'Your girl needs a hug': UK singer Jessie J diagnosed with early breast cancer

UK singer Jessie J has been diagnosed with early breast cancer. The 37-year-old Bang Bang hitmaker shared the news in an Instagram video, expressing her hesitation about going public with the news but ultimately deciding to be open about it. 'I've been going back and forth a little on should I share it? I want to but there's a lot of opinions outside and I know the media are going to make this way bigger than it needs to be, but I also want to share this with my fans and the people who care about me,' she said. 'I was diagnosed with early breast cancer and I'm highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form but I'm holding onto the word early. I have been in and out of tests throughout this period. I want to be open and share it because selfishly I don't talk about it enough. I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard.' The singer announced she will undergo surgery after her performance at the Summertime Ball. 'It's a dramatic way to get a boob job. I will come back with huge tits and more music,' she said jokingly. Jessie J, whose real name is Jessica Ellen Cornish, has always been open about her health struggles, including her experiences with Meniere's disease, which affects her inner ear and voice, and a miscarriage in 2021. 'I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and sharing their own stories. I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much, similar and worse. That's the bit that kills me.' Despite that, she has remained positive. 'The past two months have been amazing and having this go on alongside it on the sidelines has given me the most incredible perspective. But, your girl needs a hug.'

Next Stay Close ✕ Director Jon M. Chu confirmed that both Grande and Erivo will deliver new, original songs, alongside well-loved numbers such as "For Good" and "No Good Deed". "I think it's been reported that we have two new songs. They're great additions to this movie, and they were necessary in this movie to help tell the story,' Chu shared previously in an online interview. Composer Stephen Schwartz, who penned the original score for the stage musical, has once again collaborated on these new pieces, infusing them with the signature charm that has resonated across generations. Fans were first treated to the film's glimpses at the annual theatre owners conference in Las Vegas in April, where initial reactions hailed the footage as "dazzling" and "intriguing". The first film, which grossed an impressive $750 million at the box office and earned 10 Academy Award nominations, set an incredibly high bar. "Wicked: For Good" will continue the narrative from the Broadway musical, which is an adaptation of Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel. This sequel promises to delve deeper into the relationship between Elphaba and Glinda, exploring themes of friendship, betrayal, and the complexity of good and evil. It also teases an integral connection to the classic story of "The Wizard of Oz," with a glimpse of Dorothy standing before the Wizard, flanked by her loyal companions, the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion. Fans are left wondering who will play Dorothy, as the casting for this pivotal role has yet to be revealed. Fans of the musical will also find that "Wicked: For Good" has been crafted simultaneously alongside the original film. In an interview, Chu expressed the decision to split the adaptation into two films as a means to honour the material fully and explore its depth without compromising characters or songs. "It was impossible to make 'Wicked' into one film without doing some real damage to it," he explained. Meanwhile, taking to the comments one fan wrote: "Not even November yet and something has already changed within us....", while another said: "I apologize in advance for the person I will become once I watch Jonathan Bailey and Cynthia Erivo singing 'As Long as You're Mine' 😭😭😭." • "Wicked: For Good" is slated to release in cinemas on November 21.

Brian McKnight calls out brother over 'tasteless' TikTok tribute to son Niko

R&B singer, Brian McKnight, who recently mourned the tragic loss of his son due to cancer. Image: Instagram In a heartbreaking turn of events following the death of his son Niko McKnight, renowned R&B singer Brian McKnight has publicly lashed out at his older brother, Claude McKnight, for what he describes as a 'tasteless' and 'self-aggrandising' tribute to Niko on TikTok. In a series of emotional statements shared online, the singer accused his brother of using the tragic circumstances surrounding Niko's death as a platform for personal publicity, rather than allowing the family to honour the memory of a young life lost with dignity. "A big, big thanks to Claude McKnight's tasteless and self-aggrandising announcement on TikTok, that frankly was not his to make," the singer said. He added that the uncle 'inserted himself' into a moment of grief that should have been reserved for family, transforming a deeply personal tragedy into what he describes as 'a mockery' and a 'reality show-type drama'. While the uncle paid tribute to his nephew on social media, discussing his devastation over the loss, the singer indicated that the family took a different route. 'While that was unfolding, my family and I flew home to Maui and had a private memorial remembering him and all the good times,' Brian said. Video Player is loading. Niko, who had been estranged from his father, passed away at the age of 32 after battling with stage 4 cancer. He had publicly documented his cancer journey, sharing moments of resilience and humour with fans. The exact type of cancer wasn't widely confirmed, though some reports mention colon cancer. The father and son had a strained relationship for years, and the singer publicly disowned his four eldest children, including Niko, calling them 'evil' and 'products of sin.' In his post, the "Back at One" singer also addressed the circumstances of Niko's health struggles, noting that he had offered support and resources, including access to specialists and private care. 'The last time he and I spoke, we offered him all the help we could provide,' Brian said, expressing frustration that Niko's mother declined this help.
