Supercross 2025 results: 250 highlights, finishing order, reaction at Daytona, Haiden Deegan wins

NBC Sports03-03-2025

RJ Hampshire survived the third red flag in three Monster Energy Supercross 250 East rounds and held Tom Vialle at bay in Round 8 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. It was his first win on the track in his home state.
Scoring only four points in the season-opener in Tampa, Hampshire is slowly leaving the basement. He climbed to fourth in the standings with 25 points awarded for the victory. Only one marker stands between him and Chance Hymas in third. There is still a way to go to catch the red plate holder, Max Anstie, but Hampshire has it in his sights.
Fans had the opportunity to watch Hampshire and defending Daytona winner Tom Vialle battle for the win. It was a matchup expected since Hampshire needed to switch coasts because of an off-season wrist injury and promises to be one of the most compelling storylines of 2025.
Seth Hammaker rebounded from a disappointing round in Arlington, when he finished 17th overall, to take the final spot on the podium. Making the move into third in Daytona, he executed a thrilling pass through the air on Chance Hymas. Daytona used a split sand lane to allow riders a passing zone, but Hammaker and Hymas wanted the same line with three laps remaining.
Hymas was denied the podium, but a fourth-place finish was a season-best for the rider still recovering from injury. Consistent sixth-place results at Tampa and Detroit place him third in the 250 East standings.
Maximus Vohland rounded out the top five with his best performance of 2025. He struggled in Tampa with a 21st, barely cracked the top 10 in Detroit with a ninth, and was fifth at Daytona.
Levi Kitchen had a solid run before a Lap 5 crash. He was riding third and misjudged a jump along the frontstretch straight. Kitchen was evaluated at the infield medical center and then transported to a local hospital where he was found to have suffered a broken collarbone.

High Point MX betting, predictions, odds, picks, lines: Aaron Plessinger is a compelling dark horse

Jett Lawrence's betting odds are becoming increasingly prohibitive after scoring overall wins in the first three rounds of the 2025 Pro Motocross season on the strength of five moto wins in six starts. In terms of overall victories, he's won all but one round he's entered. The result is that his raw opening odds are -353 for the outright win this week and -2400 to stand on the overall podium. One would be hard-pressed to quibble over those odds, but there were signs that several riders in the field closed the competition gap in Colorado last week. Aaron Plessinger briefly passed Jett for the lead in the second half of Moto 1, Jett did not take the lead in Moto 2 until the halfway point, and Eli Tomac closed the distance on him for several laps. If either of those riders eliminates mistakes in the next few races while Jett is still recuperating from his torn ACL, bettors could have a profitable day. If Jett can be beaten, it could lead to a snowball effect. Short of an injury, it seems unlikely that anyone will be able to consistently finish ahead of Jett in the final eight rounds of competition, and that is reflected in his championship odds of -757. Jett currently has a points lead equivalent to one full moto (25 points), which translates to 1.6 points per moto over the next 16 races. But Jett did suffer an injury last year that kept him from winning the championship, so bettors need to pay attention to the championship odds for his closest rivals. Tomac's line expanded from +381 entering the Thunder Valley Nationals in Lakewood, Colorado, to +511 this week. The remainder of the field is more than 11/1 to take the title. Tomac (+274) remains the most likely rider to beat Jett for an overall win. He's riding well enough this season to change his mind about retirement, and rumors were all but confirmed last week in the post-race news conference that he will move from Yamaha to KTM as a teammate to Plessinger and Chase Sexton in 2026 (to clear the way for Haiden Deegan to graduate into the 450 class). Unfortunately, Jett's supremacy is so great that it forces riders into mistakes. Tomac rushed a corner in Moto 2 of the Thunder Valley Nationals while attempting to catch Jett and crashed. Plessinger (+1900) is brimming with confidence. When he says it's only a matter of time before he scores an overall win, one cannot help but realize he fully believes it. Plessinger has come tantalizingly close to winning his first 450 moto twice in three rounds. When he ticks that off his wish list, he could conceivably win the overall in the same round. He's worth modest bets each until he ends his streak of moto top-fives. Hunter Lawrence (+862) has lower odds than Plessinger, despite not being as consistently fast. Hunter is scoring overall top-fives with consistency that adds points to his total without making him a serious threat to win the overall. Sleep on Hunter until he begins challenging for moto podiums again. Given their relative performances, Plessinger and Hunter have been matched up in a head-to-head wager. Hunter is favored at -121, while Plessinger is practically even money at -109. Reid Taylor to make professional debut in High Point Nationals on a 250

