Zenvo Is Making a Small Hypercar With a Naturally Aspirated V-10 Engine

Yahoo5 days ago
Zenvo's 1,850 brake horsepower, V-12 powered Aurora was one of the more pleasant surprises of 2023, a new hypercar with real aspirations. Now, the car maker says it's working on a smaller version, too, a 'junior hypercar' powered by a V-10 that might be a bit more accessible.
Zenvo doesn't have a prototype of this car that it can reveal, or even a name just yet, but the V-12 that the company is putting in the Aurora is versatile enough to slim down to a V-10 and possibly even a V-8. That has made Zenvo think of worlds beyond the hybrid Aurora, which is a would-be competitor to cars like the Koenigsegg Jesko.

'We're already working on a V-10 version for our junior hypercar,' Jens Sverdrup, Zenvo's chairman, told Top Gear, adding that the V-10 would likely be naturally aspirated, as opposed to the quad-turbo V-12 in the Aurora. 'The engine was designed from day one with future-proofing in mind, so it can be naturally aspirated, it can of course run as a non-hybrid too if need be. Emissions are the real issue though. I think it will be tough to meet the next set of requirements without running a hybrid system.'
A naturally aspirated V-10 version of the Aurora engine might make something in the realm of 800 horsepower, which would make this junior hypercar exist probably in the same general space as a car like the Lamborghini Huracán. A V-10 Zenvo is also, for now, merely a thing the company is working on, which means that it's a long way from execution. Zenvo still has to make sure the Aurora is a success at first, too.
In that regard, Zenvo seems on track, with the Aurora making its operational debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this month and charging up the hill. The company is almost explicitly pitting itself directly against Koenigsegg, the Swedish hypercar maker, which is a formidable task but reminiscent of the days when regular old supercar makers like Lamborghini and Ferrari would go head-to-head.
Zenvo, for example, says it is solely a hypercar company and won't be bothering with lesser vehicles like an SUV.
'There's no ambition to start doing family cars,' Sverdrup told Top Gear. 'Something like a Koenigsegg Gemera wouldn't be on our radar. But yes, we're planning a junior hypercar and hopefully we could make up to 500 of those, depending on what the brand and the market would take … I would love to make hypercars in new genres, too, so not an SUV but a hyper off-roader.'
That's big talk for a relative newbie on the scene, but that's what you have to say to get noticed. Delivery remains to be seen.

Stellantis to absorb $1.7 billion in tariff costs in back half of the year

Big Three automaker Stellantis (STLA) updated its first half financials after releasing preliminary figures last week, noting that President Trump's tariffs cost 1.5 billion euros ($1.73 billion) in 2025. Stellantis did however re-instate financial guidance for the year. Stellantis — which counts brands like Ram, Jeep, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo in its product portfolio — said it revenues in the first half of 2025 to come in at 74.3 billion euros ($86.13 billion), down 13% year over resulting in a net loss of 2.3 billion euros ($2.67 billion). Last year in the same period Stellantis reported 5.6 billion euros ($6.48 billion) in net profit. Stellantis said adjusted operating income (AOI) came in at 500 million euros ($579.6 million), with cash flows from operating activities slipping to a loss of 2.3 billion euros ($2.67 billion). With that said, Stellantis now projects new guidance for the second half of the year expects to see increased net revenues, low-single digit AOI profitability, and improved industrial free cash flow results. Stellantis said this assumes current tariff and trade rules in place as of July 29, 2025. Stellantis stock was down 4% in the pre-market. "2025 is turning out to be a tough year, but also one of gradual improvement. Signs of progress are evident when comparing H1 2025 to H2 2024, in the form of improved volumes, Net revenues, and AOI, despite intensifying external headwinds," new CEO Antonio Filosa said in a statement. Stellantis said last week that it absorbed approximately 300 million euros ($347.77 million) in tariff-related costs as well as loss of planned production in the first half of the year. Only two months ago, Stellantis selected Filosa, a 25-year veteran of the company and current Americas COO, as its new chief executive. His tenure began on June 23, with interim CEO John Elkann remaining as executive chair. Filosa has his hands full repairing the Stellantis business. For the second quarter, Stellantis said global deliveries fell to 1.447 million units from 1.537 million a year ago, down 6%. Sales tumbled in the US 25%, while the greater European region saw sales drop 6%. Stellantis has been trying to pare bloated inventories in the US with pricing incentives and production cuts, and those measures have helped. But the big question remains, at least in the US, of the effect of auto sector tariffs targeting Canada and Mexico production. Stellantis makes several vehicles in Canada and Mexico, where 25% sector tariffs apply to all imports, in addition to auto parts tariffs. Last quarter, Stellantis idled production at plants in Canada and Mexico as a result of tariffs. Read more: 5 ways to tariff-proof your finances A just-announced US-EU tariff deal could help Stellantis, but issues including unpopular vehicles and existing tariffs for Canadian and Mexican imports will still be a problem. Hacken & QANplatform Launch AI-Powered Threat Modeling Tool

Tallinn, Estonia--(Newsfile Corp. - July 29, 2025) - Hacken, a leading web3 security audit firm, and QANplatform, a quantum-resistant blockchain platform, today announced the release of a new open-source AI-powered blockchain threat modeling tool. The open-source AI tool can be customized by developers even for very complex web3 projects to enhance the speed and depth of security audits, initially proven effective in auditing QANplatform's unique QAN Virtual Machine (QVM) which allows developers to build smart contracts in any programming language on the blockchain. The open-source AI tool emerges in the era where established cybersecurity players are leveraging AI for generating security libraries like the OAuth 2.1 provider framework for authentication. The AI-powered blockchain threat modeling tool helps developers and auditors thoroughly discover the audit scope, plan threat/attack scenarios, write test cases, and execute tests. This enables audit scopes previously impossible or infeasible with human resources alone besides unlocking insights previously unattainable or impractical to achieve manually. The AI-powered blockchain threat modeling tool was born from a real-world challenge by auditing the revolutionary multi-language QVM of QANplatform. VMs serve as the engines behind blockchain operations enabling the execution of smart contracts. QANplatform's breakthrough is developing a VM capable of running smart contracts written in any programming language without restricting developers' freedom, unlike existing blockchain platforms, which can only run smart contracts written in 1-2 programming languages. During the QVM audit the AI tool helped draft plausible attack scenarios and evaluated over 2800 test cases uncovering 22 potential issues. Manual audits of this scale could take years and potentially miss critical edge cases. The tool provides automated tests to aid security-conscious development ultimately building more secure and reliable web3 applications. Dyma Budorin, Co-Founder and CEO of Hacken said: 'Hacken's custom-built AI agent was tailored specifically for QAN and delivered outstanding results. Our deep expertise in AI-driven offensive security allowed us to accelerate the audit while increasing its depth. This isn't a replacement for traditional audits but a powerful upgrade. We welcome QAN's decision to make it open source, as it gives the Web3 community a real-world example of how new technology can enhance security.' Bartosz Barwikowski, Lead Auditor at Hacken added: 'It was exciting and refreshing to audit such a revolutionary technology as QANplatform's QVM, an X86_64-based deterministic runtime and work on an AI tool which could successfully broaden the audit angles of such a complex technology.' Johann Polecsak, Co-Founder and CTO of QANplatform, stated: 'It is always a pleasure working with the team of Hacken. They will never settle for anything but the best tools and methodology for the scope, and if it doesn't exist they will build one! We are proud of the successful QVM audit and excited to release the open-source AI tool together and follow QANplatform's mission: Empowering anyone to build rapidly and securely on the blockchain.'
