Companies embark on clean-slate deployments as part of digital transformations for efficiency, competitiveness, ISG Provider Lens™ report says
SYDNEY, April 23, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A growing number of enterprises in Asia Pacific are adopting SAP S/4HANA, especially in greenfield implementations, according to a new research report published today by Information Services Group (ISG) (Nasdaq: III), a global AI-centered technology research and advisory firm.
The ISG Provider Lens™ SAP Ecosystem report for Asia Pacific finds that the region is becoming a growth market for SAP, with many companies implementing S/4HANA as part of larger digital transformations. Research by ISG has found that global enterprise S/4HANA adoption has been relatively cautious and slow. Most of the growth in Asia represents greenfield projects, in which organizations build completely new SAP implementations on S/4HANA. This is especially true in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region, ISG says.
"SAP is at the forefront of digital transformation in Asia Pacific," said Michael Gale, partner, ISG. "Major enterprises across the region are embracing S/4HANA as they move to the cloud to increase operational efficiency and maintain competitive advantage."
Cloud use is gaining momentum in Asia Pacific as companies seek more flexible, scalable infrastructure to respond to market changes, the report says. Most prefer private clouds, except in Australia and New Zealand, where public cloud adoption is slightly more prevalent, the report says. This trend has created many opportunities for greenfield SAP implementations, which allow companies to begin with a clean slate as they deploy S/4HANA.
Companies in Asia Pacific are focusing on transforming systems from the ground up to meet modern business requirements and integrate advanced technologies, ISG says. Manufacturing still dominates the SAP landscape in the region, but there are signs of strong growth in other sectors, including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, retail and energy.
Many Asia Pacific enterprises are carrying out deployments through the RISE with SAP and GROW with SAP programs, the report says. These allow organizations to tailor their cloud strategies while benefiting from scalability, cost optimization and innovation. Demand for managed cloud services for SAP ERP is also rising as companies seek to optimize cloud operations while staying focused on business goals.
Many enterprises in the region are embracing SAP Application Management Services (AMS), especially for AIOps systems that can resolve issues without human intervention, ISG says. Midsize enterprises in the region are adopting SAP solutions that include generative AI tools for streamlining processes, automating routine tasks and improving decision-making.
"Though Asia Pacific is diverse, SAP adoption is on the upswing in most markets," said Jan Erik Aase, partner and global leader, ISG Provider Lens Research. "Enterprises are engaging service providers that understand their local cultures and regulatory regimes to build SAP environments for sustainable growth."
The report also examines other SAP trends in Asia Pacific, including specific adoption patterns in India, ASEAN and other parts of the region.

A Look At The Intrinsic Value Of Thai Beverage Public Company Limited (SGX:Y92)

The projected fair value for Thai Beverage is S$0.52 based on 2 Stage Free Cash Flow to Equity With S$0.47 share price, Thai Beverage appears to be trading close to its estimated fair value The ฿0.63 analyst price target for Y92 is 21% more than our estimate of fair value Does the June share price for Thai Beverage Public Company Limited (SGX:Y92) reflect what it's really worth? Today, we will estimate the stock's intrinsic value by estimating the company's future cash flows and discounting them to their present value. This will be done using the Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) model. Before you think you won't be able to understand it, just read on! It's actually much less complex than you'd imagine. We would caution that there are many ways of valuing a company and, like the DCF, each technique has advantages and disadvantages in certain scenarios. Anyone interested in learning a bit more about intrinsic value should have a read of the Simply Wall St analysis model. AI is about to change healthcare. These 20 stocks are working on everything from early diagnostics to drug discovery. The best part - they are all under $10bn in marketcap - there is still time to get in early. We're using the 2-stage growth model, which simply means we take in account two stages of company's growth. In the initial period the company may have a higher growth rate and the second stage is usually assumed to have a stable growth rate. To begin with, we have to get estimates of the next ten years of cash flows. Where possible we use analyst estimates, but when these aren't available we extrapolate the previous free cash flow (FCF) from the last estimate or reported value. We assume companies with shrinking free cash flow will slow their rate of shrinkage, and that companies with growing free cash flow will see their growth rate slow, over this period. We do this to reflect that growth tends to slow more in the early years than it does in later years. Generally we assume that a dollar today is more valuable than a dollar in the future, and so the sum of these future cash flows is then discounted to today's value: 2025 2026 2027 2028 2029 2030 2031 2032 2033 2034 Levered FCF (THB, Millions) ฿44.2b ฿39.1b ฿40.9b ฿22.4b ฿19.8b ฿18.4b ฿17.6b ฿17.1b ฿17.0b ฿17.0b Growth Rate Estimate Source Analyst x4 Analyst x4 Analyst x4 Analyst x1 Est @ -11.47% Est @ -7.32% Est @ -4.42% Est @ -2.38% Est @ -0.96% Est @ 0.04% Present Value (THB, Millions) Discounted @ 7.9% ฿41.0k ฿33.6k ฿32.5k ฿16.5k ฿13.6k ฿11.7k ฿10.3k ฿9.3k ฿8.6k ฿8.0k ("Est" = FCF growth rate estimated by Simply Wall St)Present Value of 10-year Cash Flow (PVCF) = ฿185b After calculating the present value of future cash flows in the initial 10-year period, we need to calculate the Terminal Value, which accounts for all future cash flows beyond the first stage. For a number of reasons a very conservative growth rate is used that cannot exceed that of a country's GDP growth. In this case we have used the 5-year average of the 10-year government bond yield (2.4%) to estimate future growth. In the same way as with the 10-year 'growth' period, we discount future cash flows to today's value, using a cost of equity of 7.9%. Terminal Value (TV)= FCF2034 × (1 + g) ÷ (r – g) = ฿17b× (1 + 2.4%) ÷ (7.9%– 2.4%) = ฿315b Present Value of Terminal Value (PVTV)= TV / (1 + r)10= ฿315b÷ ( 1 + 7.9%)10= ฿147b The total value, or equity value, is then the sum of the present value of the future cash flows, which in this case is ฿332b. To get the intrinsic value per share, we divide this by the total number of shares outstanding. Compared to the current share price of S$0.5, the company appears about fair value at a 10% discount to where the stock price trades currently. Valuations are imprecise instruments though, rather like a telescope - move a few degrees and end up in a different galaxy. Do keep this in mind. Now the most important inputs to a discounted cash flow are the discount rate, and of course, the actual cash flows. Part of investing is coming up with your own evaluation of a company's future performance, so try the calculation yourself and check your own assumptions. The DCF also does not consider the possible cyclicality of an industry, or a company's future capital requirements, so it does not give a full picture of a company's potential performance. Given that we are looking at Thai Beverage as potential shareholders, the cost of equity is used as the discount rate, rather than the cost of capital (or weighted average cost of capital, WACC) which accounts for debt. In this calculation we've used 7.9%, which is based on a levered beta of 0.856. Beta is a measure of a stock's volatility, compared to the market as a whole. We get our beta from the industry average beta of globally comparable companies, with an imposed limit between 0.8 and 2.0, which is a reasonable range for a stable business. See our latest analysis for Thai Beverage Strength Debt is well covered by earnings. Dividends are covered by earnings and cash flows. Weakness Earnings growth over the past year underperformed the Beverage industry. Dividend is low compared to the top 25% of dividend payers in the Beverage market. Opportunity Annual revenue is forecast to grow faster than the Singaporean market. Current share price is below our estimate of fair value. Threat Debt is not well covered by operating cash flow. Annual earnings are forecast to grow slower than the Singaporean market. Whilst important, the DCF calculation ideally won't be the sole piece of analysis you scrutinize for a company. DCF models are not the be-all and end-all of investment valuation. Instead the best use for a DCF model is to test certain assumptions and theories to see if they would lead to the company being undervalued or overvalued. For example, changes in the company's cost of equity or the risk free rate can significantly impact the valuation. China Private Factory Gauge Plunges to Weakest in Over Two Years

