Ladwa (Haryana) [India], May 17 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday participated in the Tiranga Yatra rally held in Ladwa, organised in honour of the Indian armed forces and their recent action under Operation Sindoor.
Speaking at the event, CM Saini said, 'This was not a war, it was a revenge of the new India. Our forces did not just launch missiles but gave a message that has echoed in America and China as well.'
Highlighting the government's stance on cross-border terrorism, he added, 'This is the strong India of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this is the message our army has given. Whenever Pakistan has tried to give birth to terrorism, our forces have gone inside Pakistan and responded to it.'
'Prime Minister Modi has given the slogan that 'Now the time has come to destroy the remaining ground of terrorism,'' the Chief Minister Saini stated.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also praised the Indian armed forces for successfully carrying out Operation Sindoor and said that they displayed their bravery and valour and destroyed the terror sites in Pakistan.
'Under the leadership of PM Modi, the way Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force displayed their bravery and valour, they destroyed the terror sites and killed more than 100 terrorists....successfully carried out Operation Sindoor...In Uttarakhand, every person from a family is a soldier...all are hitting the streets to thank our Armed Forces,' CM Dhami told ANI.
He further said that Tiranga Shaurya Samman Yatra is not a mere rally; it is an opportunity to salute the Indian Armed Forces.
'Because of the strong policies and leadership of PM Modi, today against terrorism, we could carry out an important war...'Tiranga Shaurya Samman Yatra' is not a mere yatra, it is an opportunity to salute and honour the courage and bravery of the Indian Armed Forces,' he added.
Earlier today, CM Dhami led the 'Tiranga Shaurya Samman Yatra' in Nainital's Haldwani in honour of the Indian Armed Forces and the success of Operation Sindoor.
Yesterday, a meeting of the Council of Ministers was held in which a unanimous congratulatory resolution was passed to the Indian Army, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the Ministry of Defence on the unprecedented success of Operation Sindoor.
The resolution of the Council of Ministers said, 'Operation Sindoor reflects the success of the indomitable courage, immense valour and excellent strategic skills of the Indian Army. This campaign has emerged as a living example of India's sovereignty, security and self-confidence.'
The Council of Ministers also expressed confidence that this historic military operation will become a source of inspiration for generations to come and will always be marked as a golden chapter in Indian military history.
The BJP's 'Tiranga Yatra', which began on May 13, will continue till May 23. The BJP organised the 'Tiranga Yatra' in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Dibrugarh, Srinagar and Odisha.
The event has been organised to thank India's Armed Forces and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the success of Operation Sindoor.
Following the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people, including a Nepali national, were killed, the Indian forces have intensified their operation against terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
In retaliation for the terror attack, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, in which precision strikes destroyed terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK) and eliminated nearly 100 terror operatives at key bases in Pakistan. Among the targets were Bhawalpur, the headquarters of Jaish, and Muridke, a key training base of Lashkar.
Following the strikes, on May 10, an understanding of the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan was announced. (ANI)

ICDRI 2025: PM Modi outlines key global priorities to strengthen disaster resilience, early warning systems, coordination

