate an evening that will inspire and empower all who attend.
'We believe in providing exceptional experiences, and this event perfectly aligns with our mission to connect people with inspiring moments.'
Tickets for the events go on sale at 10am on Thursday July 10, with 100 tickets set aside in each city for charitable organisations.
Since his presidency ended, Mr Obama has signed a deal with Netflix, alongside his wife Michelle, to produce documentaries, documentary series, and features for the streaming platform under their Higher Ground Productions company.
In 2022, he won the best narrator Emmy for his work on the Netflix documentary series Our Great National Parks, while he previously won Grammy awards for his audiobook reading of two of his memoirs, The Audacity Of Hope and Dreams From My Father.
The Hawaii-born former president has also hosted a podcast called Renegades: Born In The USA in 2021, alongside singer Bruce Springsteen, with the pair also releasing a book based on the podcast.

Where Michelin-star chefs go for vegetarian dishes… including one spot in the heart of Belfast

In the last instalment of our weekly series, chefs across the island of Ireland who currently hold one or more Michelin stars share their greatest culinary secret: where do they eat when off-duty? There was a time when, if you didn't eat meat or fish, your options in most Irish restaurants were severely limited. If you were lucky, there might be a mushroom risotto or a spinach and goats cheese tart on the menu – but if you weren't, dinner was something hastily adapted from the meat menu. Vegetarians were considered awkward for professional kitchens to deal with, the butt of jokes and a source of annoyance, and unless you went to a specialist restaurant as a non-meat eater you were unlikely to get anything really excellent for dinner.

Nicole Kidman and Anna Wintour shine in star-studded Wimbledon final lineup

Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman and Vogue's Anna Wintour lead the stars in center stage in the royal box during Sunday's Wimbledon men's final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner Nicole Kidman and Vogue editor-in-chief Dame Anna Wintour lead the glamour in the royal box at Wimbledon's men's singles final on Sunday, capturing attention as they enjoyed the hotly anticipated match between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Oscar-winning actress Nicole, 58, looked as chic as ever as she modelled a crisp white blazer and shirt, with her new blonde locks styled to perfection. ‌ The actress was pictured smiling and laughing as she appeared to be in an engaged conversation with fashionista Wintour, 75, who stayed true to her iconic style with dark oversized sunglasses, a floral-embellished dress, and a bold green statement necklace. ‌ The exciting day of tennis attracted a whole host of other notable guests too, including Keira Knightley, who sat nearby Nicole and Anna alongside her husband, James Righton, who is best known as part of the Klaxons. Keira, 40, opted for a clean, belted white ensemble complemented by black sunglasses and a classic pearl necklace. Meanwhile, her husband looked suave as he matched her summer vibe in a cream double-breasted suit and tie. ‌ Seated next to the loved-up couple were Irish actors Andrew Scott, 48, and P aul Mescal, 29, who recently starred together in All of Us Strangers. Scott, famed for his roles in Fleabag and Ripley, wore a beige light suit paired with gold-rimmed sunglasses. Meanwhile, Normal People star Paul, who is also widely known for Gladiator II, added a splash of colour with a patterned tie over a white shirt and dark navy jacket. ‌ The famous friends appeared to be having a great time as they were pictured laughing together and chatting with Kiera as they watched the match between Alcaraz and Sinner. Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey also made an appearance at the Grand Finale at Wimbledon today as he was seen laughing while chatting to legend Andre Agassi as he walked into the Royal Box. ‌ The How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days star, 55, was all smiles as he lapped up the sunshine centre court while dressed in a suave white three-piece suit complete with a green patterned tie. Matthew was joined by acting royalty John Lithgow as he took his seat at the event. Among the royal attendees were Peep Show's Sophie Winkleman and her husband, Lord Frederick Windsor, the latter being a son of Prince Michael of Kent. ‌ Sophie, who is officially styled as Lady Frederick, looked elegant as she modelled a vibrant green sleeveless printed dress as they arrived for the day's matches. Elsewhere, Kensington Palace confirmed the Prince and Princess of Wales would also attend the final. ‌ Kate Middleton, 43, patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, received a standing ovation on Saturday when she presented the women's singles trophy to Iga Swiatek, highlighting her continuing support for the tournament. On Sunday, Kate looked gorgeous in a royal blue dress as she attended the Wimbledon final with her husband, Prince William and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Last year, Kate presented the Wimbledon men's final trophy to Alcaraz in her second public engagement since she announced her cancer diagnosis. ‌ And it was another scorcher today for attendees as temperatures climbed to 27°C in southwest London as excitement built for the match that would close out two weeks of thrilling tennis action. The royal box was full of excitement as it set the scene for a memorable finale between Spain's defending champion Alcaraz and Italy's world number one Sinner.

