USA TODAY Sports ranks top college football QBs entering 2025: Where is Cade Klubnik?
The quarterback position is responsible for all but two Heisman Trophy winners since 2016, and 2025 could see another gunslinger added to the list after Travis Hunter, Colorado's exceptional two-way standout at wide receiver and defensive back, took home the award last year.
Clemson Tigers quarterback Cade Klubnik, Penn State's Drew Allar, LSU's Garrett Nussmeier, and South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers are among the top returning starters for 2025. There's also Texas' Arch Manning, set to begin his first season as the Longhorns' starter after two seasons behind Quinn Ewers.
On Monday, a panel of USA TODAY Sports college football experts unveiled their rankings of the top 25 college quarterbacks heading into the 2025 season by aggregate ballot.
The five-member panel of Paul Myerberg, Erick Smith, Eddie Timanus, Jordan Mendoza and Blake Toppmeyer gave Klubnik the edge as the No. 1 quarterback in the nation entering 2025 over Allar and Manning.
The panel concluded:
"In his second season at the controls, Klubnik's progress from his first year restored the explosiveness to the Clemson offense that had been missing since the Tigers were playing for national championships. Now with even more weapons at his disposal, he should be front and center in the Heisman discussion as the team makes another title push."
Klubnik threw for 3,639 yards and 36 touchdowns in 2024 while leading a resurgent Clemson program to its ninth ACC championship under coach Dabo Swinney. Under the new 12-team postseason format, the Tigers also made the College Football Playoff for the first time since 2020.
While no Clemson player has ever won the Heisman Trophy, Klubnik could change that in 2025.

Arozarena homers, scores 4 times as Mariners rout Tigers 15-7
DETROIT -- Randy Arozarena homered and scored four times as the Seattle Mariners defeated the Detroit Tigers 15-7 on Saturday. Arozarena singled and scored in the second, was hit by a pitch and scored on Luke Raley's homer in the third, and singled and scored in the seventh before hitting a two-run homer in the eighth. Tigers All-Star Casey Mize (9-3) allowed six runs in three innings, one day after the Mariners beat Detroit's other All-Star starter, Tarik Skubal. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead on Riley Greene's first-inning sacrifice fly, but Mize couldn't hold it. Dominic Canzone tied it with an RBI single in the second before the Mariners scored five runs in the third. Cole Young led off with a double and scored on J.P. Crawford's single. Julio Rodríguez hit into a force at second, stole second and took third on catcher Jake Rogers' throwing error. Cal Raleigh's sacrifice fly made it 3-1. After Mize hit Arozarena, Jorge Polanco doubled before Raley's fourth homer of the season made it 6-1. Mariners starter George Kirby (4-4) earned the win after allowing four runs on five hits over five innings. He struck out six and walked three. The start of the game was delayed 1:39 by rain. After Zach McKinstry's two-run homer in the eighth, the Tigers loaded the bases with one out. Matt Brash came out of the bullpen to retire Gleyber Torres and Wenceel Pérez to keep the margin at four runs. Torres doubled in the first inning to extend his on-base streak to a career-high 24 games. He matched Kerry Carpenter's 24-game streak in 2023 for the longest streak by a Tiger since Jeimer Candelario had a 29-game run in 2021. The teams finish the three-game series on Sunday afternoon, with RHP Jack Flaherty (5-9, 4.70 ERA) pitching against RHP Logan Gilbert (2-3, 3.88).

PSG vs. Chelsea Odds, Best Bets: PSG Heavy Favorites In Club WC Final
PSG and Chelsea meet in the FIFA Club World Cup Final on Sunday at 3 p.m. Eastern, with the Ligue 1 side heavily favored to capture the CWC trophy. PSG and Chelsea meet in the FIFA Club World Cup Final on Sunday at 3 p.m. Eastern, with the Ligue 1 side heavily favored to capture the CWC trophy. Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Sunday's FIFA Club World Cup Final features two of the biggest clubs in the world in terms of budget and star power. But as we'll detail below, oddsmakers see PSG as massive favorites over Chelsea on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. Given the run PSG is on under Manager Luis Enrique, its status as the betting favorite in this match makes sense, to some extent. But are oddsmakers overlooking Chelsea by listing them at longer than 2-to-1 odds to raise the trophy? At its best, PSG is certainly dominant, and it doesn't help Chelsea's chances that they could be missing multiple key players. For as impressive as PSG have been in recent months, though -- including in their dominant CWC semifinal win over Real Madrid -- we saw in their group stage loss to Botafogo and in their hard-fought quarterfinal win over Bayern Munich that they're not necessarily untouchable. How to Watch PSG vs. Chelsea Club WC Final Kickoff : 3 p.m. ET : 3 p.m. ET TV: TBS, DAZN (streaming) PSG vs. Chelsea Club World Cup Final Odds Below are the odds from three top sportsbooks in the two most popular markets for soccer matches: three-way moneyline and match winner. PSG vs. Chelsea Three-Way Moneyline Odds The DraftKings, FanDuel and bet365 three-way moneyline odds below apply to this afternoon's result after 90 minutes, plus stoppage time. In this market, it doesn't matter whether the winner comes out on top in 90 minutes, extras or PKs; all that matters is who moves on. DK FD bet365 PSG -330 -330 -334 Chelsea +250 +265 +240 PSG vs. Chelsea Club WC Final Betting Analysis In terms of budget, for what that's worth, these teams are on relatively equal footing. It's Chelsea, in fact, who have the higher squad value, per Transfermarkt (Chelsea: 1.26 billion euros, PSG: 1.12 billion euros). But in the last few months, no one has looked capable of beating PSG at its best. It's especially hard to imagine Chelsea pulling off this