The seventh year of the International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI), organised by the New Delhi-headquartered Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), was held on June 6 and 7 in Nice, France. This is the first time the conference was held in Europe with the CDRI as the co-chair. ICDRI 2025 is aligned with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Global Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) in Geneva, and third U.N. Oceans Conference (UNOC3), in Nice. This year's focus is on coastal communities, which contribute roughly $1.5 trillion to global GDP annually — a figure projected to rise to nearly $3 trillion by 2030. In addition, nearly 90% of goods moved globally are transported by sea. Addressing virtually, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 7 outlined key global priorities to strengthen disaster resilience, the need for early warning systems and coordination. Major disasters Highlighting the theme of the conference, 'Shaping a Resilient Future for Coastal Regions,' the Prime Minister underscored the vulnerability of coastal regions and islands to natural disasters and climate change. Citing recent disasters, including Cyclone Remal in India and Bangladesh, Hurricane Beryl in the Caribbean, Typhoon Yagi in Southeast Asia, Hurricane Helene in the United States, Typhoon Usagi in the Philippines, and Cyclone Chido in parts of Africa, he emphasised that these disasters had caused significant damage to human lives and property, reinforcing the need for resilient infrastructure and proactive disaster management. 'With its past experiences with devastating disasters, including the super-cyclone of 1999 and the tsunami of 2004, India has adapted and rebuilt with resilience, constructing cyclone shelters across vulnerable areas and contributing to the establishment of a tsunami warning system benefiting 29 countries,' Mr. Modi said. The CDRI is working with 25 Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to build resilient homes, hospitals, schools, energy systems, water security measures, and early warning systems. Mr. Modi talked about the importance of integrating disaster resilience courses, modules, and skill development programmes into higher education to build a skilled workforce equipped to tackle future challenges. 'There is a need for a global digital repository to document best practices and learnings from countries that have faced disasters and rebuilt with resilience. Disaster resilience requires innovative financing; we need to create actionable programmes to ensure developing nations have access to necessary funds as the third priority,' he added. On India's recognition of SIDS as Large Ocean Countries, the Prime Minister emphasised the need for special attention to their vulnerabilities. 'The construction of infrastructure that remain steadfast against time and tide is key; there is a need for resilience in development and with global efforts a strong and disaster-resilient future for the world can be built.' Welcoming African Union as a new member of CDRI, P.K. Mishra, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and co-chair of the CDRI, announced the African Union Commission as the newest member of the coalition. 'Fifty-four members from different countries have joined the CDRI and are bound by a common belief that resilience must be embedded in the very foundations of development.' Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, said, 'Resilient infrastructure is not just a policy option — it is a necessity for survival. We believe that resilience begins not at the shoreline but in the minds and systems we build.' Rachel Kyte, U.K. Special Representative for Climate, said, 'As climate-fueled disasters escalate, insurers are pulling out, raising rates, and narrowing coverage. It is a pressing global issue, especially urgent for developing economies.' Announcements at the conference included the awarding of research grants for 53 projects spanning 21 countries, as well as a call to action for accelerating infrastructure resilience in small island nations. The emphasis was on the urgent need for global collaboration and investment. About 37% of the world's population lives within 100 km of the coast, where the population density is twice the global average. While all coastal areas face growing challenges, SIDS are especially vulnerable because of their remoteness and isolation. CDRI Director General Amit Prothi said, 'Coastal resilience is essential for safeguarding lives, livelihoods, and economies. Being delivered in Europe for the first time, in partnership with the Government of France, the 7th edition of CDRI's annual conference will again foster inclusive dialogue and forge action-oriented partnerships to advance the cause of disaster-resilient infrastructure. Through our IRIS programme, we are supporting 24 projects across 25 SIDS, driving sustainable and inclusive infrastructure development.' CDRI was launched by Mr. Modi at the U.N. Climate Action Summit in September 2019 and is a major global initiative playing a leadership role in climate change and disaster resilience matters. CDRI released the working paper on 'Infrastructure Resilience in Small Island Developing States'. The paper provides an assessment of infrastructure risks in SIDS, offering policymakers guidance on multi-hazard threats, expected losses, and a resilience framework integrating financial, institutional, governance, nature-based, and technological solutions for sustainable adaptation.

'Go home': Local's response to pro-Khalistan parade in Canada goes viral

As the Khalistan movement continues in Canada, a video of a parade of Khalistan supporters in Vancouver made went viral on social media. In the video, posted by Canada-based investigative journalist Mocha Bezirgan, a local Canadian man was heard responding to the parade by stating 'no one cares.' This video comes after Bezirgan alleged that he was 'surrounded and threatened' by a group of Khalistan supporters, who also snatched his phone, while he filmed filming their weekend rally in downtown Vancouver. Along with Khalistan flags, a Pakistani flag was also spotted during the rally. In response to the rally, the local man was heard saying 'go home, no one cares.' The supporters in the video can also be seen carrying an effigy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi while chanting - 'Who killed Canadian citizens? Indian government.' In May 2025, India lodged strong protest with the Canadian High Commission after an anti-India parade was held in Toronto. During this parade, effigies of PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar were paraded. During these Khalsa day celebrations, Khalistan supporters also carried out floats with pro-Khalistan propaganda, pro-Pakistan banners and imagery targeting Indian leaders. The parade was condemned by several Indo-Canadian groups as well. In 2024, a float symbolising the assassination of Indira Gandhi was also carried out by Khalistan supporters. This parade was met with condemnation from the Canadian High Commissioner Cameron McKay. Due to the Khalistan movement in Canada, ties between India and Ottawa have also hit a snag. Last year, the rise in anti-India activities due to the killing of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, prompted India and Canada to carry out a tit-for-tat expulsion of diplomats. Tensions between India and Canada increased after the killing of Nijjar, as Khalistani supporters alleged the involvement of the Indian government. This allegation was then highlighted at a global stage after former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau accused the Indian government of carrying out covert operations on Canadian soil, including the killing of Nijjar. The Indian government has denied any involvement and called on Canada to share the 'evidence and credible allegations' they had against New Delhi.