Reid Taylor, 21, will make his American professional dirt bike debut in the High Point Nationals this week in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania. Originally scheduled to debut in the 250 East division of the Monster Energy Supercross season, Taylor underwent minor surgery that delayed his start. Instead of heading home to his native Australia after the surgery, Taylor remained in the United States and relocated to the ClubMX Training Facility in Chesterfield, South Carolina, to maximize his recovery. Taylor's Supercross credentials include the 2023 and 2024 Australian Junior Supercross Championships as well as the 2024 Indian Supercross Championship, so it was an easy decision to tag him as Devin Simonson's replacement when that rider was injured late last year. 'I genuinely appreciate the opportunity to race for the team at High Point,' Taylor said in a news release. 'It wasn't in the plans, but it is definitely something that I want to do. Being at ClubMX on a full-time basis has changed the way I go about racing. The intensity, structure and focus are something that has been very beneficial to me. These guys are 'all in' and I want to return the favor by representing them the best way possible.' Taylor's High Point start is the only motocross race on his schedule for now, as Taylor needs to return to Australia to honor his visa requirements. He will return to the US later in the summer. 'Reid has fit right into our program,' said ClubMX team owner Brandon Haas. 'He follows everything we have asked him to do, and the results show it. We had a spot available for High Point and our organization has always been about giving riders a chance, so it only made sense to follow through on the idea. I discussed with the team and they were all in favor of it too, so this decision will be good for everyone.' Motocross 2025 250 results, highlights, finish at Thunder Valley: Chance Hymas sweeps

For the third consecutive race, a rider swept the moto wins as another finished second in both, but in a twist, it was Chance Hymas with the pair of wins on his way to the overall victory at Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Lakewood, Colorado. In addition to sweeping the motos, Hymas was fastest in both qualification sessions, holeshotted both motos, and led every lap of the round to score a perfect weekend. This was his second overall Pro Motocross victory, and it was starkly different from his first, when Hymas finished 4-1 last year in the RedBud Nationals, narrowly beating Ty Masterpool. Click here for a recap of Thunder Valley Hymas' domination put an end to Haiden Deegan's perfect season in Moto 1. The box score showed Deegan 45.677 seconds behind Hymas at the end of Moto 1, but that does not tell the whole story. At the halfway point, Deegan posted his fastest lap of the race with a 2:13.091, which was 1.5 seconds quicker than the leader, Hymas. He continued to close the gap until he had the leader in sight, but there was a cost to that speed. Deegan's bike began to smoke, and he nearly fell into the clutches of Garrett Marchbanks and Masterpool on the final lap. Deegan finished second in Moto 2 as well for second overall. After finishing eighth in Moto 1, Levi Kitchen did not believe he had a shot at the overall podium. He admitted as much in the post-race news conference, but riders dig deep when they are challenged, and Kitchen scored a hard-fought third-place finish in Moto 2. Relive Moto 1 On the opposite side of the coin, Marchbanks must have liked his chances for the overall podium after finishing third in Moto 1. As well as that race treated him, Moto 2 was the polar opposite, and Marchbanks replicated his teammate Kitchen's first race effort of eighth. Despite earning the same number of points, Marchbanks was pushed back to fourth via the tiebreaker. Every position matters. Tom Vialle demonstrated consistency in both motos, finishing sixth in the first race and fifth in Moto 2. In the closing laps of the second race, he was embroiled in a battle with Jo Shimoda for fourth. Had he secured the position, he would have earned the same amount of points as Kitchen and Marchbanks to secure the overall podium. Shimoda had a tall hill to climb after finishing ninth in Moto 1. His fourth-place finish in the second race elevated him to sixth overall.
