Starting lineup for the 67th Daytona 500
The starting lineup for the 67th Daytona 500 has been set — with a twist.
Originally slated for 40 cars, The Great American Race will have a bonus 41st driver in four-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves, who will make his NASCAR debut because of a new exemption for a world-class driver. Ineligible for points and money, the Trackhouse Racing driver will start alone in the 21st row.
Pole-sitter Chase Briscoe will lead the field to the green flag Sunday (2:30 p.m. ET, Fox) alongside Austin Cindric, who won the second Duel race after qualifying second.
Bubba Wallace, who won the first Duel qualifier, will start third alongside Erik Jones in the second row.

The manufacturer's iconic nameplate gets supercharged with the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid, only available overseas. But all hope is not lost. Nameplates hardly get any more prestigious than the Land Cruiser. Toyota's legendary SUV emerged from military prototypes used during the Korean War. And while the Land Cruiser has since evolved into one of the most luxurious vehicles on the road, it hasn't lost its reputation for durability and reliability, even if its context is decidedly more civilian than rugged now. Estimated to ship in September, a new Land Cruiser on the way will push the envelope even further, thanks to a hybrid powertrain that makes it the most powerful, responsive and efficient SUV to ever wear the iconic nameplate. Under the hood, the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid boasts a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine paired with a parallel hybrid system, bumping the combined output to a formidable 457 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque — more power than that of the diesel variant sold in several markets. Other features include a waterproofed battery area, Electric Power Steering and a built-in 1,500W AC inverter output, for drivers who do decide to take it off-grid. Now onto the bad news: this new high-end Land Cruiser isn't coming to the US, at least to start, with an initial launch set for the Middle East to coincide with the region's commitments to carbon neutrality with UAE Net Zero 2050. However, power doesn't come cheap, as the ultra-luxe trim represents the manufacturer's priciest SUV to date — and by quite the margin. With its best-in-class sound system, seats that massage and premium leather and wood treatments, the 2025 Lexus LX 700h starts north of $115,000 and up to $141,350 for the top trim. You Won't Believe What Makes the 2025 Mustang GTD Cost That Much
Earlier this week, Car and Driver first reported a leaked window sticker for a 2025 Mustang GTD submitted by the vehicle's owner, with the starting price reaching $327,960 after destination and gas guzzler charges. However, you may be curious to learn more about the exact features forming this exorbitant price tag, how it compares to competitors, and its track capabilities. We introduced you to the 2025 Mustang GTD on Thursday. Now, it's time for a deeper dive into this car's engineering, performance, and marketplace position. The 815-horsepower 2025 Mustang GTD's design emphasizes weight reduction, enhanced handling, and blazing speed with available forged magnesium wheels with a race-optimized strength-to-weight ratio, along with lightweight carbon fiber body panels, a carbon fiber driveshaft, and the available carbon fiber underbody aerodynamic tray. Even the titanium exhaust voicing the 5.2L V8 engine is ultralight, and handling benefits from front six-piston Brembo anti-lock brakes and 345 mm-wide rear high-performance summer road and track tires. Ford's 2025 Mustang GTD completed a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap in 6:57:685-the fifth-fastest time by a stock production sports car and only the sixth vehicle in its class to crack the iconic track's seven-minute lap barrier. The American automaker accomplished this feat through features like a dual-clutch, 8-speed rear transaxle connected to a carbon fiber driveshaft for significant power to pavement transfers and a near 50/50 front-to-rear weight distribution, helping it navigate the track's 73 turns and corners. Many of Nürburgring Nordschleife's turns generate high G-forces, but the 2025 Mustang GTD's short-long arm front suspension enhances lateral stiffness and tire/road alignment. Additionally, the GTD's dry sump oil system, the first-ever in a Mustang, optimizes performance by increasing oil capacity and reliability while reducing oil starvation under high G-forces. Ford complements these track-ready features with an aerodynamic rear wing for road-gripping downforce and front vents that reduce lift and drag. The 2025 GTD is masterful on the track, but its dual ride height also lends itself to surface streets. This Ford features Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve (DSSV) technology with an advanced suspension system that includes adaptive dampers, allowing ride heights to vary by nearly 40mm (1.57 inches) with the press of a button. Comparable 2025 Ford Mustang GTD rivals include Lamborghini's Huracán STO, starting at $344,778, McLaren's 750S coupe with a base MSRP of around $324,000, and Ferrari's 296 GTB, which sells from $346,950. Lamborghini's Huracán STO falls short of the Mustang GTD's 825 max horsepower at 630, and it's more focused on pure driving instead of track runs, but it's also lighter than its Ford counterpart. McLaren's 750S coupe falls shy of the Mustang GTD's horsepower at 740, but it offers a 0-60 mph time about 0.3 seconds faster than its competitor. Ferrari's 296 GTB gives the Mustang GTD the best run for its money in terms of horsepower at 819, but some may not prefer its hybrid powertrain. You wouldn't be wrong to label the 2025 Mustang GTD's price tag as eye-watering, and its cost rises significantly with added options. This Ford enters supercar territory with exotic materials, dynamic engineering, and a robust powertrain, but it's also a car you can enjoy both on and off the track.