Prince Harry's made a grave error saying he has more royal secrets – we'll all know them soon, experts claim

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) HE'S already done a tell-all royal memoir and a fly-on-the-wall Netflix documentary, but Prince Harry has shared there are more secrets to be shared. However, royal experts have claimed that we may hear them sooner than the Duke of Sussex, 40, may believe. He shared: 'My issue with Netflix is Harry has said there's stuff he's kept back that he hasn't put in the book, that he didn't put in the documentary. 'And he's never going to talk about it. 'If the Netflix deal is continuing, they're going to say, 'look, so much for behind the scenes at Polo and flower sprinkles, we actually want to know what else there is.'' When the Duke of Sussex released his 400-page Spare memoir, he claimed there were initially 800 pages written. He explained: "It could have been two books, put it that way. And the hard bit was taking things out. "But there are some things that have happened, especially between me and my brother, and to some extent between me and my father, that I just don't want the world to know. Because I don't think they would ever forgive me. 'Now you could argue that some of the stuff I've put in there, well, they will never forgive me anyway.' Royal Reporter Bronte Coy agreed that we could learn more royal secrets. She pointed out that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have years ahead of them to fund their new lavish lifestyle in California, with Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four. Harry and Meghan are the world's most boring and unprofitable couple - everything they do is so hilariously bad She added: 'They have a young family. They've got decades ahead of them needing to maintain this lifestyle. 'As you mentioned, it's a California lifestyle.' A-LIST LIFESTYLE The royal reporter added that the couple are 'by no means poor', thanks to Harry's inheritance from his great grandmother, the Queen Mother, and money from Diana's estate. However, she added: 'But their security costs, as you mentioned, I think it's like two million pounds a year. 'Their mortgage would be high. If the Netflix deal is continuing, they're going to say, 'look, so much for behind the scenes at Polo and flower sprinkles, we actually want to know what else there is Simon Viger 'These deals were big deals - the Netflix one, the Spotify one, which has been over I think for two years - and the new one that Megan would be on with a much smaller streaming service, it wouldn't be anything like those numbers, you'd have to assume, that they had with Spotify. 'But for all these reasons, I think that you are talking about huge overheads every year, and especially with staffing costs, and that has to be maintained. 'So I think you are looking at a huge amount of money every year that they're needing to spend.' 6 Experts have claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a lavish lifestyle to maintain Credit: Getty 6 The couple live in a massive nine-bedroom, 16-bathroom £12million mansion with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet Credit: Google Earth FUTURE REVELATIONS She added: 'So, yes, I think that you are looking at a scenario where maybe there will be more books. 'I don't know. We don't know what they'll do in the future.' Simon Viger said that he wishes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle success in their new post-royal life, following stepping down from duties in 2020. He added: 'I mean, they do have a lot of loyal fans, as we know, especially in America. 6 The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spilled secrets about the royals in their chat with Oprah Winfrey Credit: AFP 6 Experts say Netflix may wish Prince Harry to reveal more royal tidbits Credit: Splash 'So I'm sure they'll be able to monetize stuff for a long time. 'I hope it all works out. But I don't know how long you can keep stringing along some of those deals.' Along with Prince Harry's ventures, Meghan has also kept busy, including this year launching her As Ever brand and her Netflix cooking show, With Love, Meghan.
