Joe Hortiz: Najee Harris doing better, no reason to rush anyone out there
At the time Harris went on the list, word was that it would be a short stay but General Manager Joe Hortiz didn't offer any timetable in an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio. Hortiz noted that the Chargers got to camp before other teams because of this week's Hall of Fame Game and that they'll give Harris the time he needs to get fully cleared to return.
'He's doing better every day,' Hortiz said. 'He's dealing with it, he's getting better. We're going to be cautious and precautious with it and let him get healthy. There's no rush, it's early. We came into camp early, we got a long preseason to go so there's no sense in rushing anyone out there.'
First-round pick Omarion Hampton is alone at the top of the running back depth chart with Harris off the field and a strong first impression for the rookie could change the outlook for Harris's role by the time the veteran is able to get back in action.

Isaac TeSlaa stuns D.J. Reed with highlight catch at Detroit Lions practice
Isaac TeSlaa stuns D.J. Reed with highlight catch at Detroit Lions practice originally appeared on The Sporting News Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa continues to turn heads this offseason. TeSlaa has routinely been a standout during training camp, and that has not changed in the Lions' three preseason contests, each of which have seen the Arkansas product shine. The Michigan native continued his red-hot summer at practice on Tuesday, when he reeled-in the "catch of the day" with cornerback D.J. Reed in coverage, leaving the veteran stunned. "Catch of the day: Rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa had a one-on-one rep with veteran cornerback D.J. Reed early in practice and TeSlaa made a terrific over the shoulder catch right at the pylon of the end zone with Reed in pretty good coverage," Tim Twentyman of wrote. "Even Reed couldn't believe the catch as he looked over at TeSlaa and asked him if he really caught it." It would appear that this is the catch. TeSlaa was one of the most surprising selections in the 2025 NFL draft, as not only was he not on anyone's radar in the third round, the Lions traded up to get him. So far, it looks like general manager Brad Holmes knew exactly what he was doing. TeSlaa had two catches for 46 yards in the Hall of Fame Game and has scored touchdowns in each of the last two exhibition contests. "He's playing wide receiver like how we like our guys to play," Holmes said to Kay Adams on the Up & Adams Show onMonday. "He's blocking, he's training in the run game. I know when you hear blocking in the run game from a wide receiver, it's like, 'Well, you've got to catch the football,' but that just shows a lot about the competitiveness and the desire of just a football player in general." "He started to catch up and he's started to understand the physicality it takes," Jared Goff said of TeSlaa. "He certainly has a chance to have a role in our offense and has done a great job getting better every day." With TeSlaa ascending and Tim Patrick having a quiet camp overall that has also seen him deal with injury, there is a thought that the rookie could steal some snaps away from the veteran sooner rather than later. At the very least, we should see TeSlaa getting some playing time early on in the season, and not just on special teams. Mekhi Becton back at practice for Chargers
There was a positive development for the Chargers offensive line on Tuesday. Reporters at the team's practice shared images of right guard Mekhi Becton in uniform and on the field with his teammates. Becton had missed the last several weeks of practice with an undisclosed injury and there was little indication from the team's coaches about when he'd back. The timing of Becton's return bodes well for the likelihood that he'll be in the lineup in Brazil against the Chiefs on the first Friday of the regular season. The Chargers signed Becton to a two-year contract after he started for the Eagles in their Super Bowl win over Kansas City. Assuming Becton is good to go, the only change to the Chargers' desired starting line will be the absence of left tackle Rashawn Slater. Slater is out for the season with a knee injury, so Joe Alt is moving over from right tackle and Trey Pipkins is in line to start next to Becton.

Former Oregon Duck Justin Herbert at center of dating rumors following pop star picture
Former Oregon Ducks quarterback is camera-shy, to say the least. From his time in Eugene with the Ducks to now, where he is among the best quarterbacks in the NFL with the Los Angeles Chargers, Herbert is not one to make a scene. He routinely ducks out of the way of cameras, goes the extra mile to stay as dull as possible, and rarely finds himself in the news for things off the field. However, Herbert has made quite a stir on social media to kick off the week, popping up in a photo with pop star Madison Beer at a filming session. The two were seen standing near each other, which in today's day and age is enough to spark speculation that they might be dating. It's quite rare for fans of Herbert to be discussing their favorite quarterback in this manner, focusing on anything outside of his play on the field. Still, his proximity to a star like Beer is notable, to say the least, especially in an era where Travis Kelce has seen his fame explode following his relationship with Taylor Swift. There has been no confirmation as to whether the two are in a relationship or merely just friends, but some internet detectives have uncovered the fact that Beer is liking posts of Herbert on the Chargers' Instagram, despite not following the Chargers' account. Neither Herbert nor Beer follows the other on Instagram. Thankfully, we are just a couple of weeks away from the NFL season starting, with Herbert and the Chargers taking on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in São Paulo, Brazil, to kick off the season on September 5 at 5 p.m. PT. Hopefully, that means that we can focus on what Herbert is doing on the football field, rather than off of it.
