Marcos to St. Timothy: Explain failed flood control project in Bulacan
This, as Marcos conducted a site inspection of the Rehabilitation of the River Protection Structure following his revelation last that Bulacan province has the most flood control projects, with 668 projects.
''St. Timothy ang kontratista dito kaya titingnan natin, kailangan pasagutin natin kung bakit ganito ginawa nila... mas mabuti pa dapat pumunta sila rito, makita nila gaano kahirap ang buhay na binigay nila sa mga kababayan natin,'' a furious Marcos said.

GMA News Online asked St. Timothy for comment on the President's remarks but it has yet to reply as of posting time.
Marcos, meanwhile, said he has learned that no dredging or desiltation has happened in the area as part of the flood control project.

COA orders fraud audit on Bulacan flood control projects
The Commission on Audit (COA) has ordered a fraud audit of the flood control projects in the Bulacan province, which was hit by the recent floods, in a bid to seek accountability for failed projects across the country. Under a memorandum ordered by COA chairperson Gamaliel Cordoba, all supervising auditors and audit team leaders of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) District Offices in Region 3 are mandated to submit all relevant documents necessary for the fraud audit. They are also ordered to ensure their availability to assist the fraud audit teams at any time during the audit. 'Given the critical issues raised by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. regarding the implementation of these projects, particularly in the Province in Bulacan, a fraud audit is an immediate and unequivocal necessity,' COA said in a memo issued on August 12. The order covers flood control projects of the Department of Public Works and HIghways (DPWH) in the province, which received P44 billion for flood control projects, accounting for the biggest share of funding in Region 3 with 45%. According to Cordoba, the audit is in line with President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.'s move to investigate alleged anomalies in the government's flood control programs amid persistent flooding across the country. This comes as Marcos during his State of the Nation Address (SONA) last July, warned government personnel who steal public funds — such as those for flood control projects — to have some shame. Just last week the President launched the website on flood control projects. He said 20% of the P545-billion budget for flood control projects was awarded to only 15% of contractors, five of whom have contracts across the country. BARMM election 90% ready, says COMELEC
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Sunday said it is almost set for the 2025 Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections, which are scheduled on Oct. 13, 2025. '90% to 95% na kaming handa (We are 90% to 95% ready),' Comelec chairperson George Garcia told Super Radyo DzBB. 'Gusto natin na igarantsya tuloy na tuloy na tuloy ang Bangsamoro parliamentary elections sa October 13. Meron kasi mga nagdududa na baka ipagliban na naman tulad ng Barangay at SK elections,' he added. (We want to guarantee that the Bangsamoro parliamentary elections will proceed on Oct. 13. Some have have doubts that it will be postponed, like the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE).) Garcia estimated about 2.3 million people will cast their votes for the BARMM elections. In February, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed into law a measure postponing the BARMM elections from May to October. The suspension came months after the Supreme Court, in September 2024, upheld the validity of the Bangsamoro Organic Law but declared that Sulu was not part of BARMM. The Court denied motions seeking the reversal of the decision in November 2024. On Aug. 13, Marcos signed into law a measure postponing the BSKE polls, setting the term of office of all elected barangay and SK officials to four years. Nueva Ecija governor Umali suspended for one year over quarry permits
The Office of the Ombudsman has suspended Nueva Ecija Governor Aurelio Umali for one year without pay, according to a report on ''24 Oras Weekend'' on Saturday. The suspension stemmed from a complaint alleging that Umali and other government officials had issued quarry permits without the required Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
