Police search for gunman on black ATV after shots fired in south Melbourne neighborhood
Police are searching for a gunman on a black ATV who fired off several rounds in a south Melbourne neighborhood on May 8, prompting a precautionary shelter-in-place alert at Stone Magnet Middle School.
There were no immediate reports of any injuries or arrests.
"It's an active investigation; we believe it was between an ATV and a vehicle," said Sgt. Ben Slover, spokesperson for the Melbourne Police Department.
The incident was reported about 12:30 p.m. near a group of apartments near Lipscomb Street and University Boulevard. Officers searched the neighborhood, and requested a drone to assist with locating the ATV.
An investigation is ongoing.

Allegheny County police investigating shooting in McKeesport
