Ponguleti hits back at KCR
Khammam (Nelakondapalli): Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy strongly criticised former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) during an awareness conference on the Bhu Bharati Act held in Surdepalli, Nelakondapalli mandal, Khammam district on Tuesday.
Responding to KCR's recent comments made in Warangal, the minister questioned, 'Is your stomach burning because the poor are eating affordable rice? Or because Indiramma is giving houses to the poor? Or perhaps because farmers received proper loan waivers?'
He suggested that KCR's frustration is coming because of the welfare initiatives under the current government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
The minister also took aim at the previous administration's Dharani Act, claiming it was implemented without due process and caused widespread hardship. 'For three and a half years, Dharani existed without proper procedures. Many people suffered, and none benefited,' he alleged.
Highlighting the Bhu Bharati Act as a corrective measure, he said it was developed after studying revenue laws across 18 states. Inputs from intellectuals, retired officials, and
senior collectors were considered to ensure justice for the poor. 'This Act is a product of careful reform, aimed at rectifying past mistakes and empowering the common people,' he stated.

Hyderabad: In a major development in the ongoing investigation into the Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project, former chief minister and BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao is scheduled to appear before the Justice PC Ghose Commission on Wednesday. Ahead of his deposition, KCR held a crucial meeting on Tuesday with former irrigation minister T Harish Rao at his Erravalli farmhouse. According to sources, Harish Rao—who appeared before the commission on June 9—engaged in a five-hour discussion with KCR on Monday to brief him on the commission's inquiries and to strategise appropriate responses. The two leaders met again on Tuesday to further deliberate on key issues expected to be raised during the hearing, fine-tune their replies, and chart both legal and political strategies. Reports suggest that the discussions also included a review of alleged deficiencies flagged in the vigilance and National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) reports related to the project's key barrages—Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla. The meeting has assumed considerable political significance, especially with former minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy also attending. KCR to depose today before panel probing Kaleshwaram row
Hyderabad As the inquiry into the 'collapsed' Medigadda barrage deepens with claims and contradictions by both the ruling Congress and BRS, former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will depose before the P.C. Ghose Commission on Wednesday. Amidst the confusion over the project's idea, shifting of location and discrepancies in permission dates and actual grounding of project, the spotlight is on KCR as he is the 'man behind the Kaleshwaram project'. The Congress government claims that contradicting statements made by former ministers Eatala Rajender, Tummala Nageswara Rao and T. Harish Rao on how the Medigadda barrage was conceived, approved, and executed, throw light on the deeper issues. Hornet's nest Finance Minister under BRS government and now BJP MP Mr. Rajender's claim that construction of the Medigadda barrage was taken up as per the decision of a Cabinet Sub-Committee has stirred up a hornet's nest. He apparently also claimed that the KLIP was approved by the Cabinet. But these claims were rebutted by current Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, who was part of the same sub-committee. He categorically denied that the panel had any role in approving the Medigadda barrage, and said that the GO granting administrative sanction for its construction was issued before the panel was even formed. Records reveal that on March 1, 2016, the GO was issued for the construction of Medigadda, and the Cabinet Sub-Committee was constituted two weeks later, on March 15, 2016, to study the re-engineering of irrigation projects. Mr. Nageswara Rao released these documents to support his claim that sanction was given much before the sub-committee was formed. Meanwhile, former Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao, who also deposed before the Commission, claimed that the Medigadda barrage was built on the recommendations of the Central Water Design (CWD) body and consultancy firm WAPCOS. However, Government sources reveal that on April 2, 2015, the Chief Engineer of the Irrigation Department wrote to the Principal Secretary requesting the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Medigadda. Subsequently, on April 13, 2015, the government issued a GO officially assigning WAPCOS the task of preparing the DPR for Medigadda. Pointing this out, the government now claims that the project appears to have been pre-decided at the highest level rather than driven by a consultancy recommendation. Now, KCR's deposition will be critical in determining the mismatch in the conflicting claims of Mr. Rajender, Mr. Nageswar Rao and Mr. Harish Rao. Some of the questions likely to be posed to him are: Why was the project site shifted from Tummidihatti to Medigadda?, Was there any Cabinet approval for the project?, Were there design or execution flaws flagged during construction?, Why were bills cleared before the performance tests, and what steps were taken after NDSA and Vigilance raised quality and structural concerns?

Harish, KTR tip KCR on KLIS probe at farmhouse huddle
Hyderabad: Senior leaders of Bharat Rashtra Samithi, including party's working president KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao,went to the farmhouse of BRS supremo K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday to apprise him of the observations made during proceedings of the ongoing inquiry by the PC Ghose Commission. The BRS chief KCR is slated to appear before the Kaleshwaram Commission on Wednesday. Before appearing before the panel, the BRS chief is likely to visit the party office Telangana Bhavan and hold discussions with senior leaders of the party and take along with him documents that may have to be submitted to the Commission. On Monday, immediately after appearing before the Commission at the BRKR Bhavan, Harish Rao, along with KTR, visited the farmhouse of KCR at Eravelli. According to sources, the BRS leaders briefed KCR about the outcome of the proceedings till date. Harish Rao shared what the commission had stressed during the questioning. Harish informed KCR that the Commission sought to know why the project site had to be shifted from Tummidihetti to Medigadda and that his response was that the Maharashtra government was not giving approval because of the submergence of many villages. He also stressed that it was the Central Water Commission (CWC) which had suggested exploring alternative sites in view of the lack of availability of water. Further, Harish Rao told the BRS chief that the Commission had asked for changing the reservoir locations of Sundilla and Annaram. He said that while the Congress leaders were terming the project as 'Kuleshwaram', the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had laid foundation stone for the Gandamalla project, which is dependent on water from the Mallannasagar project, a key component of Kaleshwaram. He said, 'Kaleshwaram is and will remain Telangana's lifeline. The people of Telangana understand its importance. No statement to the Commission was made orally without proof. All submissions, including Cabinet decisions, Water and Power Consultancy Services (India) Limited(WAPCOS) reports, and CWC letters, were placed on record.' The BRS leaders opined that Kaleshwaram was a collective decision of the cabinet and not that of any individual alone. After EatalaRajender and Harish, now it will be the turn of KCR to make his submissions. It will be interesting to see what questions the Commission would direct to the BRS chief on Wednesday. Party leaders said that KCR knew every minute detail of the project as he had reviewed its progress day in day out, including through footage from CCTVs.
