Starlink is down today as Elon Musk's satellite internet service, Starlink, experienced a significant network outage on Thursday, leaving tens of thousands of users without connectivity, as per a report. The company also confirmed about the issue and said that it had a 'network outage' and highlighted that it was working on a solution to make it work, as per a CNBC report.
Where Is Starlink Not Working?
According to CNBC, the situation came to light after more than 60,000 users reported problems on Downdetector, a platform that tracks real-time outages across various services. While it is not immediately clear how widespread the outage is, Starlink users on social media X reported issues from Europe, the United States, Africa, Asia, and Australia, as reported by Euro News. Users on Down Detector also said that Starlink was not working in Colombia, Sardinia in Italy, Stockholm in Sweden, and New Hampshire in the US, as reported by Euro News.

The Starlink outage came just hours after Musk touted the company's growing direct-to-cellphone service, which he said was 'growing fast,' as reported by CNBC. T-Mobile recently launched its Starlink-powered T-Satellite service to the public, as per CNBC. That service, built in collaboration with T-Mobile, is designed to keep phones connected in remote areas without traditional cell tower coverage, according to the report. T-Mobile said that the "T-Satellite service was built to keep phones connected in places no carrier towers can reach,' as quoted by CNBC.

Meanwhile, social media users instantly reacted to Starlink's outage on X. One user wrote, "You owe us all a refund for today… better see a discount on that next bill or we will have issues you failed to provide your service," as per X post.
Another user had many questions to ask, "Configuration issue? Some single point of failure malfunctioning? Bad software update? Hacker attack? Google data center going down? Did I miss anything?," as per an X post.
A frustrated Starlink user wrote, "No information in this starlink status, plus i had to waist a half an hour looking for problems that could of been on my end. when there is a major outage they need to post on x quickly," as per X post.
While a user suggested that, "The app should have an alert about an outage...we shouldn't have to search for it," as per the X post. Another said, "It would be helpful to send an email or text message to all customers. Federal court upholds SEC ‘gag rule' in 3-0 ruling over free speech objections
A federal appeals court on Wednesday upheld the US Securities and Exchange Commission's so-called "gag rule," rejecting a claim it illegally silences defendants who want to criticise the regulator after settling civil enforcement a 3-0 decision, the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals said the rule was not unconstitutional on its face, but could violate the First Amendment depending on how it is rule, reflecting SEC policy dating to 1972, often requires settling defendants to say at least that they neither admit nor deny the regulator's allegations.