upset after it played five of its six matches in this competition against opponents outside Europe. Chelsea could only beat the teams it drew on its side of the bracket, but the quality of competition on Sunday will take a massive leap from the quarterfinal and semifinal contests against Brazilian clubs Palmeiras and Fluminense. PSG, on the other hand, has outscored its Club World Cup opposition 16-to-1. At this point, it's also clear that this club did not take Botafogo seriously in a shocking 1-0 loss back in group play. Against quality competition including Atletico Madrid in group play (PSG 4, Atleti 0), Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals (PSG 2, Bayern 0) and Real Madrid in the semis (PSG 4, RM 0), this young PSG team has looked like a potential dynasty. Forward Ousmane Dembele, right back Achraf Hakimi, midfielder Fabian Ruiz, center back Marquinhos and keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma are all proven veterans, but this lineup also features a number of young stars. Between forwards Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (24), Desire Doue (20) and Bradley Barcola (22) and standout midfielders Vitinha (25) and Joao Neves (20), PSG have a chance to remain dominant for years to come. Chelsea has plenty of promising young talent of its own, including Cole Palmer up top, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in the midfield and Levi Colwill at center back, but this team is yet to put it all together under Manager Enzo Maresca, who was hired last summer. PSG vs. Chelsea Lineup News, Expected XIs PSG are without starting center back Willian Pacho and backup defender Lucas Hernandez. Both remain suspended after being issued red cards in their team's quarterfinal win over Bayern Munich. If the semifinal blowout of Real Madrid was anything to go by, the PSG back line featuring 21-year-old Lucas Beraldo in place of Pacho will hardly be a glaring weakness. For Chelsea, right back Reece James missed the CWC quarterfinal win over Palmeiras and came off the bench in the semifinal clash with Fluminense, but is expected to be fit for Sunday's final. The other injury concern for Chelsea is midfielder Moises Caicedo, who is dealing with an ankle injury. James will most likely start this one, but I'm not convinced Maresca will risk starting Caicedo in the midfield. If he does opt to bring Caicedo off the bench, expect 21-year-old Andrey Santos to start in Caicedo's place. PSG Expected Lineup: Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Beraldo, Nuno Mendes; Joao Neves, Vitinha, Fabián Ruiz; Dembélé, Doué, Kvaratskhelia. Chelsea Expected Lineup: Sanchez; James, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella; Santos, Fernandez; Neto, Palmer, Joao Pedro; Delap PSG vs. Chelsea Prediction, Best Bets With Caicedo and Romeo Lavia at full strength next to Fernandez in the midfield, Chelsea would likely have a chance of going toe-to-toe with the PSG trio of Ruiz, Vitinha and Neves. But whether it's a somewhat hobbled Lavia or Santos alongside Fernandez, I expect the PSG midfield to dominate once again after overwhelming the Madrid trio of Arda Guler, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Jude Bellingham. I don't necessarily expect PSG to score as early and often against Chelsea as it did in the semis, when it jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 25 minutes. I can't quite disagree with the oddsmakers on this one being all PSG, though. The safe way to bet this one is to take Paris Saint Germain to lead at both halftime and the full-time whistle, which is available at plus-money at DraftKings. For a bigger swing, consider a small play on PSG to score more than 2.5 goals in 90 minutes at 2-to-1 odds. This team's haul of 10 goals (by six different players) in three knockout games in this tournament is staggering, but there has been nothing fluky about it. Per FotMob, PSG piled up 7 big chances and 2.91 xG vs. Inter Miami; 5 big chances and 1.98 xG vs. Bayern Munich; and 5 big chances and 2.54 xG vs. Real Madrid. Browns rookie RB Quinshon Judkins arrested, charged with battery in Florida
Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins was arrested in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Saturday, July 12. According to the arrest report from the Broward County Sheriff's Office, Judkins was arrested and faces a single charge under Florida statute 784.03, relating to "touch or strike/battery/domestic violence." There is no bond amount set for Judkins, and his charge status is pending trial, according to police records. Per the Florida criminal code, Judkins faces a charge of battery, in which a person "actually and intentionally touches or strikes another person against the will of the other" — typically a first-degree misdemeanor that carries a penalty of a "definite term of imprisonment not exceeding one year" and a $1,000 fine. Selected with the 36th overall pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Browns, Judkins was one of 14 Ohio State players drafted back in April. A Browns spokesperson told the Akron Beacon Journal, part of the USA TODAY Network, the the team was "aware and gathering information" about Judkins' arrest. In his lone season at Ohio State, Judkins was part of a one-two punch running back group with TreVeyon Henderson, helping lead the Buckeyes to their first College Football Playoff national championship since 2014 with a 34-23 win over Notre Dame. In 16 games this past season for the Buckeyes, Judkins ran for 1,060 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns on 194 carries, adding 161 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns on 22 receptions. He ran for 100 yards and two touchdowns in the national championship game. Across his three seasons at Ole Miss and Ohio State, Judkins ran for a combined 3,785 yards and 45 touchdowns. Judkins is scheduled to report to his first NFL training camp on Friday, July 18 with the rest of the Browns' rookies, per