(Bloomberg) -- China's manufacturing sector had its worst slump since September 2022, according to a private survey, as higher US tariffs took a toll on smaller exporters despite a truce in the trade war with the US. Billionaire Steve Cohen Wants NY to Expand Taxpayer-Backed Ferry Where the Wild Children's Museums Are The Economic Benefits of Paying Workers to Move Now With Colorful Blocks, Tirana's Pyramid Represents a Changing Albania At London's New Design Museum, Visitors Get Hands-On Access The Caixin manufacturing purchasing managers' index fell to 48.3 last month from 50.4 in April, according to a statement released by Caixin and S&P Global on Tuesday, well below the 50 mark separating expansion from contraction. The figure was below every estimate in a Bloomberg survey of analysts, whose median was 50.7. 'Manufacturing supply and demand declined, dragged by overseas demand,' Wang Zhe, senior economist at Caixin Insight Group, said in a statement. 'The downward pressure on the economy has significantly intensified compared to preceding periods.' The results, based on a poll conducted May 12-21, were far weaker than the official PMI reading released Saturday, which showed manufacturing contracted less thanks to the reprieve on tariffs. The National Bureau of Statistics typically conducts its surveys between the 22nd and 25th of every month. The divergence highlights the disproportionate damage to small- and medium-sized Chinese companies from the trade war started by US President Donald Trump, according to Becky Liu, head of China macro strategy at Standard Chartered Bank. The impact from US tariffs 'is mostly on smaller exporters with a hit to employment, while a direct impact on large corporations and overall exports will likely be more limited given their much more diversified business profiles,' Liu said. 'The additional slowdown in the global economy — due to policy uncertainties in the US on top of trade policies — will further dent external demand, and will likely lead to some further weakness in SMEs' exports ahead.' What Bloomberg Economics Says... 'The May reading on the Caixin manufacturing PMI, which showed a surprise — and sharp — drop into contraction could be another misleading signal. It's hard to explain it otherwise — high frequency-indicators point in the other direction. Technical factors in the survey – a smaller sample relative to the official PMI and different methodology for seasonal adjustments — may be at play.' — Chang Shu and Eric Zhu. For full analysis, click here The picture painted by the more export-oriented Caixin survey, offers another glimpse of how factories adjusted in the initial aftermath of the trade ceasefire, after China and the US agreed to reduce tariffs for 90 days beginning May 14. A renewed fall in new orders accompanied a decline in manufacturing output, according to the report. Companies reduced their purchasing activity and cut staffing levels, although sentiment toward future output improved, it said. The prospects for manufacturing in the months ahead are still in question given an uncertain export outlook, and especially as tensions rose again in recent days between the world's two biggest economies. The economy remains under pressure from sluggish domestic demand. The Caixin results have tended to be higher than those from the official poll over the previous year as exports stayed strong. The two surveys cover different sample sizes, locations and business types, with the private poll focusing on small and medium-sized firms in the non-state sector. 'The trade environment remains highly uncertain,' said Raymond Yeung, chief economist for Greater China at Australia & New Zealand Banking Group Ltd. 'The key remains on property, which is still sluggish with no sign of recovery.' --With assistance from James Mayger and Fran Wang. (Updates with analyst comments starting in fifth paragraph.)
