Actress Vanessa Kirby reveals pregnancy at 'Fantastic Four' event
This might have been the best promotion for Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps .
English actress Vanessa Kirby plays a pregnant superhero in the upcoming film. And she revealed her pregnancy while attending pop-culture festival CCXP in Mexico City on May 31.
The 37-year-old showed off her baby bump while walking the red carpet at a panel event for First Steps , in which she plays Invisible Woman/Sue Storm.
The character's pregnancy was revealed in the trailer for the film. Sue Storm is the wife of Mr Fantastic/Reed Richards, played by Chilean-American actor Pedro Pascal.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps also stars English actor Joseph Quinn as Human Torch/Johnny Storm – the younger brother of Sue Storm – and American actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing/Ben Grimm. The movie opens at cinemas on July 24.
Kirby was seen cradling her baby bump in a short promotional video with her three co-stars in a post on Marvel's Instagram page on June 1.
The actress is known for playing Britain's Princess Margaret in Netflix series The Crown (2016 to 2023), and the White Widow in the films Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018) and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023).
Kirby is dating retired professional lacrosse player Paul Rabil, 39, who is president of the United States' Premier Lacrosse League.
They were romantically linked in October 2022, when British tabloid Daily Mail published photos of them stepping out together in New York.
The couple went public with their relationship in November 2023. Rabil posted a sweet tribute to her and shared photos of them on Instagram.
American celebrity gossip website Page Six reported in December 2024 that they were engaged after two years of dating.
Kirby previously dated English actor Callum Turner, her co-star in the film Queen & Country (2014). Meanwhile, Rabil was married to former lacrosse player Kelly Berger between 2014 and 2017, and dated Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez in 2021. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network

Japanese star convicted of indecent assault in Hong Kong
J-pop performer Kenshin Kamimura leaves the West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts after being convicted of indecent assault in Hong Kong on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025. - Photo: AP HONG KONG: A Hong Kong court on Wednesday (Aug 13) found J-pop artist Kenshin Kamimura guilty of indecent assault after he harassed a woman working as his interpreter at a restaurant earlier this year. Kamimura, 26, is a former member of the boy band ONE N'ONLY, which expelled him shortly after the allegation. Fans queued to get into court for hours before the hearing, and some broke down in tears upon learning Kamimura had been convicted. The court heard Kamimura touched the woman's thighs multiple times despite her objections, and invited her to go to the bathroom with him. Magistrate Peter Yu found he had assaulted her, adding his behaviour "clearly shows disrespect for women". The incident took place in March during a celebratory dinner, after a fan meet for which the woman had been working as an interpreter for Kamimura and others. The Japanese star was fined HK$15,000 (US$1,900). Kamimura, who is also known as an actor in the Japanese drama "Our Youth", hugged his court translator upon hearing he would be fined without facing jail time, media reports said. Kamimura got "what he deserved", Yu said, adding that "had the victim not refused to remain silent and courageously come forward, she would have suffered an unpleasant experience in silence". But ardent fans inside and outside the court were in tears. Chan, a 30-year-old screenwriter and fan who gave only her last name, said she had come from northern China to watch the court session. She told AFP before the verdict that the trial has had a negative impact on Kamimura's image, and had incited "public outbursts of vitriol against the artist". - AFP

SUPER JUNIOR Siwon Under Fire For Alleged Homophobia After Recent Controversial Actions
In recent years, K-pop fans have become increasingly critical of how idols approach LGBTQ+ topics. This scrutiny grows sharper when an idol has a history of controversy. Online communities are quick to call out behaviour they view as performative or dismissive, especially when it comes from someone with past accusations of homophobia or transphobia. That's exactly what happened with SUPER JUNIOR's (슈퍼주니어) Choi Siwon (최시원). During a recent concert in Tokyo, he had a brief on-stage interaction with NCT's (엔시티) Jaemin (나재민). While some fans saw the moment as harmless or even heartwarming, others didn't. For them, it brought Siwon's past back into focus and reignited long-standing concerns about where he truly stands on LGBTQ+ issues. At the 'SMTOWN LIVE 2025' concert on 10th August (Sunday), Siwon was seen holding the younger idol's hand as they spoke on stage. The brief moment quickly gained attention online. While many fans found the gesture sweet, others reacted differently. One viral tweet reignited backlash, calling Siwon a 'homophobe' and accusing him of being 'gay for pay' or interacting with someone of the same gender for fan service. This criticism isn't new because it actually draws from a history of controversy that spans over a decade. When Siwon was more active on Twitter, he often shared personal views that sparked debate. In one instance, he retweeted a pastor's statement claiming that gay marriage 'doesn't exist.' The message also supported Kim Davis, the American who notoriously refused to issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple. After facing widespread backlash, Siwon apologised in a series of tweets. He expressed regret and said he felt ashamed for sharing the post. In 2022, further backlash followed when a leaked message from Siwon on the fan messaging app Bubble was seen as transphobic. He had shared a meme based on a scene from the film 'Titanic' (1997), in which a character lies to save his life. In the edited version, Siwon replaced the dialogue with the phrase 'I'm trans', a move many saw as mocking transgender people. This incident added to a growing list of controversies, including Siwon's vocal support for conservative political figures like Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump, as well as his take on the Israel-Palestine conflict. Against this backdrop, his interaction with Jaemin has left many fans uneasy. Fans argue this isn't the first time Siwon has performed closeness with other male idols for attention, with many saying the interaction feels especially disingenuous given his history.
